I was just browsing on the Northeast forum and they are making a list with DG name-real name and state they live in. Wondered if we could do that? Check it out. Patricia
A sticky list with real names.
yes - saw it & I'm on it as I hang out there - fun place.
very do-able - I started one already!
I do need to ask Eleanor(grammyphoeb) if there is anything that i might have overlooked.
I'll post soon - ha! ours won't be as long as theirs is, though!
Nor as many states I'll wager. They sound as nutty as we do.
They are worse! And the seat-belt is mandatory: many side trips along the way.
Not for the faint of heart, read: topic changes on a dime within one thread... FUN!
Um, just first names or first and last? This is still the internet, No offense, but I'm not sure we'd all appreciate having our names listed...
I like mine to stay as Tilly I like it better than my own. LOL
It's first name only. You don't have to, but many are obvious and others can be guessed by any member that reads through the threads.
In any case, it was a way for the newer folks to get to know the others.
Mine is pretty much right out there, so, It's not a big deal to me.
However, I do understand both sides.
The Brugmansia forum has a real name posting.... it is way long!!
For me: Sannajane = Sanna
(Sounds like Donna with an "s")
Very common in the Scandinavian countries ~ I'm named after my mother's best friend.
First names, Ok, you're right, in some cases it is definitely obvious, and no big deal, I'm just not wild about having my whole name out there.
I don't want my whole name out there.
Me either. But I am (aka) Tasmanian Devil 2. Now I have outed myself...
You'll never guess mine!
Okay now where did the Taz come from? are we talking CB handles, nicknames?
Could it be Don or Gordo? :0)
I am hyper. That is why "Turbo weeding" originated:
kate/Taz+coffee+disdain for weeds+ not enough time = turbo weeding.
Cool
Scary Mary LOL
=:0o
Never know what I will come up with.
I remember when folks got their undies in a bunch over phone numbers and addresses - and what a horror to find out that one can not only get a map to your house, an aerial photo is now easily accessed. It surely can be a jungle out there - even when you live in the city.
Jayne (not my real name - just my jungle name)
You older members who have met each other use the real name in your posts anyway, t hat is why it is so confusing.
I sometimes do, sometimes don't-I kind of like using the screen names, actually, but I try to remember to use real names if I think someone has a preference for it, but that doesn't mean I always remember to.
Actually, I so enjoy the screen names - I really struggle to call Tills, Murmur, or Pixy by anything else - I just find their names suit them so well. And Outta!!!! Perfect. And Rachier - that just feels so nicely family. And I love the way names get shortened - MHF and WW, and who gets their's left in tack: susiebell and nwgordon - Growin I mistook for a woman, he's so cool (I was crushed to find he's a bloke, but loved when everyone was going to sneak in as Ninjas and help him with liberating some seeds and find a girlfriend I think - but alas, it does mean that his enviable truck is driven by a man - takes some of the beauty out of it for me, great truck, looks like a dog in the passenger seat truck), and then of course, do you prefer Sofer or Steve? Give me sofer anytime!
I agree with you about the DG names. I just thought a list with real ones would be nice as a reference. My name comes from the book "Wind in the Willows". I read as a very young child and once dumped my copy in the snow while being chased by a bull. Would anyone believe that. I still have the book and it still has an impression of the paper cover on it from being wet. We got away from the bull because we were close to a fence and the snow was deep for him also. About 2".
Been wondering on the pronunciation of Rachier - cuz when it is combined w/ rabbit - I see it as Rancher or Raunchy or Ratchet .......my eyes are getting too fuzzy, obviously
Me too. I just say Ray-- Chirr. I like your name also. Dancing is one of my favorite thing to do. Or is it dank? Reminds my of a Kevin Bacon movie.
I actually love my Murmur name (it's my grandma name - given to me by my now 20 year old granddaughter when she was about 16 months old . . . and it stuck . . . not only with the grandkids, but my daughters' friends, the grandkids' friends, etc.).
That's great. My daughter calls me Muzzy.
That has a wonderful, loving sound to it!
I think a reference is good, so we can figure it out when people switch between names referring to someone from one post or thread to another. Mauryhillfarm, Mauryhill, Maury, MHF, or my own name, Holly, are all fine with me.
LOL - we do have our abbreviations, etc., don't we??!!
I'm Annie. I've been Poochella since going online in 1994 that my siblings, friends and my own mother call me 'Pooch.' Being pressured for a screen name when first going online, I sure wasn't going to put out my own full name, so in walked our beautiful dog whose nickname was 'Poochella' and a screenname was born.
I may have to sue this store for name infringement: they don't give a year of incorporation or formation, but I bet I have them beat!

That is some nice puppywear!! You should at least get a nice outfit for your dog, the REAL poochella!
My screenname came to me when I was talking with my mom about the NW garden and flower show. And NW Gordon was born.
I think all know where mine came from, Just like Pooch. Fur babies
Tilly and Ratso.
I have noticed you Washingtonians seems to dominate the PNW forum. LOL Where are the rest of the Oregonians? I am a little jealous really of how well you all seem to know each other and how often you seem to gather.
When I first signed up here on Dave's there were so few of us from the PNW, I was an oddity as most everyone else seemed like they were east of the Mississippi River.
I am not too clever so my name is just my hubby and mine combined, I am the Jo half , or Joann.
Joann, friends of mine from Olympia were just in Mt. Angel yesterday - and loved it.
Well, shoot, I would love to meet fellow dgers anytime, I actually live east of town on the farm.
These particular friends aren't DGers - yet! I think she will be unable to resist much longer as she knows how wonderful it has been for me in so many ways!
Ok, Joann, since you posted I will post too. Yes, where are all the Oregonians on this forum??? Not that it's bad that you Washingtonians have so much fun. LOL
I wasn't very creative with my screen name...it's just my initials. My real name is Mendy.
We do have quite a few Oregon DGers here, They may have not seen this tread yet, I will let them know.

And welcome
Tills
^_^
I hope more of you post! IF I ever get my vacation I am doing a nursery tour thru Wa and Or. Hoped to find DGers along the way and stop and say hi! Thought it would be fun!
