Definitely! I just checked, the tomatoes are a little leggy.. but I'm sure you will be be able to bring them to a green, leafy state! :)
Plants I have for Newcastle Swap
I am forecasting Corn Chowder, with cornbread & a SLIGHT chance of Brownies.
I think we are all a bit skittish, including me, myself & I, due to the prolonged cold weather & those exciting memories of "Winter Driving on Icy Hills". Remember? I do.
However, as a realist & optimist-wanna-be, I think we'll be able to get there, but possibly not as early as hoped. All that depends on you particular location & if low temps slammed your area.
It was snowing in Issaquah earlier, and i have about 3/4" on the lawn, here in Sammamish. When I got back from the store -9:15-ish, it was 35°. I expect it to drop down below freezing & at 9:00 am be slightly above.
I swear I am not channeling Steve Pool or Jeff Renner, but unless we get smothered by this cold air mass, I think we're going to fare quite well.
Nevertheless - this does not absolve anyone from their "placating the Faeries" duty.
Please comply. And hurry!
JB - I think it's safe to say that some may be later than 10. I am planning on getting there ASAP with Kathy. If not, we'll be in my car passed out from deviled egg overindulgence somewhere on SR 900. =:0)
I'm looking at a good 6-8" of snow with more coming down. Driving frontwheel drive car now so it should make it. Just a quick stop at MLT and should be there no later than 10:30.
Gordon, are you driving and using a laptop?
Of course we'll miss you, Mary. And it will be cold.
Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun-hope everyone has a great time, wish I could make it.
Gordon - 6-8 inches of snow? Eeeeek. I was counting on less than that and I'm not so far from you . . .
Sue - do you have any snow? The latest weather warnings I've seen are for all up and down the Washington and Oregon "eastside".
Snow here.
Nope, no snow here-yet, anyhow. The latest warning for my does mention the possibility, but I don't know if it will get as low as 220ft. They're also predicting a low of 36'. I still covered my lilies and hostas, just in case-and filled the garage with all my newest plant friends that I'd been trying in various places. Worst part is that I'm sort of "outed" as far as DH is concerned. I don't think he had realized how many there really were. It doesn't look like all that many when they're scattered everywhere....
How much snow do you have now?
I have about a 1" and a Half, it has stopped, but not melting, my babies are protected under the firs, they made it through the last one. and use to it, most came from Heidis, lived out all winter.
36 degrees and partly cloudy here. Last precipitation was around 6:30 in the form of sleet for about 5 minutes. Keeping my fingers crossed. Of course, my fairies know I love them.
The real question is : GORDON! Are you driving and using a laptop at the same time?? You have not answered Momma Tilly's question yet.
If that young man is driving and using a laptop at the same time, will someone please give him a spanking tomorrow at the party? The very idea!
I have about 1.5 inches. It stopped at around 8:30 and it's only sleeted since then. But it's not melting, either.
Sue - funny about being "outed". It does look like more when they're all in one place . . .
Thank you Pix. Bad very bad Boy.
Momma Tilly, LOL like it.
Lots of snow but have already been out and its not bad at all. I was interviewed by King5 news so see if you see me!
No snow at all here. Looks like barely any rain overnight. See you soon!
Carl's watching the news right now, keeping an eye out for our own celebrity! Gordon, you didn't answer if you were driving and using the laptop?!
LOL Gordon is a movie star...moving to AZ huh?
Well I'm heading over to Pixy's now to pickup a few more plants then I'm headed to Jacquie's! Still snowing here, we have about an inch. Hugs, Rachel
No, I am not driving with a laptop! Just plants and lasagna!
Good Morning everyone. Hope you all have a great day and stay warm. It is snowing like crazy here. Very large snowflakes. Nothing sticking and 40 this morning. Just saw the hummingbird go by. We also had several snow shower yesterday.
PIx, of course your police friend used his laptop from the car...they're wired in....There are lots of folks who work with laptops in the cars in many fields-totally necessary to do so, in fact.... Now, actually typing or mousing while driving is pretty tricky, definitely an acquired skill...
no snow here at all. I actually wish it would - the nice, bright white stuff could be a real "upper" in this house.
Murmur, I'm sorry if you are feeling down today. I've been reading your prayer thread and it is amazing. Hope you both are doing okay. I think everyone who is home today went to the plant swap. Wish I could go to those things they have. It sounds like so much fun. We are having snow, rain and sunshine today. And crazy people are out on the golf course playing. Always thinging of you and wishing you the best. Patricia
Thank you, Patricia (or WW!), DH has had a couple of bad days with things not working right so it ended up dragging me down as well - most of the time I can stay "above" it, but not today.
I do have some experience with knowing people who had pancreatic cancer. It is a terrible thing to go through. I think you are doing the best you can and all your friends at DGs must be good for you. My DH has been diagnosed with Parkinson's so we are just starting down the road. He has had diabetes for 35 years and has high blood pressure also. My mom lives here and is 90. I think she is the healthiest one here.^_^
Patricia
Oh, Patricia, I'm sorry to hear that - I know Parkinson's is not an easy one either and my heart goes out to both of you.
I don't know what I would do without my DG friends. I have other friends as well, some going back as far as 55+ years, but there's definitely something special about the folks that hang out here.
Their love for growing things and their great sense of fun!
For sure! And also their compassion and support.
Thank you all so much for all the WONDERFUL plants! I am so glad I was able to make it, and meet a bunch of you, and learn, and eat yummy food!! I can't wait to get these guys into the ground! Now, while trying to plan out my beds, I just thought of another question, which I may start a new thread on... watering. What is the best way to keep these guys hydrated? I know its best to keep the plants with the same watering needs together, but I just don't know the best way to set up a low-waste type irrigation system. Yeah, I think I will start a new thread on it. Anywho, thanks again everyone, can't wait until the next gathering I am able to attend!!
Stacy
A big thank you for the hostess for such a nice and very organized plant swap! I kept my sign! Nice house and great yard! Of course came home with a car load of plants! Met some very nice people and enjoyed myself long after the main trading was done with.
Brrrrr - it was like January out there. But I had a great time. Jacquie's yard is stunning - I can hardly wait to see her pictures of it when spring finally breaks through. Thanks for the plants, everybody. Tomorrow will be sorting and indexing of plants for at least a little bit.
Carole and WIllowwind - I'm so sorry for your challenges. And today can't have been good for anybody's spirits. Let's just all say a chant to the faeries, get to be early and hope for some of that healing sunshine tomorrow. Hang in there, gals. Wish you both could have been there today.
Jacquie - thank you so much for your hospitality & warm house!
I too, am anxious to see all the other plants emerge & co-mingle.
Please take pics and post for us - we have serious visual "needs" here!
Kathy and i stopped by Squak Mountain Nursery on the way home. We were greeted with more snow/hail/rain, but braved it to have a look-see at the plants that have come in.
Of course, we emptied our wallets, and to our credit - exercised at least a minimum of restraint. Going back soon....
today was fun & cold & exhilirating & curse the cold - I need something warmer!!!
Sounds like all had a good time.
Thanks to everyone for a great time and wonderful plants! Jacquie is a wonderful hostess and I so enjoyed visiting her yard between snow/sleet showers! I am going to download some pictures now. Be back in a minute.
