Lenjo...how old is that adorable lil girl?! I just became a Grammy on 12/18/07... the light of my life! David
A sticky list with real names.
God bless David! What a beautiful baby! Annamarie that is such a sweet picture of you both! Enjoy him..they grow up to fast!
OK - when is the Oregon RU? I want to go south! I heard the sun shines brightly there during our prolonged rains...
If you folks get something together, we may have a group to come visit. Please keep everyone posted. Please!!!
Balvenie - you are on the list already, but that's because i was going wayyyyyyyyyy back over past threads. Haven't "read" you recently, but you had not escaped notice!!! Hope you didn't lose anything in this springtime weather bizarreness. Heard that the folks up your way got hit the hardest.
Lenjo - Bernadette is just a little smilin' sweetheart.
She's also "Classic Pooh" - gotta love it!!!
Hope you are all warm & cozy - we had a near white-out here about 7 am. Well, I took advantage of it and made a serious deposit into the sleep-reserve bank. Much better now - and all 2" has melted away. Birds are loud - happier, too.
David looks so peaceful - I swear there is no sentiment equal to having a young child sleeping on you. Thank you for letting me live it vicariously through you!
Mine is now 18 - this has not happened in a very long time!

Yes, if you do an OR roundup...I wanna know too! lol! I'll travel north for a RU...but not south! lol! I havent seen any CA RU here, cept down south and its way too hot for me there! lol!
Katye...yes, seems like just a year or so ago my DD was sleeping in my arms just like David...I was in the room with her when she delivered DGS, and I cried like a baby the moment he was born! lol! She called my a 'weepy woman!' an old joke between her and I about being a strong woman nad not a weepy one! lol! I'm truely afraid to blink anymore...cause so much changes every time I do! lol!

Boy, isn't that the truth? Wasn't it just yesterday? Bernadette or BabyB as we sometimes refer to her was born on February 9th. She is 10 weeks old. She started out bigger at 9 lbs. 3 oz. and is growing like a weed. Yes, these grands are spectacular. Annamarie, what a lovely name, I always always loved that name and it was my hope to have that name but other things kept me from using it. Beahive, I don't think you would have seen anything about a Baptism, she was baptized in Gervais, my sil knows the priest there and we were privileged to be her Godparents too. :) Joann
I've been so tempted to drive north for a WA roundup ~ kinda far for me. But an OR roundup would be really cool too!!! Very doable.
And great grandbaby pics - yet to have one but can hardly wait!
Sanna
Those are some very cute grandbabies ladies! Congratulations on grandparenthood. I could cry like a baby just reading about your grandbabies! I am Super Weepy Woman LOL. And welcome to all you NWerners.
Mendy, I'm so sorry someone said something rude that put you off. Hope it wasn't me...
Balvenie nice to see you. Our former beloved neighbor loved a good single malt scotch, but the name escapes me.
Sanna: near miss on construction vehicles and soil delivery dump truck near my trillium patch next to the driveway: They came within TWO INCHES of the plants in peak bloom! I was crossing my fingers and wincing every time they manuevered through the narrow passage between tree and trillium. Yikes. Trillium prevailed.
Katye- I bet I drove through that same white out at 0640 this a.m. between Issaquah and Bellevue- heavy black cloud dead ahead which I thought would be hard rain, but was 'blizzard' instead. It was pretty while it lasted. We only had 1.5 inches Friday night, flurries off and on and then less than half an inch last night. And I hope that's the last of the snow and hail for months to come.
Love all the baby pictures, they are darlings, thanks for sharing! I would definetly come to an Oregon roundup as well!
My "real" name is Rachel. When I was a kid our good friends and neighbors the Kochers started calling me Rachie. They where the only ones that called me that for years, still do to this day! The "rabbit" part is because I have always loved bunnies, I have two, Stormy and Chai.
Please no more. Had enough.
signed,
Imawuss.
Mendy!!! I'm so sorry. Glad you gave us another try. Some people. Harumph!!!!
Annie - I think I would have had a stroke watching trucks going by the trillium. I hope the truck driver knows how grateful you are and how much of an accomplishment his driving was.
Glad you made it home safely through the blizzard. And there's supposed to be more in the next 24 hours. I just had a flash of lightning in the window and an explosion of thunder right after that. It stirred up the dogs, who don't get stirred up over anything but the doorbell or a deer in the yard. This was louder than any fireworks I've heard. No precipitatio, though.
About a month and a half ago, I was woken in the middle of the night by a similar explosion of thunder. It was all the talk at the Safeway store at Cottage Lake and at the hardware store in Duvall. Guess there were lots of us wandering through our houses slowly waking up and looking for house damage at 3:00 a.m. that day. What a year.
how nice that the name list has brought out so many more members - May we have more garden photos please - I love linking gardens to names (not to mention pinching a few ideas and planting combos!!)
Like the oregonians and the Californians below them, I too wish I could join in, in person, with some of the meets - but I have to say, the spirit of this groups makes the distance really shrink! (Especially since I got to be a cheerleader!) So for those of you just putting your heads above the low growing plants - read up on Outta's thread for her planning party and get some ideas swinging, then turn your eyes to Tils painting party and bring your rollers for transforming a pumpkin into a Gypsy caravan!! Trust me, distance is no barrier to being bossy about what you think they should be doing! Works for me (but then I did get to be Queen too - they give me all the tough jobs)! Stamp, approved (oops, sorry - I gave that one up).
Warm welcome to all of you, from the Honorary.
Oh your sweetness, we so love having a queen mother. I would so love to visit your native kingdom.
For that is very epitome of where gardening comes from. Who knows???
I think a great place to gather would be Champoeg Park which is not far from Heirloom Roses and Ferguson's Fragrant Nursery. The park is on the Willamette River and in big tall trees. It isn't too far from Interstate 5. Anyway begin to think that way PNWers. When I think more about it I can recall so many different things that are fairly close to there.
Balvenie - how did you fare with the "white crusted water"?
I ran out & rescued my Tulips & Narcissus for the vase. Took them to work & forgot all about the cold.
But I still remember my frozen knuckles from Saturday! I simply must stop talking with my hands during Winter weather. It's important to keep them warm for carrying boxes of plants at the Nursery...
Mendy! I wondered what became of you! Welcome back.
Lenjo, that baby is awesome! She definitely has a little 'fairy' in her. She is beautiful and I can tell that she is just so happy to be here.
Oneanjl, that is one sweet little boy you have there. I can certainly see that he's going to be wrapping you around his finger very quickly.
Rach,, I see you noticed the baby photos. Hmmm.
Pixydish: derived from my love of Pixies, and all things fairie, plus the fact that I used to buy and sell them on Ebay. Also bought and sold dishes, and had lots of fun with a friend haunting thriftshops, etc, looking for interesting and beautiful dishes. I still have some that I couldn't bear to sell. So hence the name Pixydish.
Real name: Melissa, but I tend to answer to 'Pixy' when the DG crowd is together. Makes me feel little and cute, which I have never been.
I am always looking for an excuse to go to Oregon and stay at L'hotel Claire ( my daughter's apartment).
Joann,
Champoeg Park is a great idea! I have camped there before, it is beautiful. I know Fergusons and Heirloom very well or should I say that they know my wallet very well! Rachel
Pixy- Yes I did notice the baby pics, and yes the clock is ticking, tick tock!
MMMMMMMMMMM
Katye, The "hard water" wasn't really as much of a nuisance as slippery muck. I see things sprouting all over the yard but soon the too-wet-to-cut grass will cover it all and I will have to resort to machetes and heavy equipment to get from one side to the other. Right now (7:55 ) there is something bright outside my window, probably just a power surge on the street light, but there is also something blue overhead, could it be blue rain clouds?? lol
This spring is so incredibly different than any we can ever recall, that is regarding the low temps. Here on our farm our main crop is marionberries and it is disconcerting to see just how little they are greening up. Getting kinda nervous, actually. When is this La Nina going to break up?
Lenjo,
We are fairly close to you. DH grew up by Mount Angel on a hops farm, good memories for him. His dad was their main mechanic for all the hops machinery. I think the farm was owned by the Sears (family name). Some of my rasberries are budding, just the Canby ones so far. The other varieties haven't woken up yet. The snow didn't last long, but I hope it warms up to normal soon,
Beth
Lenjo.. I had my first experience with marionberries when i moved up here from CA in Oct 06. They are fantastic!! My new favorite berry!! Hope the temps warm up for you and all of the growers in OR very soon. I planted one little bare root "stick" . I sure hope it grows into a plant soon..with lots of berries of course! YUM!
Praying for sunshine!!
Bea, I could probably find plants out in the field if you are interested and I come to Silverton often enough.
Thanks Lenjo..I would love to have one or two. I am running out
of room on my residential lot..how much space does one plant need? I could pick them up if it is easier as this is a busy time for
you I image... Can't wait till I can live in the 100 acre woods...
I'm a little (quite) late at this, as the subject has changed... sorry to interrupt! :) But with the adorable baby pics in here, I had to jump in.
Catgal77, comes from when I discovered ebay, couldn't find a good screen name, my friend was pezgal because she loved pez's, and I really liked my cats (now that I have kids I still love them but they drive me crazy)...
I'm Stacy
And here are Annabelle and Sam, my "garden helpers"... (with a lot of sarcasm within the "")
Cute children..love the red hair!
Thanks, that's from daddy... wish I had that red.
They're darling - and they have that impish look that lets us know they keep you mighty busy!!!!!!!!
I love the red heads too! :) I hear that gene is dying out... gotta keep it going! What a gorgeous girl in pink.... primping in the mirror, too cute! :)
The redhead gene is dying out??? I'm going to have to tell my niece to get busy - she needs to have 4 rather than 2. I can just hear her laughing at me now.
I am sure there are Oregon members who live South of me, but I haven't been able to spot any on this forum. I would also love to have a RU here in Oregon. I am afraid that I am just not able to make it to Washington physically, even tho I feel at times I'm there in spirit. Welcome back Balvenie. I missed hearing of some of your adventures with your Shelties. I was raised by Shelties when I was living at home and someday I would love to get another one. I mainly lurk because the subjects get changed so quickly I can't always keep up with them, but I always enjoy the conversations. Oh, and my DG name is the same as my nickname plus the first initial of my last name. Dotti
Welcome Dottik, I know what you mean, I even have trouble keeping up. Where is Oakland? I only know one area and thats Coos Bay.
^_^
Tils
Oakland is just North of Roseburg on the I-5 corridor, about 75 miles North-East of Coos Bay. We are about 3 hours South of Portland. Dotti
Hi Guys---I just found this thread. My best friend nicknamed me Beebonnet about 15 years ago. Funny little story to go with it. She was quilting a Sun Bonnet Sue block and her son asked her if she was quilting a Bee Bonnet Sue?? The nickname was born. My real name is Sue. Just thought I would use the name Beebonnet here. Yes, I do quilt but sewing goes out when the weather gets nice. Still waiting....
Hey Doti---We were typing at the same time. Hi----My Sis lives in Roseburg. Nice to meet you.---Sue
Hi Sue,
What a great name!
Sue
Hi to you, too, Dotti! :)

How wonderful to have more people joining us!
Hi all you newcomer lurkers! I'm with DottiK on the fast paced, rapidly changing threads here. I read something, then forget where I read it before I can respond. These Washingtonians are real chatterboxes, I can vouch for that!
Coos Bay is so pretty. I don't think I've ever been as far south as Roseburg on I 5. I would like to get to Canby OR in August or September though. How far is Swan Island Dahlias from Champoeg Park? Lenjo, anyone?
Ditto my "Yea" vote for all redheads and cute babies and kids in generaL! There used to be a mom toting 5 adorable red heads in a white van that visited the farm and feed store we frecuent. So cute to see them all: one more 'carrot topped' than the next from age about 8 down to wee baby! The funny thing is, all of us others adore the red head and they, by and large, wish they were anything but! Same thing with freckles.
Nice to meet y'all here!
Annie but you can call me Pooch
