Shokami2, I agree - wish I could play, too, but I can't leave Steve at this time.
Remember to take pics, everyone . . . we can at least enjoy it vicariously!
DG garden
This is a Formal Gordon Alert: sun or shade????
Inquiring minds must know.
Katye,
What is that lovely plant in the picture that is green, umbrella like with white drooping flowers?
Polygonatum: Solomon's Seal.
This is one of my faves - it is stately, unpretentious, and low-maintenance.
It grows about 3' tall & this clump got 3 - 4' wide prior to being moved.
It is a morning sun lover, can take a forest floor type setting - not too dry, though.
This one was sited in only partial sun - about 10 - 1, at the drip line of a true fir & next to a Styrax japonica. Wish I could have left it there, but had to get a stump grinder in to remove the stump of an overgrown Spiraea. Now I get to spread the clumps about.
It is one plant that should be had.
Thanks Katye,
It is gorgeous and now added to my never ending have to haves....it went straight to the top!
Katye,
You need to add that picture to the plant files, it really does justice to the plant!
Sun, Kayte, sun!! Sorry! Been at work for awhile but sun would be good.
Katye - that is a stunner of a photo of a stunning plant!!! I planted one last year, and it is just waking up now - can hardly wait for it to get that size and elegance! May I second the wish that you add that to the plant file, it is a fab photo.
And I third the request for photos of the outing.
Warm thoughts to you all.
Thank you Katye!!I can't believe I have the day off and possible 70 degrees? No way!!I can't wait!! SO much stuff to plant, just not sure if I should plant much out there yet.WSeen the extended forecast and looks grim by next Friday, maybe snow again? What a crappy spring!!
I agree Gorton about spring, and I got Sat. off to, and much to do. That sounded funny LOL
Kayte, that is on my list to, just love it, and also a vote for the contest ^_^
It's looking good, Gordon. Can't wait to see it filled and blooming!
Wow - that's a doozie, Gordon! Nice work.
Gordon - how about Phlox 'David'? I have - you can have a chunk. That sounds weird...
Katye ~ Did I get my Phlox 'David' from you? I planted it yesterday along with another Phlox 'cantreadthename' in one of the potager boxes.
I'll take a chunk Kayte! That doesn't sound as weird as dropping a chunk off for someone!! lol
I'm getting excited for the swap next week. Lots of plants ready to go!
You know, Sheri - there's quite a few of those cultivars floating around....
Could have been me, but seriously, I do not remember. I have plenty, though.
dropping a chunk off for someone!!
Ohh, Katye, I think I need to go to bed now - I read 'gottacleanthemonitor' (as one word) and wondered is this Outta's sister.
Good night all - it has been a too long day.
Sweet dreams.
Thats to funny Laurie. nity nite.
Laurie ~ Sorry, not my sister. But I think she may be a third cousin twice removed on mother's brother's wife's uncle's side. = S
Outta, new tread check it out, I think you will like it.

Thank you for clearing that up for me -
You're very welcome, Laurie. You know how us Gypsy-types are. Hard to trace the family tree!
Got many plants today at the plant swap that will definitely fill the DG garden. Now if the #$%&*^%$$ snow will go away, I could actually get out there and plant something!!
Here is a new pic of the DG garden. Looks pretty full now huh? Every plant is a trade or swap plant. Just goes to show what you can do here on DG for very little. The kindnest of the members here just blows me away!! And I still have room for the plant I am getting from Dave. And if I haven't said yet , I sent Dave a camellia , that is his first plant at his new home. Them Texans love the camellia!! poor mamajack has had to beat people away from it trying to get it to Dave.
WOW! Looks great! I can't wait to see pictures when it all fills in...
Build bigger bed, Gordon. That way I can share more plants with you in the fall!
Looking Good, Gordon
Bring on the plants!! Going to have to build more beds. This is just one, many, many more to make!!
Yeah, Gordon. You're going to have to go condo. I still have not given you anything (because I don't have anything to give right now) and would like at some point to have a plant in there as well!
It's really exciting, Gordon - you're doing great. It's going to be fun for all of us to watch it fill in. I have plants to share, too, but life is too complicated right now to do anything about it.
I hope you and your DH is doing better! We are all pulling for you. I am going to do a Sept, plant swap here, and hopefully you can make that murmur.
And don't worry outta, there is going to be room for whatever! Are you going to heidi's? If you are I'll see you then.
I'll bring you something from my garden also NWG. I'm coming to Dragonfly too.
Patricia!!!!!! Yay!!!!! It'll be sooo good to meet you in person.
Thanks. My husband is going to come with me. And I will just be at Dragonfly.
Oh, and we'll get to meet your DH. Fantastic. Hope we have good weather . . .
