hoya carnosa.....the bloom lasted 3 weeks.
Tropical garden #8
Nice bromeliads Candela..
You have fun plants ricfl. Very nice Palms...what are the ones in the first pictures.
I bet you were busy in the garden this weekend Rita, sorry to have missed you. I thought at least one of the boys would have been at the plant affair on saturday. I had brought up a snowbank for Jerry, he was admiring it when he came through the garden it a couple weeks ago.
I don't think this is the time of year for the blooms, however.....this surprised me..this was the very first bloom of the chalice vine I have- Hope there will be more during it's normal blooming season.
Hi RJ, I hope that you had a good time in Waxahachie. I am sorry that I did not get to see you. I knew that I would not be able to attend the plant party. That day was my wedding annirversery and I also had to cater to my mom (more shopping). She left at noon Sunday, I came home and worked on my GH until dark.
I bet that you were real excited to see your chalice vine bloom, I was, when I saw the blooms on this plant ; Stromanthe sanquinea 'Tricolor'
Fred, do you have your gardenia in the shade?
Hap
I have gardenias all over the place. Full sun, total shade and in between. The best bloom seems to be in areas where they are protected but still get varying degrees of sunlight. The total shade ones are struggling to bloom while the full sun ones were the first to bloom but then they also need a certain amount of water or they get straggly and weak. Weak gardenias like all plants are susceptible to desease and bugs which they can't fight off. My only problem with these plants is the sand they have to grow in. I mulch heavy and fertilize using food marked for acid loving plants.
Fred
PS I just had some people here estimating a job and they thought the aroma came from my jasmine as they never even got close to the gardenias. They wanted to know what kind of jasmine that was. I explained that it was the gardenias they were smelling. With the jamine you have to get right on top of them to smell them.
I haven't seen the sanquinea 'Tricolor' before..cool looking.
Yes, I knew you wouldn't be there, but thought mabe one of the boys would have. Say hi to them when you see them.
Here is my new purchase from the dammaged statue section. I've been shopping for statue of David, but haven't wanted to spend the 300 plus bucks they charge...this guy was 85.00. Here's a hint..go to the broken section, they give bargains, and when they put them back together..they do a good job.
RJ,
What was sticking out on David that got broken off? (hehehe)
LOL Hap!!!
RJ,
The newly re-landscaped section looks great! Did you buy David from a national or local store?
I bought it from a local place called Frazures- The place is acres of fountains, pillars and statues..I spent 2 hours there...and that didn't include the garden chochke inside
And what is there that would be just magnificent in my garden?
My hand doesn't have that many fingers!
Pick out something I can't live without.
Christi
Rj, it seems as your newly acquired garden art and bench looks like it has always been there, they fit in quite nicely. I am always moving my new acquisitions around the garden to find just the right spot for them. That can be quite hard on the back.
I love the new statue of David, great buy.
Yipee,
Can't wait to see you, Cass.
