thank you Ge.....and yes that part is nice Victor... get to see more of each plant... been some hits & misses and lots of mistakes.. but getting better
The long view
Allison, what an amazing and drastic change, it's lovely and you should be very proud!
Allison, You have done beautiful changes to your property. I have to ask, though. A few(quite a few years) ago I dated guy that came from Denville. We took a trip up there and he showed me the house that he had owned. It was on a slope to a lake and SOOOOO beautiful. a small home but the setting was to die for.I have always envisioned Denville as the most gorgeous place on earth to live. Am I way off base in that assumption?
thank you Pixie & Venu..... I absolutely love Denville other than I would like bigger property... I am just a few blocks from the lake... the people are sooo friendly other than some at the lake community gatherings... some are clicky... but overall everyone is great... the main street shopping is always nice all the small shops are great to spend a day checking out.. can't beat the music played in the streets while you shop.... it's very quiet in my neighborhood... it's like I am living in another world compared to where I grew up in Bergen Co.... which was Garfield... total city and way too packed with people... I could just sit out on my deck with a cup of coffee and watch the birds for the rest of my life
I like this idea of before, during and after the season. Makes me feel like all the work is worth it to see how everything comes back to life each year, even when I neglect things from time to time. Here is a link to some early spring pics of the beds around my garden.

nice yard ngam... what's the big black thing in #18?
Thanks Alison. The black thing is an umbrella trellis. Trying to get 'James Galway' and a clem to go up and over. My roses took a big hit from wind burn over the winter this year. I am not going to replace any that bite dust with more roses. Instead I think I will add more perennials, less work with all the anti rose bugs and diseases around here. Every year there is something new to fight.
So that's the Garden Watchdog?!!
He is Victor - he was on my bad list this spring when I noticed that he was 'using' it for non authorized purposes.
See his name even came up in blue! Was he writing his name?
Not quite - more solid.
Al- I know I have commented before, but the pics just reminded me. I really like your choice of stone. I wish we had that type available here. It has a "natural" look, not "poured". LOL. Look forward to seeing your Dahlias. A friend just gave me some., so I may need advice. Cyndie
Thanks Cyndie - I needed about one more pallet of it to have it on all the beds in back.
Whoa - big rhodie, what difference a zone makes - they will never get that big here.
i had a very depressing day for my long view... the moles/voles are so bad - not only have i lost almost all of my Queen of Night tulips, and my Renowns (both were caged in chicken wire) and lots and lots of others -- they are destroying everything else too. About half of my Firewitch dianthus - which was getting huge - but it is growing on air; i touched an echinacea and a piece broke off with most of the roots gone and nothing under it...
i think they are winning.
so sorry to hear that Amy..... it's heartbreaking
WOW you need a cat.
I was told there was a mole and rabbit problem here, we moved in with Angel and Jerry ,both hunters and the rabbits moved out,Angel is fierce when riled.
That's awful - sorry to hear that, Amy.
