Driving home from skiing today, we went by an old cornfield and there must have been 1000, not exaggerating, geese in the field. We have never seen so many in one place before. I didn't have my camera with me because I haven't put it back in my purse from downloading pics...

Today's Weather in Your Garden - 15
Victor that bird gave you the same look my one dog does when I go to take a photo of her
We had a slight dusting of snow yesterday. Slight - meaning less than an inch. There's about three inches forecast for tonight and into tomorrow morning.
Victor: those are fantastic photos of the chickadee and the cardinal. What camera do you use?
(I know you probably mentioned it somewhere on these threads, but ...).
On a more positive notes ...
Like Sherrie says the sap is running, which means that the daylight hours are holding their own above 32 degrees. THAT'S wonderful!!
And, I saw a flock of red-winged blackbirds at the feeder yesterday. Anna saw a TON of robins at the place where she works. Ah, Spring!!!!
Overcast very little breeze. Temp 36 degrees, waiting for the rain this pm into tomorrow.
43 and partly sunny. Thanks Candyce. Sony H1. Those shots were through the window.
I heard some Sandhill cranes fly over yesterday, the are one of our first birds back.
Temp 45.6°, Wind E 4.8 mph, Wchill 44.6°, cloudy ☺.
beautiful chickadee Victor. They are my favorite. They keep me company when I am weeding. They watch everything I do.
Thank you Anita. Wow - that's awful, Al.
Al, that is what I fear most about all this snow melting, the damage it will reveal. We still have alot of snow, but it's slowly melting and thats a good thing. We have several days next week that will hit 40 so we should see ground by next Friday. Of course...it's snowing right now!
An inch or so this AM. It was raining last night when I got home at 11. Changed to snow after midnight as predicted.
I'm thinking we're on track with you, Pixie. We have about a foot of snow, a little more in some places.
I warned the grandkids the Easter egg hunt might be in the house this year. But, we might just make it.
Nice bird shots.
Gloomy, and rainy, but no snow. 40 degrees. Pollyk, If there is still snow on the ground, you wouldn't have to dye the eggs to hide. Plus they would be nice and cold for making Easter egg salad. Patti
I hid eggs in the snow last year...it's not happening this year!
42 and cloudy here. had some rain overnight.
starting to clear up and get sunny here... my home thermometer says 50 degrees

Pouring now and even more gloomy and the wind is picking up a bit. Good day to order plants. Working on lilac list now. Patti
Temp 43.8°, Wind NNW 15.5 mph, Wchill 30.2°, mostly cloudy. ☺
Sun coming out now - 47 and very nice.
my temp says 56 but clouding up again
We have had a little bit of everything except sun. Rain snow, wind, rain again. Now just grey and overcast with a temp of 36 degrees.
46 here and generally nice. It was cloudy this morning but looks like spring. I saw my first red-winged blackbird on our way to walk this AM. The bluebirds have been checking out the nesting box, too and my daffodils are poking up a little more from the ground. The creek is running fast but at least it's receded from last weekend's storm. By the way, today is the Ides of March!
It's 45 here and when the sun comes out, it feels like spring. I did some raking and found some daffodils and tulips and helebores ready to pop. My friend and I went out on poop patrol at our local farms and found a fine aged pile about a mile away. Something to do tomorrow morning: digging and hauling manure. Ain't spring great?
Certainly is! How close are you to the Aerodrome??
I would hide the eggs (or not hide them), in the snow, Patti, but underneath is a pretty thick coating of ice, and I know Jenna would be in such a hurry she would take a tumble. But we still have a chance. Lots of areas to hide stuff in the house, anyway. Plastic eggs filled with candy. None of the real stuff here. Poor grandkids don't get much candy, so I can fill them up on Easter.
How goes your lilac list? I'd love to hear what you're ordering.
50 and very overcast now. Rain and snow in the overnight forecast. Yuck.
Yuck is right, Victor. Winter isn't done with us yet!
Daisygrrl, another forum I belong to highly recommends worm poop for plants. I found that Adam's in Po'k carries it. If you're doing large scale gardening outdoors, then this is probably not what you want since it isn't cheap. I'm planning on using it for the potted plants and veggies.
Polly, Still working on the lilac list, which may be easier than finding good spots to plant them in. I may need to clear more land. Patti
It was rainy this morning (snowing in Goshen where we babysat), then sort of cleared & temp was low 40's. I would like to start raking, but still too soggy.
ROBINDOG, my next door neighbors are a little anxious for spring and were raking under their pines and also raking the remaining snow from around their pool. It's still very mucky around us too, but I think they've got cabin fever. I learned my lesson when things heaved because I just couldn't wait, years ago.
Patti, I can recommend a few lilacs.
victorgardener, the aerodrome is right down the road. and Mamasita, thanks for the info on worm poop, but I need a pick up truck load!
Thanks Daisy. How cool. Please call me Victor and join in on all the threads!
Welcome Daisygrrl. Having another dark dreary overcast day. Chance of light showers or flurries. Light breeze. Temp 36 degrees and not supposed to get much higher. Yuck.
Boojum,
I'd like to hear you reccomendation for lilacs.
Thanks for the nice welcome, everyone. Victor, I notice you like cardinals. We always have a nice number of them in our yard, but this year, we have a bumper crop of these beautiful birds. I always see them in our old apple trees, but they've expanded their territory to a stand of spruces on the other side of the yard. Beautiful.
A question for the board: has anyone ever tried Milky Spore to fight Japanese Beetles? I grow roses and they have gotten completely out of control just the last 3 years. When would I apply it? Now?
39 and cloudy. Had some rain overnight. Daisy - Kassia and Jan (grampapa) are the rose fanatics on the forum. Dmail them and they will help you.
