^_^

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Has anyone let Pelletory, Resin and Wallaby1 know about this?

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

I just checked the Bird Watching Forum and don't see any thread regarding this and there are several members whose names seem to pop up a lot over there that would probably love to know and add their input here. So, maybe the person who started this thread (hint hint ^_^) can drop a brief note and link back to here! We want lots of interest to get this one up and going.
Can't wait to add some of my brother's images like this one he took while vacationing in Ecuador two months ago.

I did start a request thread over there, I'll bump it up and provide a link, thanks for the reminder!!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Got it and also added my *bump*!

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

I was just searching for such a resource. It would be great!

Marlton, NJ

I think a Bird ID Files would be a great addition to the site!

Later on I would have some questions.

I'll put this in the Daily Pics thread so everyone will see it. :-)

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Yep, sounds like a good idea to me.

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

Wonderful idea!

San Francisco Bay Ar, CA(Zone 9b)

Sounds great!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Hebron, KY

Last year, I was very interested in having one, although I didn't say it here at Dave's Garden, so yes, count me in!

Klamath River, CA

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm for it.

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm all for this addition to Dave's. I think it would be wonderful to be able to look up birds right here where I hang my hat. :-) Imagine all of the birders we could convert to gardening! Woooohoooooooooooooo ^_^

Janet!!!

North Augusta, ON

Look at all of the support!!!

Dave won't have any choice but to give in to us if we keep this up ^_^

Thanks everybody.

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

It would be so nice to come to one site and check out the birds instead of searching through the internet search engines.

Macomb, MI(Zone 5b)

I'm with Indiana_lily & Debroots...
Pelletory, Resin & Wallaby1 are amazing and highly knowledgeable...
I've learned so much from just reading all the posts!

Marlton, NJ

I put a link to this in the Wildlife and Gardening for Wildlife threads. ^_^

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Good, I see a lot of bird post still in there. What about hummingbird/butterfly forum too?

Marlton, NJ

Go right ahead Mrs Ed and if anyone of you want to post it in your regional forums do so. :-)

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Okay, It's in Hummingbird/Butterfly forum and Central Midwest. I'll tell everyone at the Iowa Roundup next weekend too.

Marlton, NJ

I put it in the Photos forum.

North Augusta, ON

Good one, I never thought of there...this is so cool, it is going to be an awesome resource.

Pasadena, CA(Zone 9b)

Great idea! I love all the birdies in my yard and would love to be able to come here to find info. Even what kinds of flowers and plants will attract certain birds, etc.

Melbourne, FL

Very much needed, I think.

Churchill, Victoria, Australia(Zone 10a)

I am fully in favour of adding BirdFiles to dave's Garden, but if implemented, shouldn't it go further. Mammals, Reptiles and Amphibians should be added as well, and just possibly fish too to complete the coverage of the vertebrate fauna.

The structure could be much the same as for BugFiles, with Order and Family recorded for each species, but I think it would also require that the class be recorded to separate
Mammalia - Mammals
Aves - Birds
Reptilia - Reptiles
Amphibia - Amphibians
and perhaps
Pisces - Fish
Selachii - Sharks and Rays

:-(
that is a pout not a frown

I would support a Vertebrate Files because I love all creatures, photographing and trying to identify every creature that I cross paths with
BUT....
I would prefer to see a Bird Files. I could probably come up with some pretty logical reasons if asked why
BUT then again
Fauna Files sounds pretty but doesn't that include invertebrates?
Fauna Files to include:
_Bug Files
_Bird Files
_Herp Files
_and so on Files

Biblical proportions!!!!

Klamath River, CA

I agree with angele. Let's keep it simple.

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

I can see daves head smoking.

Im for a birdfiles and any other files yall come up with.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

I would love to see a birdfiles.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Clearly, you can't have one for everything. Birdwatching has been growing tremendously in popularity the last few years. The birdwatching forum has daily participation by an ever increasing group to vouch for it's popularity.

I think most of us can identify most mammals we encounter.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, the thing is that birds are a part of the garden. Many of us design our garden around the birds and so it is more appropriate to add a bird files than a mammal files. Just my thought.
