Let us know when you go on tour Gordon! ^_^
A sticky list with real names.
Outtamygourd. . .derived from a small gourd craft business I had a few years back. Also indicative of personality. Never used it for anything other than the gourd thing but when signing up for DG, thought it was quite appropriate. It just kinda morphed into "outta" over the past few months. Real name is much more boring and far less representative of me ~ Sheri ~ (always reminded me of high school cheerleaders who were very skinny, blonde, and bubbly. Definitely NOT me in ANY category!)

All is changing my way of thinking, which I didnt like using real names in the first place, on the net. but went along with it, someone else thought it would be good/nice not sure anymore. okay when we are together.
Well, what do you all think about a name list?
I meant it to be a helpful tool, but, if you prefer screen names, there's no need for one.
Whenever we have events, we wear both names. I thought a list would be helpful for us, as it has been for the folks over on the NE forum. They have MANY folks, though...
As far as the Oregonians are concerned - I too, am surprised there are not more "active" on the various threads.
For what it's worth: I just see us all as one large community. Those of us in the Seattle metro area can obviously participate in many different things here. But we have had to "grow" this community.
As an example - the Work Parties. We've been interested in helping each other, because we all can empathize with not having enough time or manpower. Initially, someone had to reach out and others had to respond.
The Oregon group will evolve and it will become what it is depending on the participants. It wasn't like this here a couple years ago, though. It takes time, patience & motivated people. Frankly, we are just a step or two from going over the edge - serious enabling here! But the commonality of a love of growing things is what bonds us.
PNW has lots of members, but many prefer to read/stay in the background. That's fine, and all of the regional forums have this element.
Extending a hand has helped considerably.
I for one, would love to come down to Oregon & meet all of you, visit your nurseries & enjoy your sunshine! If any of you are going to be in this area, please, please post!
We'd love to get together with you here & share what we have.
lenjo..greetings from a neighbor in Silverton. We are out here in DG... I have only been a member for about 2 weeks...but enjoying all that happens on this forum and many others.
Beahive = My 7 brothers and sisters could not pronouce my name when we were little.(Bernadette) so I was Bea...now I am Aunt Bea to 13 nieces & nephews. (why that spelling..I have no idea..just started to show up on cards & packages)
Hive is just my "crib" as they say these days. Crib=home
I enjoy reading your banter back and forth with each other... You all
seem to really enjoy each other.. great forum!
Many of us Washingtonians are either from Oregon or still travel down there a lot. I'd love at some point for us all to meet.
Katie59 (no story behind my name)
Family has always called me Susie (for my middle name, Susan), so using that would have confused things. Friends called me Groobie in highschool.

To be honest with you all, a couple years ago I had quite a rude comment made to me here on this forum, so I have stayed away. I don't know if that person is still here, but I saw this thread pop up in the latest posts box, so I thought I'd come check it out.
I am sorry that happened to you, Its a sad thing, for one to runen it for others, If I know I am in the wrong I will at least make amens.
Welcome back
^_^
Thanks Tilly. ^_^
You are very welcome
See ya more, I hope
mgh - Things have changed from a couple years ago, and many folks have moved on.
I hope that you feel comfortable enough to join in now.
Sometimes it is hard to discern the tone in which something is written, and that is one aspect of texting that can be difficult to overcome. Another consideration is that some people hide behind their perceived anonimity, are lacking in the manners department, and don't care. Very sad, very frustrating.
Yes, I agree, the typed word is so much harder to feel the tone of the conversation. I just felt it was easier for me to leave the forum. Anyway, I'll try to visit more. ^_^
I think this was mentioned before, but have any of you seen the thread in the brug forum with the list of all the real names here at DG? That is one long list!
:o) Well, Im not ohysically in the PNW, but in my heart .... :o) LOL!
Anyhow, my DG name is one that was given to me when I first got internet. my BFF was sitting at my house waiting for the cable guy to show up and hook me up. I had no idea that I was supposed to have a screen name, and she didnt want my real name out there... so she picked...
one anjl because the end of the email address was @ home. Hence I became oneanjl@home. com! lol! anyhow, when DH heard the name...well it has stuck for many years since :o) and its easier for me if I dont have to remember a user name for something lol! so I am oneanjl everywhere I go on the WWW.
Now, my mom has become Anjlsmom! lol!
As for real names: My Name is Annmarie
and moms name is Pat... I believe she already posted that on her thread somewhere, but I am sure she doesnt want to be known as Anjl's mom! LOL!
nite all!
AnjL
? is that all of DG.
oneanjl- How are things down in Fremont this week? Did the weather
finally cool down for you? Hope so. We are back to cold weather, rain..snow ..the usual crummy stuff. Hoep all is well.
I am freezing down here... LOL! I must have blown all that hot weather up there! lol! its much cooler here now, but also really really windy. I lost my entire 4 shelves of seedlings -wind blew my shelf rack over! I was able to save about 7 of them...just sick :o(
so, if the durn wind would stop blowing, I can direct sow. I just dont want to put seeds out and have them sprout 10 houses away! lol!
This weather is nuts. LOL
How sad about your seedlings!! Hope you can get more going soon.
We had thunder, rain, hail, and snow today. Sure wish it would warm up!
MGH
How are you at, coming up up with crazy ideas? like painting.
My DH thinks that everything I come up with is crazy. LOL Whatcha painting?
I just have a few packs of seeds I'm going to sow direct outdoors...once the wind stops. I think it was over 400 seedlings that I lost... If I stop to think about it...I'll cry again! At least I didnt loose my brug seeds...those are indoors :o) along with the seedlings I was able to save :o)
I just decided to use store bougth annuals and spring bulbs (I have 140 of them on their way here now!) to fill in where the seedlings would have gone. Will start over this winter :o( All that hard work down the drain :o( Now I know why they say to stake those lil portable greenhouses!
The weather is really wierd... summer one day, winter the next...no spring?! UGH!
and these winds are awful! I was soaked after watereing today! LOL! All just sprayed back into my face! UGH!
AnjL
Yep the weather is rotten. My tomatoe "seedings" are 3 ft high and have taken over my dining room. My Green bean "seedlings" have beans on them which I may have to cook with dinner tomorrow. Plants need to get outside and stretch their roots..but it is to darn cold. I think I will need to restart some beans tomorrow.. they are not happy tonight...
Sorry about your seedlings Annamarie. What had you planted?
japanese lanterns, agastache, lambs ears, petunias, cosmos, blanket flower, marigolds, stock, 4'oclocks, snap dragons, sweat peas, sunflowers, joe pye weed, artichokes, poppies, hollyhocks, blackeyed susans, alyssum, evening primrose... those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head... :o( I'm scared to look at my journal. I got alot of seeds from friends here at DG and I'll have to start collecting all over again next season :o( I planted what I needed, waited for the sprouts and then sent off the leftovers to newbies... so I didnt save any extra seeds. I still had some seeds I was just planning on direct sowing, so it will be okay for this year. and I also have some seeds that sow in fall. I can fill in the rest of the areas with annuals for now, just dont have the heart to start again this year. My cosmos were already getting buds on them :o(
MSD, That is what my DH says, I'm totaly nuts, on this one but lovin it.
I would like you to join my project, I know you can not be here in the flesh, but all input is welcome. Take you time. Bed time for me LOL

To answer you, Willowwind .... my "wannadance" name came about in the early days of AOL - where the max letters one could use was 9 - thus the dropped "e". It has served me well in these many cyber years since, and like someone else wrote - it is the name I use everywhere on the "net". As for "dancing" - well, back then I was unceremoniously suddenly single again, even w/ AARP card in hand, and I had joined up w/ a singles groups that had dances once a month. Truth be told - I hated being asked to dance, I hated not being asked to dance - and eventually, I saw the wisdom in making some better activity choices. Should have named mine self any of the following - wannagarden, wannafish, wannacamp, wannapickmushrooms, wannatravel - as those would have been much more representative of the person I am.
Real name = Vicki
Yeah,Mendy, I think we Oregonians will need to have a roundup when the weather turns summery and gets warmer, don't you think? Nice to see a neighbor here, Beahive!!! Did you get up to the Garden yesterday for the Earth Day? I was planning it but darn it was so cold.
lenjo..did not make it to the oregon garden yesterday. Had to go up to Portland to attend a meeting at Western Culinary Institute. My daughter will be a student there in August.Hope to get there soon. I have a pass..can go anytime! Great place for inspiration !
I really really enjoy getting to know so many people - to "hear" their stories, etc. We're a lucky bunch of WA, OR, and CA folks!!! And there are some very cool folks from other states who pop in now and again as well. Again, I say we are very lucky.
And don't forget Laurie from across the "fond!"
No kidding - can't believe I didn't say her name!!!!!
Now that little precious darling just made me smile big time!!!!!! And I adore the name (for both our own BeaHive and your little gal)!
Lenjo... congratulations!! She is sooooo cute. Kiss those chubby cheeks for me. I think I saw an article in a local paper about her baptism? Is that her?
hint.. before she starts Kindergarten...get her started on printing her name..with 10 letters in her name it may be hard to keep up with kids named Mary,John,Ann..Tom.. takes some time & practice to have it all fit at the top of the paper. 5 year olds write BIG!!
Enjoy that beautiful granddaughter !
wanna, At one time or another I have indulged with pleasure in all your could have been wanna names. We have mushrooms here and I love it. Eat them by the pan full. This is one good thread. And our Alaskan guy who I can't remember his name, don't forget him.
Thanks,Willowwind-My name is part of my signature. With my terrible memory, especially for names,I'd never be able to remember real names unless they were in or part of the signature.
WW-what kind of mushrooms are you getting now?The cottonwood Morels should be out.
Lenjo-cute baby. Now you can do all those grandma things & then send the baby home with parents^_^
We only get morels here when they bring in bark from eastern Washington. They last about two years and disappear. I had those where I grew up and they are the best. We have Chantrelles and Masitakes (sp). I love the yellowish Chantrelles and the Masitakes are to die for. I find them by the smell.
WW-up in Wharcom & Skagit county, there is a different variety of Morel with the cap NOT hooked to stem at bottom. They grow under the cottonwood trees, and pop up in the early spring. The deer love them.We used to get the ones the deer missed^_^.Up here we have the yellow chantrelle, too, but they're not as plentiful under our Hemlock & spruce as they are under Douglas fir.
Hey, can lurkers play too? Balvenie is one of my favorite Single malt Scotches. When I'm not hiding or making a mess I have been known to go by robert.
Oregon roundup? Got room for a stray SW WA-er? I'm so happy to see a few more folks closer to me! I've been trying to talk some of these northerners into coming south for a visit in these parts sometime this summer, anyhow. Maybe you can help me entice a few more of them down here for a day.
Balvenie! Not my thread, but I don't think WW or Katye will mind if I say of course you can play! -especially if it means you show up more often with puppy and garden pictures! :) (Do you hide after making the mess as well? ;) )
mgh/Mendy, happy to see you here-I know I've run into you elsewhere here-happy to see you over here, too!
wannadanc, still think about your slug thread from last year-outstanding, very happy to see you again!
Lenjo, your GB is very cute, but I've got to confess, seeing her in a little green jumper right after reading Beahive talking about beans in her dining room that need harvesting, my first thought was look at the cute little peapod person!
I think most have heard my name story-very dull, really. Real, full name is Susan, always use Sue. I was Susy (With an "s" and a "y") when I was a kid, and somehow my DH called me susybell as a pet name way back when (He doesn't even remember it now) and I remembered it in desperation when I needed a screenname for here after my first few ideas were taken. I would've signed up at least a month earlier if I'd come up with something sooner...
