Spooks and ghosts and weeping ladies...oh my!

Tell us about the UFO....

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Well yes, share that with us!!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

picture of stadium lights...? or lighted bridge?

(Zone 7a)

That pic was just for fun. It's kind of spooky-looking, I thought. It's fog over a plant nursery that we used to live behind. The lights in the background are a car dealership.

The UFO...

I was fifteenand summer and I couldn't sleep one night. Around 3:00am, I got up and was standing at my bedroom window, watching our beautiful mountains. We lived, at that time, on the foothills of them. I could see many stars and was enjoying a cool breeze throught the window. I was looking at the mountain that was about 10 miles from me.

One of the stars, over the mountain, got a little brighter and moved closer. I thought it was a helicopter. It kept getting closer and I watched until it was very close. Maybe 2-3 miles from me. It stopped moving and went back toward the mountain. When it got to it's original position, it shot straight up into the sky and disappeared.

In the morning, I told my mom what had happened. She was nice about it and said she believed me. We talked about again years later and she told me one of her co-workers had mentioned seeing something similar, if not the same one, that same night, in the same place. Mom told her AFTER what I had seen. I never did find out why she didn't mention it that night when she got home. Huh...

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Photos can be fun.
I set up a trail camera in the woods and have been taking some nice pictures of deer.
Deer are walking, flat out running, looking at the camera, it is fun.
Well, the other day, ( and I erased it like a dummy) I got a couple pictures. First one is very clear daytime shot with a blur on the right hand side. Tan, large very blurry, no legs. I thought, what the heck? I used the zoom and looked closer, you still couldn't tell what it was. Next picture (got the camera set for taking 2 pictures in a set) one second later, you see the hind end of a deer, just standing, in the same spot. Going back to the first picture, it appears that the blur very well could be a deer. You could see blurred markings like the deer's tail.

So what is the problem? (I thought of this the next day) How could the deer be running so fast that it is blurry in one shot, but standing in the next just about a foot further to the right?
How come all my other pictures of running deer are not blurry?
There is no way a second deer could have gotten that far across the picture without being seen in the first photo.
The only thing I could come up with is that something bumped the camera (it is hooked to the tree with bungee cords and can move) while it was taking the picture of the deer. (yet the background was not blurry)
Very strange. I wish now I would have saved the pictures.

(Zone 7a)

I wish you had, too! That would have been a fun thing to analyze.

I might have more pics.

Let's see all those pictures you can find.

That's really interesting, cpartschick. I wish you hadn't erased!

I want to hear more stories. I don't have any more but I can tell someone else's. 2 someone else's, for that matter, that don;t even know each other but used to live on the same street in my neighborhood. It brought it to my mind again with the post up there about someone seeing 'little black demons'. That's why I ask about them again. Well, that just creeps me out and here's why:

About 16, maybe 17 years ago, my mom's boss (who is a close family friend), drops some dishes off to me that belonged to a woman in the back of my neighborhood and asked me to deliver them. The woman wasn't home when she went by there and this friend didn't live close enough to want to drive out again so she left me her phone number and when I was able to reach her to let her know I was coming by, I did. It was a corner lot, nice place, but a 'For Sale' sign up. I'll never forget going over there and the scared look on her face when she answered the door. I asked her if she was okay and she just said there was a lot of bad things going on, thanked me for the dishes and quite literally shut the door in my face. I relayed all this to my friend that asked me to drop off the dishes and she said, 'Oh yeah....she's moving whether the house sells or not'. The story was that she and her children kept bing visited by these 'little black demons' and all kinds of weird unexplained things were happening at the house. Well, she moved, I chalked it up as lunacy and forgot all about it.

March forward several years. My daughter is in elementary and I used to walk in the school and wait in the lobby for her to come out. I came to know several other mothers that did the same and one day, we had a new woman coming in. She was as nice as could be. After several months, we were all talking about our days and the goings on etc. when she tells us that all kinds of creepy things are happening in her house. She lived on the same street as that other woman (but years apart and they didn't know each other). What jolted me was her saying that she was seeing these little black creatures at night. Oooh....got goosebumps now. She also told of taking a shower, the bathroom steaming up, getting out of the shower and the outline of someone pressed into the mirror. Where the steam was but someone sat against the mirror. Says her son saw the form of someone dressed in a top hat in his doorway int he middle of the night. Said some very old woman rang her doorbell in the middle of the night. When she opened the door, the woman said something in a native Indian language (she thinks) walked away, circled the tree in her yard and went on to the next 3 houses and did the same. Not far from her house is the school which backs up to a wooded area. She says her older son has seen white figures circling the trees there after dark.

Now....all of that just creeps me out. I'm not a scaredy cat most of the time but those two women and their tales scare the crud out of me. It's too close for comfort.

Now...regarding UFO's....I've never seen one myself (although I convinced my brother when we were little that a spaceship dropped him in the backyard), but recently there have been a lot of sightings in Texas. Just a few months ago, my little 9 year old niece told my sister in law, while they were driving to school, that she just saw a UFO. My SIL blew it off and went to work. She's a spokesperson for the local sheriff's dept. When she got to work, she was bombarded by news stations calling her to report that they were receiving lot's of calls from people from our town seeing unidentified objects. Weird, huh? Well, that evening she had my niece draw her a picture of what she saw and it wasn't anything she's ever seen (I haven't seen the picture).

Hammond, LA(Zone 8b)

sallyg, that book is amazing!

She also wrote Stiff "The Interesting Life of Human Cadavers" (I think), and a brand new one called "Bonk" which deals with sexuality. I haven't read Bonk, but Stiff and Spook are amazing! They are very enlightening and funny. I want to be freeze dried now! ; )

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Bonk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that will be hilarious! I'll have to get a fake cover on the book so I can keep it in the house (kids)
I read Stiff first, in about three days finished it, at my sister's. The following Xmas, she and I sent Spook to each other.
That would be m extent of our mind reading/prescient activities. Same book exchanged, another yr both got nightgowns for the other for XXmas, another yr kitchen items.
Who are these trusting people who open the door in the middle of the night??? Not me!

(Zone 7a)

Not me, either! No opening doors here! LOL Don't they watch the movies? ☺

I got really creeped out while reading your post, knolan. That one will be good for a couple of sleepless hours. Thanks!

My brother has reminded me that in the house where the UFO incident happened, we used to hear our names called when no one was home. Mom and I were convinced someone was buried in the crawlspace.

Going to stop now, I'm getting creeped out again.

Hi,
Oh Good Heavens, I am so glad i've opted not to read this thread at 3 in the morning!
Yes, yes please keep the stories coming.

The Dark creatures one has me, freaked out. That is just too weird.

Ceilia, OMG...i wonder why adult s chose not to beleive UFO sitings. I mean telling a story like yours and the little girl in Tx is just not something that can be made up. I dunno, but i was glad to hear your moms friend saw the exact same thing.

OK...So I have a very funny ghost story, But I got to search my documents as i have written about it before.

Hey Good to see you ladies, been awhile, Sally hope all is well with you, I see I've an article to read!

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Hey all...just wanted to tell you ...I heard on the news yesterday, that they are doing a piece on the Sci-Fi cable channel about the 'strange' things at WPAFB in Dayton, Ohio.
Darn...I don't remember for sure, but I think it was to be this coming Sunday?
There have been stories circulating around for years about Wright Patt....and strange phenomona going on there. I don't have cable here..so I won't get to see it. Just thought someone out there might be interested.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I'll see if I can find it and record it. My husband will get a kick out of he. He grew up in Dayton and graduated from Wright State.

(Zone 7a)

I'll look for it, too.

I don't like the "reality" shows about ghost hunters, though. I never see anything but screaming people and bouncing cameras. If something does move, it can be explained. Hearing funny noises that I can't hear because of the yelling doesn't help.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Hi Seedtosser- I think we could well use a funny ghost story here~~
(Meanwhile the drama is done with here-things are good)

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I like the show Ghost Hunters. The got some footage a couple weeks ago that showed a photograph on a table moving. Most Haunted, I watch because they go to very interesting places, so I enjoy the history.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I kinda like watching some of those shows too. I like the one that comes on A&E. Can't remember the name.

Yes, we need some funny stories.

What does a ghost bomb sound like?

BOOm!

Okay, okay...it's corny.

(Zone 7a)

LOL No, it was funny. I laughed anyway.

Who's got the funny ghost story? Why aren't you telling?

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Seedtosser has one but she has to find it. I'm anxious.

Meanwhile....I'm in the middle of night time gardening and taking a break to check in on my DG friends. I have my handy dandy headlamp on and I have some pentas, zinnias, a few salvias and one sweet olive to plant. It's already hot down here so I'm taking advantage of the cool evening. Been going non-stop since 6:00! Well, technically, I stopped to fix dinner but I didn't eat myself. I'm too dirty to sit on anything in the house but this wooden chair. I probably should've stopped a few hours ago but I'm already this filthy, might as well get the rest of it done before a good shower.

What's the difference between a female ghost and a male ghost?

BOObies.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

Tsk, tsk, grin........knolan, you are too bad.........LOL Can we see a picture of this marvie headlamp you're talking about? I can't take the heat anymore, so might be the answer to some of my problem.

(Zone 7a)

Oh, Knolan...BOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Ok, I think I solved the mystery of the trail camera.
I was looking at my log book and it mentioned that these pictures were extra washed out looking, like too bright. The pictures were taken right at sun rise and I remember wondering how they could be so bright, as this area is under heavy tree growth and over a ridge from the rising sun.

My theroy is that it was just bright enough not to trigger the flash, but the camera probably has automatic adjustment for light and used a slow shutter speed. This way a trotting deer would be a blur with trees being in focus and the second picture the deer stood still. If you don't like the logic and want spooky...
The only other explanation is that the deer is a time traveler or came from another universe through a worm hole or rip in time and the camera caught the deer coming into our time/universe.

Come to think of it, I don't think the camera has different shutter speeds. Better ck that out.

(Zone 7a)

Do do do do, do do do do...

It's cute!

Have loved this thread. Here are a few I have:

In my early 20's, my Nana was diagnosed with cancer and went down hill pretty fast after having radiation treatments. I lived in Richmond and had driven down home to Norfolk to visit my parents and I wanted to go see her at the hospice place because I knew I wouldn't get another chance. She was in a coma and my DM asked if I really wanted to see her like this. I said I have to. So I went down to the place and found her room and she was just laying there and of course I felt really weird going in there. I sat with her for a few mins and held her hand and finally just said the Lord's Prayer to her and then I got my courage up to say to her "Nana, it's ok to go now, Poppy is waiting for you". Well, I swear to God, she opened her eyes and looked at the end of the bed and smiled and nodded 'yes' then closed her eyes again. I looked at the foot of the bed and didn't see anything, but I know my Poppy was there waiting for her. So I knew I had to leave and get back on the road but I also knew I would never see her again. So I kissed and hugged her and told her she was the best Grandmother in the world and I would always love her and then I had to leave. I didn't tell my DM what had happened and went ahead and hit the road to come home. Well, we were in the middle of thunderstorms and I had to stop off to say bye to my boyfriend where he was working offduty (he was a cop). When I got there, the rain had stopped and sun was coming out and I gave him a hug and as I was hugging him, I saw a rainbow towards downtown (where my Nana was in the hospital) and I said oh look, a rainbow for Nana. Well, just then he gets a call he has to take back inside and when he comes back out, he tells me to hug him. So I do and he gently tells me that was my DM and she has called to tell me my Nana has passed away and to come back home. I know he expected me to freak out and lose it but I was really so at peace because of having seen her and then seen the rainbow. I knew that was her walkway up to Poppy.

A few years after this, I was driving down the highway between Richmond and Hampton - in the left of two lanes. No traffic, just putting along and for no reason at all, I put my signal on and moved over to the right lane. there was no one behind me, beside me or in front of me. Two mins later, I crest a hill and in the left hand land is a Cadilac coming up the wrong side of the highway - in the left lane I had been in. Of course, my first thought was oh s***! But, I had just seen the movie Always with Richard Dryfus and Holly Hunter and I totally believe that a loved one who has passed can sway your thoughts in a certain direction. I looked into the back seat and said "Thank you Nana & Poppy"! I know they were sitting back there watching over me and had told me to get over in the right lane!

Another weird episode: My sweet neice was killed in a car accident almost 8 yrs ago at the age of 19. Needless to say, we were all understandably devastated, not to mention what it did to my DSIL and DBIL and their DS. The accident happened in Oct and that Christmas morning was as can be imagined, very hard for them since she was missing. Well, they were sitting in the room, opeing all the gifts and when they were done, my SIL said 'I sure miss Heather; I hope she's ok' and right then, the lamp in the room next to them started blinking on and off. Well, that was all they needed to know that their DD was ok and she was letting them know she was fine.

Post script to this: please, please wear your seat belts and encourage ANYONE you see with out one to do so. Had Heather remembered to buckle hers for the 5 min drive home, she would be here today.

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Knolan - LOVE the BOObies joke!!!!!

(Zone 7a)

Hey, that's a great story! YES, buckle up! Your guardian angel might be busy elsewhere!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh those are wonderful stories! Thanks for sharing!

This could be chalked up to coincidence, but... My dad passed Dec.18, 2006. One of the things my stepmom gave me to bring home was his bible with a bookmark in it. The marker has the biblical phrase "I Thank My God Everytime I Remember You" on it.

We moved in January 2007 and things were very hectic for awhile for alot of reasons I won't go into. Anyhow, I kept sort of expecting some kind of sign from dad but...nothing.

Late last summer I was sitting here thinking about him and said outloud something like, 'Dad I really need a sign that you are okay and happy."

Just kind of sat there for a few and and then went upstairs and brought a box that I needed to go through down. I picked up a small stack of papers out of the box and as I did somethign fell to the floor. It was the bookmark! I sat there and just looked at it...I finally picked it up and took it upsatirs to put back in the bible. Got up there..the marker was in the bible! I then remembered my stepmom had sent me one just like it about a year before my dad died. But in my heart I felt dad had indeed given me the sign I needed.

He was a very simple man who did not like grandstanding or drama, so that was completely his style. Simple and to the point!

edited for spelling!

Nanny, I totally think it was a sign from your father!!!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

I have a story yay! And its another nioce Dad one.
I ran into --SAW--and old friend today and was catching up. She told me about her dad passing away a few months ago. She helped him wiht his horse barn, saw him almost everyday of her life til he died, she's about 50. She always works in the barn, puts extra clothes in a bag that she would toss on the old sofa in the room where she would clean up after. One day, her tossed bag has been folded where she left it. Top of that, there are two cough drops, from the jar across the room, laying right on the bag, lined right up end to end. She figures its his way to say they are still connected. The dog that love s the sofa refused to get on it that day. Sometime after that, she's working a goofy horse. Horse was being especiallly totally goofy that day, nuts. Her sister says, DAD, we like you to visit but you'll have to stay away from the ring! Within ten minutes the horse has totally calmed down.
She also had an amazing story from a friend who saw an appearance of a psychic, John Edwards.
she finds the Dad events very comforting.
And yes do wear seatbelts etc. I heard a horrible story about teens killed last week.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I just love all of these stories.

Here is the headlamp.

You all wanted a funny story. My brother once purchased a very old house in Ohio. It was a big 3 story beautiful old house, that had secret tunnels and stuff. He was spooked at odd things that would happen there.
When he was in the barn, he would hear footsteps on the stairs, but no one was there. He even rigged up string and bells to trip the varmit or whatever was making the noise, yet he would hear the footfalls and the bells kept silent. Lights would go off and on in the house. Pictures would fall off the walls, doors would open, etc.

Well, one day he was in the attic. There was a nice set of stair going up, but no rail around the opening to the stairs.
He was doing something, stepped backwards and tumbled down the steps into a heap at the bottom. He was unhurt, but groaning in bruises and stupidity.

His daughers were in another room and heard bumping. A picture fell off thier wall. They heard a moaning. They were really scared. They thought the ghost was stomping down the stairs.

It took a while but one got the courage to open the door and look.

She saw her dad at the bottom of the steps and said "oh, its just dad" and shut the door and went on with whatever teenagers do.

He let them live.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

That's a great story.

(Zone 7a)

ROTFLOL I'm sorry! That's funny! And just like a kid!!!

Nice headlamp. My DH has one I'm going to confiscate.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

At four she stood with her hands on her hips and tears in her eyes. The boy next door had just shoved her into a mud puddle and was riding away on his bicycle laughing. "I hope you fall and break a leg" she screamed at him before she ran home. Two hours later the boys mother knocks frantically on the door and asks the girls mother if she can take them to the hospital because she thinks her son broke his ankle when he fell from his bike.

When she was 7 she was upset about a neighbor yelling angrily and taunting her friend who was in tears. "I wish you'd get sick so you couldn't talk" she tells the tormentor. Three days later the tormentor was in an accident and had to use a voice recorder to talk for life.

Over the years she never believed she had caused any of these things to happen but time after time, when she was really angry, things she said seemed to just happen. When she was in her forties the neighbor would make sure she couldn't sleep during the day even though he knew she worked nights. One afternoon he was on a dirt bike riding past her bedroom window over and over. It was so loud that sleep was impossible for the third day in a row. Exhausted, she looked at her husband and said " I wish he'd crash that silly thing and break his fool neck" Then it got quiet and she managed to get to sleep. The next day it was quiet again. The third day she saw the guy's wife outside watering their horse. She told her that her husband was in the hospital with a broken collar bone and a fractured spine...

Since then I try real hard not to wish harm to anyone no matter how much they irk me... I know it was all coincidence but why take chances! LOL... anyone want to tick me off and put it to a test?

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

Very nice headlamp, thanks for the picture ;)
