pelle wanted me to start the new thread, and now looked like a good time. This is the 2nd Rufous to show up here.

Loved the hummingbird pics.
Not sure if this the right thread, but I've noticed this bird at the feeder and have been unable to identify it. Hope someone can help.
Has a long thin curving beak; black stripes alongside head; reddish orange breast and kinda light brown coloring overall.

JulieQ..............we are several hundred miles North of Capistrano. I think those are Cliff swallows and these are Tree Swallows.

I checked w/the Alaska Birds book and, sure enough, it's been overlooked. At our feeder we don't get much of a variety; chikadees, a little wren/like bird that I don't the name of either, and red-polls. Last March, a Pine grosebeak stopped by as well a couple of ptarmigan.
Certainly is nice seeing so many other types here.
