She just plants in the neighbors yards, then as she walks past houses she throws seeds into the yards, she volunteers at every place in town to plant things and then she has some she eats!!ROFL!!!! JK-no clue where some peeps put all their goodies!!

LOL! I never wanted any perennials, and now I have lots...no room for the annuals. :((

Artemiss, you have a true green thumb! Those look way better than mine. I don't have a whole lot of new growth like that. Have you fertilized them yet? If so, what did you use?

I assume you're keeping them outside, true?

Suzy

Springfield, IL(Zone 5b)

Aww, thanks!
They have been living on the front porch (dappled morning sun, full afternoon shade) pretty much since they came home.
I haven't used any special fertilizer, but they ARE in miracle grow garden soil, so that might be helping.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Wowo Angel-they look awesome!! Great job and your seedlings are HUGE!!

Springfield, IL(Zone 5b)

LOL, I can't take credit for the peppers in the round pots, I picked those up last weekend at a GH, but the other peppers and tomatoes I did start from seed..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL-I was wonderin why some were som much bigger!!LOL

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

oooooh i'm soooo sad. i killed my echineacea's. me thinks from too much water. i figured this out when i pulled on the top and out it pops with 1/3 of an inch of roots with it. LOL or BOO HOO there is still one that might still survive but i'm not holding my breath. do these ech's come true from seed? i'll throw some outside and let mother nature do what she does with the others i have.
if by chance i venture again into the plugged echi world, what do i need to do, to keep these lovely babies alive?
the good news is, that the others are doing well and even some have new growth on them, so i don't feel like a complete failure.
thanks debi & franklin
p.s. the lilies are actually muscadet. you can't get them and franklin in focus in the same snapshot, or at least i couldn't.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

debi-just make sure to not water them too much-I know that when we get the little guys, we want to over baby them, but I water my echies about every other time that I water everthing else as a general rule....you have to try a couple this next time and see how they work for ya-or I can keep em and send en when you should plant them out;)

(Maggie) Jacksonvill, FL(Zone 9a)

I will say the Echies I got from Starlight (bigger) are doing better than the small ones.

Maggie

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

The ones I got were from starlight too-she just had the others longer....

(Maggie) Jacksonvill, FL(Zone 9a)

I know, sorry I wasn't clear;-)

Maggie

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

OK-I just didn't know if you remembered or not...I think the stock is good, just getting a balance for them B4 planting them in the garden...

(Maggie) Jacksonvill, FL(Zone 9a)

No worries my dear!

I get excited everytime I look at mine!! My corydalis berry exciting has a new set of leaves on it about 3-4" tall-just shot right up!! And my tiarella has a new leaf everytime I look at it!!YEAH!! Almost ready to plant them out!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

My huecheras have some new leaves, verbascum is outgrowing its pot and so are my ferns. My corydalis is hanging in there but still not big enough to go into the garden. The ones that are big enough have to wait til some more plants pop out and fill in so I know where my blank spots are. :~)

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7a)

I have the echies in cowpots and have been letting them get a bit on the dry side then bottom watering (water, a drop of SuperThrive, a sprinkle of Mighty Plant or MG and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide). When I see a bit of moisture darkening the top layers of soil I take them out. There has been some new growth in the center so I've got my fingers crossed that I can keep them going:lol: It will give me hope for the other ones I will have coming soon.

I've lost most of the leaves on the Caramel heucheras but there is new growth coming from the center so that's OK. The Frosted Violet one is doing well. I've been doing the bottom watering with them as well.

I'll try to take some close up pictures this weekend.

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

Stacey where did you say you bought the Buddleia Bicolor Butterfly Bush at?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

CONNIE-The place on the corner of Alexis & Lewis-it is in the parking lot of the Value City that closed...I had one last year I got from a place and it didn't come back-it was tiny when I got it and didn't look too great to begin with, so I wasn't all together surprised it didn't come back. The one I just got is really good size!! It has 3 stalks that are about 2' tall and has some buds on it!!:) I also got a grass I have been coveting for about 2 years now-Miscanthus 'Huron Sunrise'!!

dmac-that is what I have been doing with mine too-the bottom watering-I water w/ reg water every other time, the off times I use a root stimulator in the water...I have 1 mystery heauchera that is still looking sad, but all the rest have new growth and are thriving!!! I get excited everytime I look at them!!

pepper-that is why I have schematics-otherwise I would forget EVERYTHING!! Plus is helps me when I am pulling weeds!!LOL My corydalis just started doing really well, after the last watering I did with the root stimulator in it!! I have only been watering them like once a week and the echies every week and a half-2 weeks...

I can't wait til this next weekend!! I took Thurs-Mon off to do some gardening!! I am digging out a new bed on the W side of my garage that will be my campanula bed-I have Blue Waterfall, Blue Clips, Brich Hybrid, Pink Octopus, Samantha and I think another one-can't remember!!LOL I need to put something else there-just not sure what...maybe some hosta-I don't know!! but those 5 plants is NOT going to fill the bed...

I am putting the choc. ruffles and midnight rose around my hayyr lauuder's walking stick tree since they can take full sun...

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

oh fairy, i definately want these in my garden beds. i just love them. soooo i will most definately be asking you to grow them for me. :-) what a sweetheart you are to offer. then i know i'll have them. :-) i'd hate to spend $15 a pot for them at the nurseries.
so when are you having the next co-op for echi's? gotta write it on my calendar so i don't forget. :-)
thanks so much for the advice. i also use superthrive and hydrogen peroxide and fertilizer mixture on my seedlings and small plants. more great advice i took from another dger.
off to the garden soon.
debi & franklin

Debi & Franklin-I can do that ofr ya-just can't do it for EVERYONE:) I can either send them to you in the beginning of June or wait and ship in the fall-we will just have to work out shippping-may be a couple extra bucks, but not too much:) The next one will be in Sept. w/ April shipping....I will send a group blast...

I don't use any of that stuff, but I know the peroxide is to reduce the flies...I use this stuff that smells like fish from Gardeners Supply as the root stimulator-seems to be working really good-will definitly get it again next year!!

Springfield, IL(Zone 5b)

I took the day off yesterday to plant out my tomatoes and peppers, and boy am I glad I did..the poor tomatoes and a couple of the peppers were so root-bound, they were not much longer for this world. ( I thought they were looking stressed) I have had them out on the proch fow a few weeks now, so they should be used to the cold...and I put black landscaping cloth around some of them to see if that will help make the most of what sun/heat they are getting.
I also put out all the rest of my petunias, I think I have a couple in just about every bed now, lol! (mmm, but the smell will be heavenly!!)
I think I may have direct sown some of my seeds too early, only a few are coming up..maybe larkspur and bachelor buttons..but methinks I will need to buy more cosmos, and replant with the remaining nicotiana, four o'clocks and nasturtiums...I also forgot how much better thing grow when started indoors vs. direct sown.
Oh, and I have poppies!!! I thought none of the ones I winter sowed made it, but when weeding out the side bed to plant the peppers, I found a bunch!! YAY! (So, anyone know how well poppies and peppers grow together? This is not a companion planting I have I even seen before, and I hadn't the heart to rip the poppies out, lol!)
I am used to being farther south..and while I don't miss turning on the ac in May, I just wish it would warm up a bit more already!!!!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Artemiss, Congratulations on both the poppies and the peppers/tomatoes. Seems a weird combination, but the poppies will be poopies about the same time those tomatoes take over the world, so it should work out great.

Fairy, I could use a schematic or somehting..I have been pulling weeds or else seedlings...not sure, but a whole lot! LOL!

Suzy

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Suzy-I just use Microsoft paint to draw one, I make all the circles that represent flowers a light yellow (no color ink in printer), then color them in w/ markers...I how tall and what season they bloom in too....I have had to refer back to it several times to make sure I am not pulling actual plants this spring!!LOL It took me about 30 mins to do-not too hard-it was harder deciding what to put where as I was looking at my sheet, but the schematic was easy...
