I am in hopes that someone on this site has actual white creeping phlox, and can tell me from experience how much it actually spreads. I see conflicting reports from different web sites as well as the marker that came in the flat i purchased.
I want to plant it down the side walk in the area that I am going to be planting only White Blooming plants....How far away from the side walk should I plant it? and how far from each plant should I plant each one? I don't want to have to be cutting too much of it away from the side walk, yet I still want to blur that staright line of cement.....for a gradual introduction into the garden....

Creeping Phlox ( White )
I only have experience with pink, but never creeps far from prepared beds. It does not like hard ground.
I've got several kinds of creeping phlox but not the white one. I have always had a bit of trouble getting it to settle in and grow, but our site is sloping and dry and these characteristics may impact their growth habit. This year was the first year I've had a really good showing of them.
I think if you have well prepared soil and are prepared to provide at least one inch of water each week and more in hot weather, the white will grow very well for you. If you put one small plug plant on a 12 inch circle now, you should be more than happy with the coverage next spring. If it is a robust grower in your garden you can always dig some and share it with others, too.
I'm not sure if that answers your question, but sometimes learning by trial and error is the only way to go!
I planted several clumps of white creeping phlox last month and all eight have already grown several runners each that are approximately 2 inches in length. When I ran a search, the site I found stated that the white doesn't spread quite as fast as the pinks and purples, but where I have the white I don't want it to spread too fast because I'm wanting to keep it in a contained area. So far, I'm very pleased with it. And true to another piece if info I got off the site, it keeps a much prettier shade of green than the colors.
