Gloria just saw your post above mine--what a GORGEOUS house, I LOVE that second story porch, bet it catches the breeze really well. :)

Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - It's spring!
Hi and a big welcome CLemen and Jack. Hope you had a great Spring garden day.
Gloria, sounds like you deserve a perfect weekend after this past week. We are supposed to be cloudy and cooler (less than 70's) this weekend.
DH and I both like to read. We have no TV (well one channel) up at Maypop. There's always so much to do in our house. It's a certifiable dump redemption; reclaimed from the bank. Gardening is a good excuse not to be renovating. The DIY that does not end.
I like to read also...history, historical fiction, biography and fiction. My current read is Edward Rutherford, "London". Starts with the Angles and Saxons to current history. I like Gary Jennings too, "Aztec" and "The Journeyer" (about Marco Polo) for historical fiction. Annie Proulx, "Shipping News", "Broke Back Mountain", "Postcards" and "Accordian Crimes". Margaret Atwood, "The Handmaid's Tale", "Cat's Eye" and "Alias Grace". Anything by Tom Robbins and most of Kurt Vonnegut. There's more, but I've probably put you to sleep by now.
Yes - beautiful, Gloria. You are very lucky. What character!
Wow. Someone else who loves Tom Robbins and Margaret Atwood. There can't be too many of us...
Oh yes I've read Rutherford's and Jenning's books too...very entertaining... I very much like Margaret Atwood, too, although one or two of her books were too sad for me. :( I usually have several books going at once...right now in addition to the latest pulp science fiction I'm working through two books on raising chickens. DH recommended Salatin's books to me (= sustainable small farming), will probably start one of them soon.
Unfortunately, Victor, I must say that Dr Seuss is currently NOT one of my favorites, as I've been forced to read Green Eggs And Ham to my son over and over and overandoverandoverandover again.
I do not like green eggs and ham,
pam I am
Kids are tough enough - I could do without the chickens.
I'm mostly indulging in my fantasy life. :)

Hee hee.
My house has a lot of spammer damage since that photo was taken.
I still have hopes of salvaging it.
My dog Roscoe loves the 2nd floor balcony. He loves to look at the horizon and he can really see it from up there. Also, any intruders, such as the mail man.
Sofonisba, I turn 40 on November 20. It's very silly, because I'm really 25. (Unfortunately, I look like a 25 year old who had a VERY hard night.)
Gloria, what's spammer damage?
Yes, I thought they only did computer damage.
Pop up ads everywhere!
Maybe they damaged Gloria's windows??
OK Guys, so get this straight for me, this is a silly, silly, silly wonderfull forum? You can just post anything you want and joke right??? I need to get the hang of it..............Yes VG must be the gardenning fellon, and Donniebrook, Ayankeecat, sharran, oops do not forget marypo, can't we get real names here? It is geting too confusing for me. I know you all know each other BUT I DON"T YET!! HEHEHEHE!
Had a great day off today, did the front lawn, will have another day off tomorrow and will work on the back lawn and PERENNIALS and flower beds! YEaks. Love you all, Clemen
You're getting the hang of it, Clemen! Good luck tomorrow - the weather is not promising.
Gloria - what a lovely home you have! I, too, love that second story porch. I'd be out there with Roscoe!! Spammer damage????
Perhaps local hoodlums threw Potted Meat Product at that lovely balconey...
In the meantime, :P to Victor for the hideous pun.
Clemen - I'm "really" Louise.........and yes, this is a silly, fun forum where everyone is welcome and enjoyed. We have digression down to a science, and we just like to go with the flow......For instance.......look what I started doing when I had the flu and had to sit still.......this one is for my DSD's birthday next month..........this shot shows the 4 different sides. I had so much fun doing the first one, I've now done about 6 in all.
Phuggins......we share a November 20 birthday!!!!! I remember being 25....and 45.......and...
and Clemon....it's Sharon......anyway you spell it. Easy to remember.
Beautiful, Louise!
ahhhhhh....love it, Louise. Show us more
Happy birthday to us, Sharran (Sharon?)! :) I'm celebrating anniversaries of my 25th birthday. If I remember correctly from my childhood, my mom was 26 for YEARS.
Louise the pots are beautiful. I'm especially impressed you made them while you had the flu...when I get sick (a cold, a hangnail, whatever) I just lay on the couch and whine.
Thanks! I'm not very artistic, so I just copied various patterns I saw that looked like they'd be easy to do a "knock off" of. I love the Talavera Mexican pottery and so I copied some of the parts of the pots and pottery I have. Hope I don't get arrested! LOL
This was my first one. It's a large pot....
i'm amy.
phuggins, i read
Perhaps local hoodlums threw Potted Meat Product at that lovely balconey...
as
"...lovely baloney."
sigh.
must get away from computer. brain is deteriorating..!
Amy, it's the stage lights, they get you everytime!
Louise...did you put a sealer over the design?? It is great, btw.
but i won't be in focus till Saturday!
Pam - it was after the second week of the flu when I was up and around but got threatened with a hospital admission if I didn't get total rest. It seemed to take forever to get my chest to clear up and to get the fever to go away. I find it so hard to sit still, so this was what I did sitting on our front porch watching the world go by.......
This one was fun.....it is for a good friend who has a doggy daycare place. Note how out of proportion the butterfly is....As I said, it's just folk art whimsical fun stuff. It does take a lot of time and steps, but on this one I just threw a lot of animals onto it. She had mentioned she'd like a flower pot with paw prints on it, so this is what she got.........it really has only 3 sections; the Picasa collage added one side in twice......
Louisse or DonnieBrooj, Now that I know your name, Thank GOD!!! I was going to tell you that your colors looks like Mexican talavera, my favorite pottery!!!!!! if I can tell you , I have from huge to little pots to all wall animals to sea creatures. I am a true collector.!!! Loved your work, keep at it you can make a lot of money selling to me or send it for free! LOL Clemen
Terrific Louise!!
Gorgeous, Louise. Too nice to put dirt in!
V, Talvera pottery is so beatiful that anything you put in it llooks just gorgeous, so tell Louise to send you some free flower pots LOL Clemen
Louise - that is FANTASTIC! You are really talented.
i love the underwater cat..!
Victor, I was impressed with Louise!!
heehee
Victor, you are still sick.
Thanks!
Sharon - yes, after I finish the painting, I add a clear coat to seal it and then spray it with a spray that seals terra cotta pots. I first draw the design free-hand with a pencil (erasing a lot as I go), and then I paint everything, then outline everything and add the 2 types of sealers. The paints dry quickly, so it's not messy.
Clemen - thanks!! I think the Talavera people might get upset with me if I tried to sell my knock-offs. LOL It takes so much time to make one, I'd starve if I had to make a living from it. One pot took me close to 40 hours from start to finish. Of course, I'm slow.......here's the last of the big ones.........you are all very kind!! Try some yourselves......if I can do them, believe me, anyone can!!
Thanks, Victor, Deb and Amy!! You are all really very kind!
Clemen - We have a number of the Talavera pieces down here: the large owl, a sun face, a lizard, frog and a beautiful pot that my DH gave me for Valentine's Day this year. That's what got me started. I looked at it, and then looked at a plain terra cotta pot next to it and said, "hmmmmmmm, I think I could copy that!" Too bad I have no originality. My specialty is fish lips!! LOL
DonnieB, Oh My they look so real!!! I do not care if it took you 40 hours to make, Talavera people frorm Puebla Mexico, will never sue you, I promise not to telll them what you're doing!!!! LOL, By the way, I have bought several peices that look like Talavera, but guess what they COME FROM CHINA!!!!!!!Anyway, i know I am not supposed to buy them but they are soooooooo Cheap and since I have tons of planters and love plants that I end up buying them! Anyway, YOUR WORK IS GORGEOUS!!! CLEMEN
