Be careful up there, we are doing ok here. Southeast of here got the worst of it with 12 inches of rain and now all the runoff is filling the rivers. They are getting the floods worse than us. Praying for all the victims.

greenthumb0_7-I just went and bought 20 pots, and had to buy more soil since mine is in the truck, which is in the shop! LOL And of course I had to buy a plant! I bought me a Trailing Plum Coleus, and 5 Orange Beauty Canna Rhizomes. :)

Hey Mama Joey (jojoringer)just left and we had a great visit. It is so much fun having someone to talk plants that love them as much as we do. She has two great children(one almost 2 and one 14) She didn't get any plants from me that you don't already have. My stuff is really slow waking up this year.
well i am glad to know that the plants are safe. lol. and you are right. i have dawnintx and she lives right down the road. it's so easy to explain the plants you just bought to these good people, isn't it? i don't have a husband now but i remember what it was like when i did. lol. but cindy your husband might be like janet's. just tells her how cute everything is. that's why i have high hopes of stealing him from her someday. but yours is closer so lmk. hahahahaha

yes, that is Gus, and yes that dawg works (dawg, heheh). He is my Assistance Dog, I have Multiple Sclerosis and he is my partner. Most days he works darn hard! I know he can dig holes I have filled in many of them, but not ever where I wanted them. He can however, pick up sticks in the yard after a storm and put them in a pile :smilin:. How about I trade my husband instead? Most days I would rather have the dawg, lol. Oh wait, Fred pays the bills, umm, I'm gonna have to think about that one. I hope you can find something on my trade page for the cannas when they come up, I would be thrilled to trade, it's more fun than just postage.

Well, I don't think I have a waiting list! :oP Wentii is still in the recovery room from his trip, but is getting lots of TLC! :) Hopefully all of them will grow like mad when they can go outside! :)

Don't believe all you hear, LOL!!! Plants for some reason don't like too big of pots, thats why journals always say to pot on in the next size larger, like 2 then 4 and so on and it's true. I have put small plants into big pots and they don't do as well. I think the plant spends its energy filling the pot with roots instead of top growth. It won't hurt them or anything tho. I don't remember if I sent any big plants or not (I have the attention span of a gerbil) If you go to a nursery and ask if you can salvage pots and trays from there trash they will probably let you, I've gotten lots of trays that way. If anyone needs any of the l;ittle 2x2x2 nursery pots I have a ton I'd gladly send to anyone who wants them, they're good to start seeds in. Misty I think they'd be too small for your plants but if you want some for seeds let me know.
Well, I am really excited to get them! But this person I know who got them from you I was on the phone with her when she opened her box and heard the excitement! LOL I will go buy some more of the little pots tomorrow cause it is cheaper than gas than to drive to the next town for where I might get some throw away pots. I think I gave 15 and 20 cents per pot, which I thought was pretty good. :) They had the cheaper ones for 9 cents, but they were the kind that cracked if you happen to bend them. I got square and round just to be different! LOL I found a bunch of little teeny tiny seed starting pots at Dollar General, so wouldn't need those. But thanks for offering! So if I go buy another 20 pots, will I be good? LOL You have my mouth watering and I haven't even seen the box! Σ§:o)

Misty I truly don't remember what all I sent. Get out those butter bowls and cottage cheese containers and poke holes in the bottom if you run out og pots,LOL!!!
You know, I NEVER use to save anything like that, but I sure do now! LOL I got tired of buying those little plastic trays to sit pots in, so now I even save the foam trays that meat comes in! :) I have been eyeballing for the mail carrier today hoping they come in. :)
All right mamajack I am wadin' in. I am a newbie to all this, and yes, I'm scared of you oldies out there, and very much touched by the dynamic folks that are here postin' in the garden. I am interested in making my collection of plants grow, and I am more than happy to, (with the help of some oldies) share my collection of house plants. Don't really know how I do it, but got about 40 plants I grow inside. All I got is dirt and love. I'm startin' veggies this year, i'll be more than happy to trade seeds next year if I get lucky! How do I begin?
msmissa, if i had time right now and IF i grew houseplants i would absolutely insist on a trade right now. lol if you have plants to trade though get on over to the plant trading forum, start yourself a thread and somebody is going to want you have. on seeds, just collect what you find. stick a plant name on the pack and just post that you have something to trade. it's o.k. to be scared but don't let it stop you from the wonders of plant and seed trading. ain't daves a great place? lol.

I have started to trade but so far only seeds. I wasn't to afraid to do that but, in the middle of April I have to send Bulbs for a Container garden swap and I'm a bit nervous about that one..I just hope I do everything ok. I'll be checking the box before I send it and then checking it again...
GreenThumb-07 if you want to send me a few tropicals I'll be sure to take good care of them...I love any type of plant..
I'm working on my seed collecting and plant collecting too-the more the merrier for me..

I'm starting to see a little space in the ghs but need to give away more yet. I must have a dozen veggie and tropical and hardy seed trays started and have about a dozen to go yet, I always plant too muchLOL!! Things are breaking dormancy and starting to poke thru and ghs plants are starting new growth. Got my peas and cabbage and whatnot in, distantkin helped out with a few early veggies since my first try washed away!! Can someone tell me how to send picts to dg? I need to put picts on my list and sometimes in dmail or threads, anybody willing to help out an old puter ignoramouse?
greenthumb, i would just go to some thread and find somebody that has posted a picture and just ask. go ahead. put 'em on the spot. i would tell you but i don't even own a digital camera. lol.

Just put the file name for the picture on your computer in the bar under the post box below - see where it says browse? Click on browse, find the picture on your computer, click on it and then send the message. You might want to preview first to be sure you put the right picture in. :-)

4paws - it is beautiful - I am trying sunflowers for the first time and planted some Mammoth - they are about 6 inches tall now. Can't wait to see what they look like.
I love sunflowers-they're so easy and grow so fast and big! Those got really tall, at least 7 feet, with one large head and several smaller heads each. They were red, orange, and yellow.
This is helenium moorheim beauty its first year in the ground, 2006. I have seeds for it, too, if anyone would like some, 3 packages. I don't konw how easy it is to start.
What am I thinking? This is the plant trading newbie thread. Oh well, offer still stands. :-)

4paws - I didn't know sunflowers could grow more than one head - gosh I have so much to learn lol The heleniun is very pretty also. I have enough room in the sunflower bed for 2 or 3 more - could I get a couple of seeds from you? I have limited sunny space, more light to full shade. I checked out your trade list but only saw the milkbush - I have two of those and just love it - its so unique. I have quite a few seeds but don't have them on my list yet - sorry by the time I finished putting them into a database I didn't feel like retyping them here LOL is there anything special you are looking for that maybe we could trade some seeds?
