This is my favorite photo. A Green Heron had just caught a wiggling minnow. He swallowed, then had 2 sips of water to wash it down.

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Gosh what wonderful subject matter you Floridians have!

Chisolm, those Moorhens are so great.

Nanny, "pervert" I doubt it!

Resin, you are correct. The Amish farmers love the land, farm every tillable acre, and their fertilizer is all natural -- anyone living in this valley can attest to that! Sure doesn't smell like roses, but it doesn't harm the birds and other wildlife either. There are as many horse and buggies on our roads as their are cars.

dellrose, you'll have to Mockingbird blind to hide behind.

The Red-Bellied Woodpeckers really seem to like the some of the stuff in Cockatiel and Parrot food.

LOL, thats funny my parrot won't even eat those colored pellet type things.

Nice pic!

Melbourne, FL

Well, now you know who might!

Marlton, NJ

GG, Your very lucky! Those are beautiful areas where the Amish live I've been there several times. Are you near to Lancaster?

Actually GP I have put parrot mix out for the birds and they haven't touched it but I still have some of the other mix left so maybe I'll keep trying. This is an old mix that has striped sunflower seeds in it as well as the colorful pellets; we don't let our parrot eat sunflower seeds or peanuts anymore.

Hi Pelle,

I live in a beautiful little valley approximately 80 miles north of Lancaster. At times in the evening when I sit on the porch, I can easily imagine olden times, with the clop, clop of the horses on the pavement as the Amish go about their business.

Made me chuckle adel!! lol

GG, that is the kind of place I would love to live around!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL Adel. I love it when you personify those "guys." Cracks me up.

Cold and wet here today. Gives me a chance to try the camera in less than desirable conditions. I have to tell you, the continuous shooting is ADDICTIVE.

Here's a little finchy… getting more and more color every day!

Me too, Nanny.

Mrs. Ed, that little finch is really giving you the eye! Great pictures.

Rainy and cold here today, too, drat!

This is from yesterday. A robin who today, is probably regretting its decision to fly here.

There are several American Robins hanging around. Here's one taking a bath in a mud puddle.

Okay, so I'm messing around with exposures because the finches were too dark. So I take a burst of this Male Downy (did I tell you recently that I'm addicted to the continuous shooting?) and pretty much ALL of them were out of focus. LOL. Here's what I salvaged.
