The delicate blooms of Scutellaria parvula Michx
Spring blooms - Part 4 - Stuff is really taking off
You guys have been busy!! Nice flowers everyone.
I was going to start a thread similar to this, and decided to look first to see if anyone else had, and WOW you guys are already on the 4th thread LOL! I have been getting blooms for some weeks now as well, only no had time to come up for air and document a few of them here in the Texas Gardening Forum with all of you guys!
:-)
Permit me to add a few of my bloomers to the mix here...
Here's the Blue Crown PV , already covered with blooms.. and Gulf Fritillaries. This PV is an evergreen here in North Texas.
Whoops DH is heading to the Gro. Store .. I'll be back later to post some pics :-0
Carry on!
Wonderful Deb. Mine is covered with buds but has only 1 or 2 blooms so far. Won't be long before the cats have stripped the leaves though. Then the swallowtail takes over the parsley. That's ok. There's enough for both of us.
Rita, can't take credit for the many special iris. Mitch has gifted me with so many plants of various ilk that I wouldn't know where to start. I already had a pretty full garden and then Mitch and Randy shared and I am just overwhelmed. In a GOOD way.

And I don't care what anyone says .. I love White Clover....... All clovers for that matter. Be they wood sorrell, or oxalis. Whatever you call them, I have always loved them.
How will you ever find a 4 leaf clover if you don't grow it?
I use it as a border and a filler in places around the house. Yes, I have to pull some out as it takes over in places, but I am rewarded with a nice green beanie fragrance, plus it's a great nitro building plant to till back into the soil.
Hey! Ya wanna go around back and see the Butterfly & Wildlife garden?
Here is a stiched view, a sort of panorama...
To the left of this window we have lots of other host plants I will share later, however in this frame we have a center row of pots with:
(front to back) Thumbelina Zinnias, Pentas, Desert Willow, Amorpha fruiticosa, Vitex Tree (in ground), and in back 3 citrus, Clementine, Meyer Lemon and Lime. Cannas are in raised beds behind that.
In the rows we have Black & Blue Salvia, Porterweed, and a Hibiscus Manihot.
Next row forward Salvias (Hotlips and Pineapple), Daylilies, Rudbeckia (tall short) Echinacea, Hop tree, and some Crocosmias.
Front row Salvia g. blue violet, Texas Betony, Red Verbena, and 3 kinds of Cuphea that are just emerging.
The second to the right row from the right fence: Mostly Perennial Milkweed and Yarrow, with Red hot pokers toward the back.
Far right beside the fence: Spicebushes on each end, two Buddleias closer in, and a Pipevine (Aristolochia macrophylla) up the middle.
**Yes it is a small place, but where there's a will and a purpose, there is a way.**
To the right of this frame I have a Magpie Duck and a Chicken, (Echo & Tango) and visiting wild birds which keep them company all day. I do believe the 2 of them are voyeurs as they seem to love watching the wild birds as much as we do. Quite often Echo will flap her Pterodactyl-like wings, and then say "nope, I can't fly yet, but someday ..oO"
The tour is great, Deb. Waiting for "to be continued".

My little addition: (I'm sorta new at this, so be kind). My walking iris have been gorgeous this year.
I have several beds, and they all bloom at once - many times. The blooms, however, last only one day. In the early am, they are budding, later they bloom, and by sunset or 5pm they are gone. They make a wonderful sight, though, while they are blooming.
madrid, i am defineately not an expert, but could it be Aztec Gold? the daylily, i mean.

I saved the daylily from getting bulldozed by one of my uncles doing "dirt work" in East Texas. I would guess it is an older and very tough pass along variety.
Madrid ~ I have a daylily like that unusual colored one. Given to me so I don't know the name. Will post a photo when it blooms.
Welcome to our garden Louparris! I am so jealous that you can keep your walking Iris in ground in your zone. I keep mine potted to provide winter protection. Very pretty bed that makes.
Debnes ~ great tour. Really interested in your butterfly & wildlife area. I am planting more for them here and find the hummers are not even nipping on the feeders this spring. Very pretty garden you have!
Thanks all for sharing...
