Lenjo - that sounds like fun!! You could actually stay in a hotel downtown, or you could stay a little out of town (like, say, in North Seattle) and ride one of the shuttles in. You might get a better rate on a room - I don't know. But then you'd be positioned to drive to a few nurseries
Nurseries in Seattle include:
Swanson's in Ballard (north of Seattle) and Skye off of I-99, also in North Seattle. Emery's is in Mill Creek, a little farther north. Wells Medina is in Bellevue. Molbak's and Flowerworld (great prices) are out to the northeast in Woodinville and Maltby.

A sticky list with real names.
Lenjo, how cool! Kathy definitely gave you the good nurseries - there are probably some good ones in south Seattle as well, but I've always lived north so really don't know them. I presume you will take the train, then rent a car? How many plants can you take home on the train? LOL!!!
Um, Emery's Garden is in north Lynnwood. Not Mill Creek.
Okay, Mr. Exactamap. :-)
Gotta admit it's a hop skip and a jump from Mill Creek - they kinda mish together up around there, don't they? Lynnwood extends so far south that I thought saying Mill Creek was more descriptive of the location. Trying more to help the out-of-towners plan than to replace Google Maps. LOL
Hey, how are your classes going?
This is the first time I have looked at this thread. I am an Oregonian who moved to Washington in 1980. I still consider myself on Oregonian. Was born near Oregon City.
Reading all the posts from Oregon makes me want to go visit all the old places!.
Which I will be doing in July. My sister from California is coming up, my sister from Idaho will be coming, and then we will go to Tigard Ore to visit my brother. From his house we will go down some memory lanes in the Canby area, where we grew up.
We all have our Mother's green thumbs. Yes, I said thumbs!
My name Willieb comes from my cocker spaniel. That is what he answers to. He turned 15 last month. That is 15 years old!
I am wanting the weather to turn nicer so I can work in my yard. I have a hobby nursery and need to be getting stuff ready to sell!! Wish I had it already ready!
I am one of the lurkers out here. Hope to do more posting.
I Live in Chimacum, about 9 miles from Port Townsend.
All you grandmas!! Enjoy those babies while they are so little! They grow up so fast!!
I could not believe how big my grandson is now! He is 13. Seems he was a little guy not very long ago! And his baby sister turned 8 this month!! Where does time go?
I know, it goes by while we are working in our gardens.
Oh, I did not give you my real name. It is Betty
Welcome Betty. you are not far from me, And Neofarmer is just down the road, and Outta (Sheri) is in PA
And Cattledogs (Heidi) has the best nursery/garden in all of the peninsula she is in Kingston (Hansville) and Willowind ( Patrica ) in union.
Us PNW DGers are growing on this side of the pond. Hay

Well I have a day off so I can fill in the details. I am Steve and live in Kalispell MT on a 3 acre mostly raised bed garden and natural woodlands and meadows. I hang out in PNW because I used to live in Bellevue, Kirkland and Bothell for 22 years. I got out of the crowd and moved to Montana 10 years ago. I travel as a veterinarian all over Alaska and occasionally Washington. I enjoy canoing, sailing, and Kayaking and do lots of that when I am not working. My garden has lots of boulders, stumps, and old tree trunks mixed in with the rest of all the plants that can grow in Montana.
I love Port Townsend. It is such a sweet town to visit.
Steve, did get to Kalispell a few years ago; stayed there and rented a car out to Glacier. Such clean clear air there too. I would take a few decorative boulders in my garden but dh isn't too keen on moving the things. LOL
Welcome back Steve, are you home yet? or still in Alaska
Welcome, Betty. Thanks for posting. We're generally a pretty friendly bunch here and I think I can safely say that our motto truly is, "The more, the merrier."
I've lived in Seattle 23 years and am just recently getting more and more familiar with the peninsula as I meet all you gardeners over there.
And welcome back, Steve. Haven't heard from you in awhile. Has spring finally arrived in Kalispell?
Well if Katie can live in Woodinville and say she's lives in Seattle, I guess I can claim the same thing. I have lived in the Seattle Metro Area for 28 years. And many think I am one of the natives these days because I don't mind the rain.
Hi Betty! You're so close! I live in Agnew but work at the hospital in Port Townsend. Nice to have another DGer next door!
Welcome back, Steve. How's the travelin'?
Welcome, Betty - I'm in the Greenbank area on Whidbey. And I do so agree with you about the grandbabies - time goes so fast! I have them ranging in age from 8 months to 20 years (the 20 year old made me a great grandma last October 28th).
I lived right in Seattle for the first 58 years of my life, the last 5.5 here on Whidbey.
Hi Carole, how are you doing and Steve. so missed you . I am Findley
getting the plants you gave me to new homes, I know all of them but one, it has leaves now, maybe you can recall what it was. you said it had yellow flowers ! was in a Monrovia pot, any guesses. I will take a pic when I get home from Willows. I know you told me and I should of wrote it down, but I was working and my only mine set was on work, even tho I loved your visit wish I could of spent more time then.
Lots Of HUGS

I just found these pic my niece down loaded on my comp. I didn't know they where there, until I started moving files to CDs to give me more space. great find LOL
This is a little warmer. Looking west over the Chilkat mountain range. The gulls were feeding loudly here.
I so often escaped to Pt Townsend to get away from the city when I lived there. I even rented one of the officers houses at the fort. It was really neat. I piled in about 18 of my church friends there one weekend.
Shokami2, a roundup (otherwise known as an RU) is a get together of DG subscribers from a specific region or having to do with a specific forum. I suspect that I am more East of you than North but there's only about a hour and a quarter from here to Coos Bay. We generally get over that way at least once or twice a year. Don't know when we'll be able to do so this year - gas is getting to be down right ridiculous and we don't have a horse. But if we do, I'll try to alert you so we can meet somewhere. Dotti
thanks dotti! your a little farther than that.... takes us 1 1/2 hours just to get to roseburg and you just a little north of that. if i remember the map. the WA dgers have all the fun!!! wish there was something we could do down here for everyone.
Point taken, AD. But if FEELS like I live in Seattle, since I work there all week, commuting back and forth. ARGHGH!!! I'm probably crossing gardening zones every day. LOL
Beautiful Gunnera picture, Shokami. I'm still envious.
Kathy - actually, you exist in one of those traveling zones: take it with you wherever you go!
Yeah, that's it. Seems like what I'm doing . . .
This is getting too easy PNWer's - first we got Outta hooked in just a matter of days - but it did take some really thrilling promises of spring to come. Now Shokami has gotten 'totally addicted' all on her own! This PNW thread is going to become a banned substance pretty soon!!
No probs Katie, I am just a detail oriented perfectionist, who keeps trying to be more mellow and laid back.
I understand, AD. Was teasing, truly. We should be able to balance one another out then. ;-)
Willow is here. Amber pics.

Spring is finally here! Don't think we will have anymore frost. I hope not..I am putting my fuchsias out! Was really nice and warm yesterday. I got a lot done with my nursery stock. Just wish it was all bigger!! and really ready to sell! People like to buy plants now, not a month from now...I may end up donating a lot to the local garden club for their fall sale.
Is really nice to be able to get out and work in the yard without a lot of coats on. Betty
Nursery stock, Betty? You mentioned a hobby nursery in your first post. Where is it (in Chimacum, I presume) and when can I come buy stuff?
Hi outtamygourd. I sent you a D-MAIL message.
If anyone else would like more info, send me a D-MAIL for directions and phone number and any other questions. I am here a good share of the time and don't mind drop ins for plants. Except I do not sell plants on Saturday the Port Ludlow Friday market, either this Friday or next Friday. It is open from 9 am to 2 pm.
Betty
