I didn't say that right. I meant: H. fraterna is really unusual, not like many other species.
April Blooms
All your blooms are so beautiful, I am so envious! I do have a few "in bud," but nothing blooming yet. Shephardii, cv Noelle, multiflora, and juanngoiana all are progressing. Sad to say that cv Iris Marie blasted her buds....Oh well, I can (and do!) live vicariously through the pictures here! Good growing everyone!
Karen
Lin, I will be on the lookout for another variegated Hoya variegated Kerri.........if it will make you feel better, I killed mine, too.
Christine, it is upside down. I turned the blooms up to get better light.
Say, how does your fraterna look now?
Willow...what a GREAT shot!!!! Don't you love the fragrance?
Awanda...very pretty. 'Bright One' is one of my favorite pubicalyxes!!!!
Carol
Carol, I do love it. Smells like butterscotch candy. I wish I could bottle it up and take it to work with me lol.
Jen
Willow...I think your husband should just give you the camera....thats a great shot!!
ric
H. heuschkeliana: One I must remember! Uh oh ... I think I'm in BIG Trouble! That is an Awesome bloom! So different from other hoyas! Oooh and did someone say it is fragrant too? Now I know that's one I must put on my list of wanted hoyas!
And, I agree ... that is a great shot!
Hej! Christina....beautiful shots! I believe it has been determined (by DL and CMB) that what we called/call H. pimentelliana is really H. cagayanensis.... As the hoya turns......
Aloha
Hey Awanda - that looks just like my previously unknown pubicalyx...it must also be cv. "Bright One." I was surprised to see that many of the flowers only had 4 petals (corollas? excuse my ignorance). I like "Pink Silver" a little more because of the contrasted white/pink blooms.
Nice variegated Kerrii, Carol. Mine refused to grow! It's put on 3 leaves, in 3 years...meanwhile, the green one is huge and budding up.
Julia
Oh, what beautiful sunny hoya blooms! For a yellow bloom, I especially love that H. montana!
H. pimentelliana is one of the cuttings I ordered in the Spring DL order and I was confused when I received it ... it had the same IML number of the one I ordered but it did say H. cagayanensis. Unfortunately it was the worse one of the 6 cuttings. I cut into the stem and there doesn't seem to be much soft wood, I don't think it's going to survive. :(
Christine, when my fraterna bloomed the flowers were flat for a few days and then the petals turned back really sharply, so that they looked like shooting stars, a bit. Yours didn't? Maybe the temperature of something. Beautiful either way, ain't it?
Willow, the heuschkeliana photo is very nice. They always seem to want to be slightly out of focus for some reason.
DL said that the name pimentelliana changed to cagayanensis. I got it too and it is losing leaves daily. Sigh!
Mine didn't have any leaves on it ... they were all yellow and in the newspaper wrappings. The stems were really light in color and brittle.
Skippity hop hop giggle giggle - found another budding peduncle on cv Iris Marie (the other one blasted). These are a little further along, so keeping my fingers crossed. How I'd love to see her bloom!
Karen
t's gonna knock your socks off, Karen!!!!
Thanks everyone for the compliments. Everyone's flowers are so beautiful. I love that H. Montana bloom. Such a pretty shade of yellow.
Jen
Karen,
How old is your cv. Iris Marie? Mine is five years old, huge and has never even attempted to form a peduncle. I'm hoping this may be my year to see it bloom as well.
Doug
Doug...lots of warmth and good high indirect light! Mine lives outdoors and gets tons of water!!!!! Blooms all year long.
I really think one of the clues to blooming (and happy hoyas) is aircirculation!!!!
Doug - I have her in a south-facing window in my sunroom, where I also have two ceiling fans running and a humidifier. So, like Carol says, she gets lots of warmth and air circulation. I've had her less than a year - got her as cuttings in the AlohaHoya Coop. (Coop. forum on DG) last June. The first peduncle blasted it's buds, so I'm hoping this one makes it! Here's a pic of the whole plant.....
Karen
I don't believe it but my callistophylla that bud blasted twice is trying again! What a determined hoya! I am keeping it damp this time.
Way to grow, Karen.
I love, love, love my cv. Iris Marie. I only wish she bloomed all year, but, once she starts she keeps on blooming! Doug, mine took several years to start blooming just as yours. I had wonderful luck using Alaska no nitrogen fertilizer, but, it is no longer sold in my area.
I am in awe of all the nice photos and blooms.
Thanks, Mel!
Sistah K I can imagine and share in your excitement, my sp. Chicken Farm finally has a peduncle on it. I go to the gh every morning to see if it's gotten larger:-). My cv. IM is just sitting there, doing nada.
Blessings,
Awanda

Boojum-
My callistophylla is doing the same thing! It's blasted twice so far (different peduncles). Now the first one to blast is trying again. I might try moving a fan in there for the air circulation to see if that helps. And you said to keep it damp?
Beccalynns it's good to find a friend to commiserate!! Well the last two times it blasted I had done my weekly watering the night before. Carol said they really like to be watered a lot so I thought I'd try keeping it damp so that it's consistently getting water instead of dry and wet cycles. Just a stab in the dark. I don't yet "understand" what makes this plant bast it's flowers but it keeps giving me more chances to learn about it!!
Well - so many things are so relative! With a lose mix where the roots have air...damp is really good. In a thick mix like Promix with no chunky bits...damp is ...well...can be deadly.
Carol
