Western Regional DG RU -Food thread

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Sounds good Marie! Your taxi awaits!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Is Rodica coming now Marie. I am going fatter since I just came back from a feeding frenzy up in San Simeon and Pismo, so I may need a large table and chair for myself to fit in.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Hi Dawn, Yes Rodica is joining us!!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Yes, you said she wasn't going, how fun is that, is she staying w/ you at Weegys too?

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Yes we convinced her she needed to come too!!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Awesome so now I can meet her too.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

To all who posted on the RU thread and said they'll be joining us, please check in here and let us know what you'll be bringing to the RU. There's still quite a few that said they are coming but have not posted here to let us know what they can bring. I think we're fine on desserts, need a few other side dishes. It's only a week away, I hope everyone is getting excited like me!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I am, did I tell you my dd is coming w/ again? She is 6 mo. pregnant this time so we will have another person with us too, she can't bring anything with her yet though since she is temporarily encarcerated in Alysha's womb.

I asked DH if he wanted to go this year and he hasn't answered but he won't, especially if dd is going, he hates to listen to us gab. He is freaking out about me taking the truck, since gas is so high. Oh well he will be happy when he sees the nice roses growing in my empty planter in front of the house.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

I think that after serious consideration, Fiona and I will bring fruit. Work has been too crazy to predict when I will get home on Friday.
Hey gang, get this!! Fiona refused an invitation to the prom to hang out with us! She is an interesting child. I guess she loves us (and the horsies.) The piper will entertain as promised.
See you next week.
Janice

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Smart girl! Proms are highly overrated...boys are everywhere, not so with horses.....

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

weege, I haven't heard yet from Rosa and Gail as to what they're bringing.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

weege, I think I'll bring pasta salad also.......I'll throw something green in it....

Perris, CA(Zone 9a)

Loida and I will be bringing Pistachio Pudding (at least it is green...LOL).

Thanks,

Chuck

Oh, dear . . no pansit? I already am experiencing withdrawal symptoms . . guess I'm gonna have to get busy and make some myself.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Does that mean you will be bringing some pansit????

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

what in the world is pansit?

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

It's yummy, Dawn. :-)

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Sherry, Frogrus and Fiona are down for what they're bringing. Thank you very much guys.
Chuck, I think Harold mentioned bringing the Watergate Salad.

Please check the second post above to see the list of what's been added to the menu and to make sure I have everyone listed that's posted already and what you'll be bringing is correct.
There's still quite a few people that haven't posted here as to what they'll be bringing.

WCTypsy! ROFL! Did you do that on purpose because she's been tippling with the Irish Cream, Weege?

I don't see napkins - do you want me to bring those?

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I am bringing the napkins Kathleen.
What did I do on purpose???!!?!?!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Oops, missed that.

Wctypsy instead of Wcgypsy! As in, she's tipsy from boozing...get it?

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

K, see I saw that, but figured nobody else would notice....I'm absolutely positive that weege did that because of my new 'whiskey habits'. Did you know that Haagen Dazs makes an Irish Cream flavor? I'm not going to let myself try it. I won't try Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry's anyway , cause I might like it too much.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

OMG, I fixed that boo boo. No I didn't do that on purpose. Sherry, I am so sorry about that.

Valinda, CA(Zone 10a)

I am going to bring corn-on-the-cob.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Thanks George!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I thought it was hilarious, given Sherry's earlier messages.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Love corn-on-the-cob!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I thought it hilarious too......a freudian slip? Like the group I belonged to and while working on a newsletter at a member's house I used the restroom that the 2 young boys in the family also used (they'd sometimes forget to flush) and while trying to think of something nice to say about the house, I came out and said "I love your pedestal stink". There was absolutely no way to bactrack from that......

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Sherry, I am so sorry to have made that honest mistake!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Oh weege, it's funny...really, really no need to apologize!
To add further confusion to the food list....Gail wants to bring brownies and we're kinda heavy on dessert, so I'll just make a larger pasta salad.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

That's fine Sherry, brownies are always good.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

How many plates do you want me to bring for my contribution to that part?

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I'd say about maybe 100 big ones and 100 small ones. Always better with too much then not enough.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Ok! And Cabbage Rolls.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Love cabbage rolls .. . love food!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I hope my rice comes out good, I have a bad luck with rice, I need a rice cooker.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Given the ethno-centric theme of this event, and the fact that there will be an accomplished flutist (sp?) present, it seems fitting that at some point everyone should pay homage to the "Host Schleprechaun" with a fervent (and possibly sacreligious ) rendition of "Donny Boy".

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Groaaaannnn....

Vista, CA

Would it be okay to bring a corned beef? Just in case somebody would like a break from fish. I eat fish 4 or 5 times a week, but never get enough fish and chips.

If so, probably 3 or 4 lbs okay?

Bob & Carol
