Hi Lucy! Hope your arm feels better soon!
DG Names.....What's your real name??
Boojum is Kathy. I know her from Orchids.
Don, the poem is delightful. Let's eat. My place or yours?
Laurel
We'll be away a bit so gardening aches & pains will go away only to start again. Potted some irises which just came in from Australia which nicely made it rain.
Have fun, Lucy, wherever you're going!
That was a really lovely, surreal post...
~* Robin Ha, ha....
Don - another clever poem.......you have a true gift!!
Have fun, Lucy!!
My real name is Susan -waaay too formal-so just Sue! Or if I'm in trouble you can call me Susan-then I know I'm in the doghouse!
This is amazing, I cannot believe you are all coming to true terms in regards to your real names hahahaha! I am going to have to post this in my computer so that when I answer i thread i call you by your name, I like that! Clemen
WC will never tell.
Coming to terms with our real names is easy, I'm fearing the day we'll get to photos...
So I went to DD's LiveJournal today which, I swear, she shares with me. Isn't this amazing as it started with a thread regarding her name, history of her name/s English and Hebrew and feelings about her names. Then she did a shout out for folks to comment on their names. Here is one of her friend's replies...
"It's strange how compelling a subject naming can be, and the sheer enormity of its convention. Excuse me if I'm plucking an old tune, but this story was told to me by a grandmother and I recently re-read it in an autobiography of Wilma Mankiller, whom was principal chief of the Cherokee nation.
There's power in a name, so much power in fact that the old ways of healing referred to it. If a person came ill, and there was no idea as to their affliction it was thought that there very name was sick. The changing of a name is a sacred and deeply personal thing, many wouldn't change theirs even if the changing could free them from affliction. In a lot of ways the stripping of a name has stripped many people, including the Cherokee, of their very culture.
I am Jonathan Lyle Summers. My name means "Given of God," I wasn't named after any family members, but my mother believes it to be incredibly apt considering my body wasn't supposed to be strong enough to live. I am called "Jon" these days and in high school most doubled that into "JonJon." I will never know why. I wouldn't trade it for the world."
I have known this "child" since he was fourteen. he is now in his early twenties. I do have faith in the next generation.
MaypopLaurel
That is so beautiful, Laurel. Nice of you to share it.
Don, your best yet!
Amy, I agree - WC (WaterCan2) needs to 'fess up!
WC may be opting to use this passage in the 1st post.
"You don't have to post if you feel uncomfortable doing so. "
Just found the thread ...
Yeppers! I am Candyce.
(And I really don't like the nickname "Candy")
Thanks for posting my name on the list! I try to sign all my posts with my real name, too. Because we do get together and I like to remember who I have talked to.
My name is Garden, because I do, and mart so that I remember my real name, which is getting to be an more interesting exercise as the years go on.
I am Martha, not Mart, or Marty, who was the captain of the football team and in my homeroom in high school for 4 years. I am the Other Martha, you know, I am NOT her!
Martha

Yuck - I just checked my post above. I had everything space nicely and now it's all bunched in together. I did it in excel so I don't know if you can copy it and save it and then reformat it!! That's above and beyond me, but you're welcome to do whatever with it!! Eleanor
I think spaces are automatically eliminated - you did fine.
What state we are from - or what state we live in?
i am from St. Louis, MO.
i live in CT for now.
^_^
I'm in a state of confusion.
You already got me up there, but I thought I'd chime in and tell you myself. I'm Harper.
Wow, Eleanor! You even alphabetized it! Thanks!!
Very nice, Eleanor! Adding the state is a good idea! Thanks!
The computer alphabetized it!! Except for Victor, it's the state you live in so that will give us an idea of the weather, etc. I know the state is listed with the screen name but I forget who's who and where they are located when I'm posting!! Victor's state is a mental one!! Eleanor
poor Victor
Victor lives in a positive state of mind - a place we should all reside.
I agree, pirl. I've not seen Victor post anything that would hint that he's depressed. Well, except maybe when his laptop was sick.
definitely!

Well ..... we all know that.... of course.
At least you know where you are!!!
I live in the Twilight Zone... peeps here often refer to themselves as "Bing-a-Lings."
How weird is that?
Happy to have born in Manhattan, NY.
~* Robin
Manhattan just has to be NY!
Robin - Victor informed us early on that you were born in THE City! LOL
Victor, got room for more in your state???? Eleanor
Sorry I'm late - as usual - and I see someone already gave away my top secret alias of Carrie. Hmm. Interesting, Gabagoo, that you so dislike Nan and Nanny. My DD#2 is Nancy. Her great-grandmother was Nancy and my aunt is Nance so my Nancy is Nan or Nanny at home. (I think at school she gets Nance a lot, though.) xx, secret agent
I confess, I did it Carrie!! You will no longer be known as carrielamont, but Carrie!!! Eleanor
p.s. - I like to make lists of things!! LOL
Robin - where in Manhattan?
Thank you, Eleanor. I really don't quite get it when people call me carrielamont - especially since I sign almost all my posts! It's not like PrimroseSue, where maybe her name is Primrose, and NOBODY calls Victor victorgardener! (I don't get no respect!!!) xx, Carrie
Eleanor and Sue, thanks for all the hard work as I could not imagine me with a pencil and paper writing all this down.
How come I'm the only one from Michigan I feel so lonely :0(
Gloria
