Here's some shots of a Green Heron from last September at Herbert's Pond. The pond is completely covered with bloom in this series. I'm not proud of them, but I love the content. ;-)

Waiting for dinner to come by.

You all have been very busy sharing your lovely pics of so many different birds and I have enjoyed looking at them all! We are having tornado warnings today and this is such a nice diversion! Hmmm...guess I'd better shut my computer down...see ya all later!!

I suspect it is at least four . . .

Jays have got this thing called a 'sublingual pouch' in their throat, where they can stuff lots of food to take away to hide for a rainy day . . . it'll hold more than you might think!

The Redpolls were in feeding frenzy this morning, I knew something was up, clouding over
with snow this afternoon, and rain tomorrow. so pictures are not as good.

Here's a bunch of them feeding with a Mourning Dove.

oh burn, here's hoping you'll be snow free soon!!!

Resin, FOUR goobers in Adels Steller?? wowee

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

I can't wait, for that snow to go. Will appreciate the green, when it comes. But since the grackles showed their faces, it gives me hope it won't be long now. Did the Robins make it to your place Mrs_Ed? You might have mentioned it somewhere, but forgot. It happen to me a lot lately hmmm, not a good sign!!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Yes, we've had Robins since the beginning of the month. I saw a kildeer a couple of weeks back too.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I ran across this old photo from 2004. That's a couple cameras ago for me too! We were treated to a robin's nest under our patio and this little guy/girl was raised. This picture is from the last day in the nest. I could not believe HOW big it got!

Since then we've had to redo the patio so this post area is not available, sadly.

Must of been fun to watch. They do grow big, it's amusing to watch adults feed them. I had a nest in my blue spruce, with 2 baby Robins, last year. I posted a picture of it on another thread. The nest was way to close to the ground. They didn't make it. Something got to them one night.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

awww. sorry to hear that Burn.

I'll be looking forward to seeing all the babies on the forum this year. I did not come along until the end-ish of the summer last year.

A couple of years ago I kept finding fledgeling cardinals in the garden. They had nested nearby and were apparently learning to fly. I would move them outside the fence so that the dogs would not hurt it for some reason. Was pretty fun to see how cute they were.

Orangeburg, SC(Zone 8a)

Wish I had a camera that would take decent shots of the goldfinches I'm getting now. Sometimes there are at least 75 on my small deck or right outside my front door. And, man, can they wolf down some serious seed! Many of them have come into their breeding plumage in the past couple of weeks. I'll miss them when they move upstate soon to actually breed.
And the cedar waxwings I've had! My spring break was week before last and I spent it working in the garden. The flock would shriek as they flew from tree to tree in my yard and the surrounding ones. They were just like kids at a water park in my bird baths! "Cannonballs!!!!!"
