Harper's Birthday - Part 5!

All I can add is...forget the cuppa...tastes like chicken. Well, more like frogs' legs, which kindda' tastes like chicken. On the plus side, you don't have to go gigging or to Paris. It's even good previously frozen!

LOL, Laurel!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

You are much more adventuresome with food than I am, Laurel! Is gator tail high in cholesterol? LOL I'd guess yes, given their diet. Ugh

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

FLO also designed Forest Park in Springfield - a large city park about 7 blocks from where I live :-)

OK now I get what "gigging " means................

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I love Olmstead's designs. I'd love to go travelling one day for a year and visit gardens around the country. His are definitely on my list. First I gotta buy the winnebago.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I learned a good history lesson while reading about his designs in Boston. Now I know why 'Fenway' is called 'Fenway'. Thanks for sparking the interest in Olmstead, Carrie.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

No problem, Candyce, although it's Olmsted. I used to spell it your way, too, and if you search Olmstead you'll get hits on google.

xx, Carrie

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

My neighbors named their dog Fenway!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I wonder if they know what FENWAY comes from? How long have they lived in the area, Sue? It's not something the young and the restless would necessarily know. Or maybe they just named him after their favorite ball park. Or their favorite stretch of road?

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Carrie, thanks for the correction on the "Olmstead" vs. Olmsted misspelling. A tad embarrassing if I claim to be a fan. Well, that was my "learn something new every day" moment. Thanks again. I do need to learn more about the man though.

Laurel

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Laurel, don't be embarrassed, I was spelling it "Olmstead" in my next-to-last drafts of the article and I drive past 'Olmsted Estates' every day. Of course, they're not really estates, more like official plywood shacks. ^_^ Carrie

Harper, today is "Eat Dessert First Day" . . . so, seeing that it's your 'birthday', go for it!

Happy birthday, Harper!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Mmmm, I have a candy bar sitting next to me, tempting me. Can I go for it?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Up to you, my dear. All signs point to ....?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

It was gone within seconds. It was a Payday. How could I resist?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

One of my favorite candy bars..love O'Henery " too.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I have 2 lbs of special chocolates delivered by my step-daughter sitting on the bed within inches of me. I'm saving it for an emergency. Actually, emergencies. I remember how you felt last year, Celeste, when your kids were leaving - it feels like cutting off your arm! And my DD is not even gone yet - it's just knowing that she will be. So I'm saving my bridge mix for a DD-related emergency, and they seem to be cropping up more and more frequently.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I must keep M&Ms and Kisses on hand at all times! I have too many daughters and granddaughters not to have chocolate within arm's reach!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Ha ha ha ha, you poor thing, you need lots of chocolate!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

If I run out, carrie, I'm coming down there to capture yours!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

OK. I usually keep it in the sock drawer, barring emergencies!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

M&M are ALWAYS in my house...usually within an arms reach. Hee he he

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

All this talk about chocolate. Now, I've got to go out ans replenish my stash!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm LOCKING my sock drawer. . .

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

No worries, Carrie!
I have to drive into town today anyway. Your sock drawer is safe! ~LOL~

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Um, er, DD#2 and I watched Juno last night and, well, I'm down to 1.5 pounds of chocolates. Next time I'm waiting for a REAL emergency, though.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I bought a small bag of thin mints while I was out yesterday.
It's been a rough couple of months lately.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Candyce, maybe you better haul out the heavy-duty "fat" mints instead! (No insult intended.)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

LOL, Sue!
It couldn't hurt!
(You see, I weighed in at a whopping 118 lbs this week)

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Uh... 118 isn't "whopping" Candyce.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yeah, I know. That's why I can indulge my chocolate craving whenever I wish to do so!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

They can't figure out how to weigh me! Last time (in 1998) I was 121 but I am sure I'm a little more now, or maybe even a lot more. Things outside my control (medications etc.) affect my weight and appetite. I found it hard to gain weight while pregnant, for instance, and easy to lose weight as a young mommy because I never made real food for myself, I lived off leftover frozen fish sticks and baby food. It sounds horrible! I eat much healthier now, thank goodness. Boy, that really does sound like a yucky diet - good thing it was supplemented with Cheerios, carrot sticks and cheese cubes, LOL.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Did you like Juno?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Well . . . . I had seen it already at least twice on jetBlue flights!(Both with and without sound.) I thought it was er, unrealistic. But it provoked interesting discussions with each of my fertile young daughters! Have you seen it? What did you think?

Oh dear I don't dare to weigh in. I have not done it in a year. I know I will tilt the scales high.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I was 120-124 before I quit smoking....can almost bet the farm im not that anymore!! lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Eat all that good stuff from your own farm, Celeste, and with all the exercise you'll be getting, you'll be back.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I loved Juno. I think there are a lot of kids like her.
