Spring NE Roundup - Saturday June 28th
onewish is Allison, ...bbrookrd is Patti.
I can hardly wait!
Don's making two appearances!
oops.... thanks Celeste.... I will get it right one day!!!!!
Kassia, I just thought of this. . . could I bring something to share of the "good-eats" type, as well as something horticultural?
Kassia - This will be so much fun!!! I just can't wait to meet everyone and spend time together. We (my DH and I) will definitely bring something to share at lunch, and I will plan to bring some plants as well. When it gets closer, I will know more details about what type of food and specifics as to plants. Thank you so much for your generosity in having us all descend upon you! We will be coupling this adventure with another visit in the area, so I'll dmail you for directions once I know where we will be coming from.
Here's a photo I took this morning of my Kassia vine on my patio.....you can also see the onions I harvested today........they did well here this winter.
Great!!!! You guys come over!!!! bring whatever you guys want! food, plants, seeds... it's a party!!! Like my little Victor just asked me last night again "when is the birthday of the flowers?" so let's celebrate!
AH, yesterday I came home and started some clean up on the veggie garden... I blew some leaves and it was fun... even if I still have a patch of ice! I was so tempted to get the mantis out... but only the top 2 inches were not frozen so I need another week or 2!
so happy!!!!
Wheee! This is gonna be fun!
I've got icy soil too Kass, especially in the shady areas.
I am soooo excited to see you again Harper!!!! and hopefully the rose you gave me will be blooming her little heart out!!! I just checked and she has no die back!!!!
Yay!!
Got the date marked on the calendar, Kassia!
do you guys mind if my honeys mom comes along?
I don't mind :-)
it would be tough for me to make that trip alone.... long ride
Please bring anyone you want... it will be fun!
Of course you should bring her!
ok good.... i was worried
:)
she knows what a big help to me you all have been and how nice everyone is
Allison - I'd like to meet her too!
Allison:
I can't wait to meet her!
And hiya, there, my buddy Louise! Guess what? We're supposed to get snow again tonight.
S__W tonight again, Candyce!!??? Haven't you had enough???? By the way, be sure to check out the thread posted by Sarah who lives near us in Keene.....I think it's called "I just found this forum" or something like that. You will find your name cropping up there......tee hee. Good to see you are hanging around again, Candyce. I'll be inviting myself over soon! LOL
I'll take you up on that invitation to my house, Louise. I can't wait to get together again. You won't believe how much Little Miss "M" has changed.
She cracked Dana up at Agway today. She found a planter pot that just fit on her head! And she loved the garden gnomes with their "shoes"!!
Hey, can I come over too???? I 'll do anything to get out of school work!!!!
Hey, that Agway is our dog food and Pro-mix etc store in Keene. I will be going there for our annual spring truck fill up soon, no taxes, good prices and great people at that store. But I don't buy many plants there. Anything bulky gets a huge shipping markup when shipped to Nantucket, so we take the pickup off a few times a year when we can get the "Islander" steamship rate and fill it up with bags of dirt, dog food, toilet paper, detergent, tons of food for the pantry , firewood, and most of the stuff for the garden. It is like packing up a Conestoga wagon for the return trip. Gas just hit 4.00 here. We fill it before returning for sure. Patti
Can anyone afford to drive anymore with these gas prices?
Hey, I have nver been in Nantacket!!!! I am invinting myself over!!!!
Oh I agree Harper!!!! it's bad... sometimes I remember when I was able to fill my gas tank with $11.00!!!!
Me too! My '75 VW bug would run for 2 weeks on $7 worth of gas!
Kassia, you better wait until you meet me at your RU. Plus I am not so good at roses. Patti
oh Patti, don't worry... I love people that don't like roses too... I don't discriminate... I am pathetic about roses and I face that... but I understand if people don 't like them... they can be a pain if you worry too much!!!
OH, I love roses, just not so good at growing them. Patti
well, maybe between Deb (tamberlin) Laura and I we can help you!!!!
It would mean moving to Nantucket. I do well with rugosa rosa, but who doesn't? I have ordered a mess of climbers for this year and a few others. I better be a quick study or DH had better get busy learning to care for them. I don't kill them, but they don't thrive. I think I don't pamper them enough. Not a big sprayer. After seeing yours, I will be shamed into being a better parent. Patti
I drive into town once a week to do the grocery shopping. The way the gas prices are, I have to get at least three and a half weeks' worth of travel before I can afford to put gas in again. I have REALLY limited my travel lately!
Bring your honey's momma & your sugar daddy
OOoooo!
I might be able to make it.
I have a cousin getting married in June - but I don't know the date.
I'll call her. Hope it's not the 28th!
Nancy
Nancy! That would be awesome if you could come!!
Kassia, I will need directions from the Keene, NH area. I know ... Rte 12 to 140 to 2, but then I'll get lost!
The gas prices are freaking me out about the drive back up to NH!! Oh, Yikes! That'll cut into my gardening budget big-time!! Fla. is pretty high on gas.
Patti- We go to that Agway in Keene a lot too! If you go this summer, you'll have to let us know and the Keene Contingent may just meet you there!! We buy our Wellness dog food there.
Kassia - do you know anything about the "Carefree Wonder" rose??? My DSD gave me a gift certif. to White Flower Farms and I am thinking of getting this rose and a Pinky Winky hydrangea. The catalogue says the rose has no pest or weather issues....so even I may be able to do that!
Candyce - I am looking forward to seeing Little Miss M again......and you too, of course! I feel so "out of things" way down here.......but at least I'm back online! Kassia, you should definitely skip all your studying and come to meet us somewhere in the Keene area!!!!
Yes, Kassia!!
Oh you must!!!
Gregg would pick your mind about digging for a rose garden. He wants one very badly. (He's Anna's DH)
Whaaa, Nancy, I'd offer you a ride, but the car's full now. We're so close, we gotta meet before then anyway.
No problem, Harper.
I have cousins in Boston so I might make it a weekend trip & send the night with them - assuming they are not off one one of their spur-of-the-moment trips.
Nancy
