Western Regional DG RU -Plant trades

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Time to go through your gardens and see what you have an abundance of or just plain want to get rid of and bring to the roundup at drdon's! There will tables set up in a shady area for those plants that need shade.

I'll start off with offering up this purple/blue iris that may be Sugar Blues but I'm not sure so I'm calling it "unnamed." I have plenty, about 5 clumps that I need to get up. I want to put named iris in their place.
It's a rebloomer and is very fragrant. I also have Voo Doo Lilies that I will be digging up if anyone wants some. LMK.

I will be able to bring some stuff this year but won't know what for a while. Louise I would love one of those beautiful lavender Irises, if you have one to spare.

Marie, I want cotton seeds from your cotton plants, just to see if I can grow them in pots and bring them in, in the winter.

Anyone have any propagated climbing roses going? I can never get mine to propagate. I need to make my own cloneing machine.

It is going to be a great one. Aren't you excited?

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Gotcha down Dawn. It may be a bit early to dig then but I'm going to do it anyway.
Yes I'm excited, always good times at Don's, always a good time when we gather a bunch of DG'ers. Campers and gardeners...the best people!
Sorry I don't have any propagated roses.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Thanks girl. I love camping too but not as much as people coming to see you with free plants. lol

Both involve drinking and laughing ha?

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

The common denominator! But not in all cases.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Not always. More often than not though.

I never drink anymore since my dh quit. I am looking forward to an ale or two with time to get over the buzz.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I have right now:

I will bring cotton seeds for you Dawn. Gypsy you are so lucky to be in zone 10!!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Yeah, it's not too bad, I have to keep reminding myself of that.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

How hot do you all get? What is the coldest?

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Thank you Marie.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Can't be sure anymore since we got up to 107 this summer and last year's freezes. We usually never get frost on our property, so that helps a lot. We would really love to be right on the coast though since we hate hot weather and the weather there is perfect for everything I grow.Oh well......

Sherry, I'd like to try the Salvia Anthony Parker, please.

Sherry,
I'd like some garlic chives and the geranium/nutmeg. I have citronella geranium if anyone wants some, take lots of it...it's a huge plant.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Okay, to both K and weege.....

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I still have everthing listed in my first post above and have added naked ladies bulbs. I will also have, ok I call them Bells of Ireland, the flower looks like little white bells and there's also a purple one that I need to thin. Plenty of purple irises to thin...I bet I'll have over 100 rhizomes when I dig and divide. Just let me know.

What kind of irises, Sherry? Not Douglas Irises by chance? I'm lusting for some of those or one of the other CA natives.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Kathleen, I have the irises! No not Douglas iris, just these purple/blue tall beardeds.

Oh, good grief! That's the second time I've done that! Thanks Weegy.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

That's ok, both Sherry's and my screen name start with W so I can understand! wcgypsy and weegy are pretty darned close.

OK, I'll use that excuse! lol

I have lots of Mimulus guttata growing and can try digging some up if anyone wants some. It spreads, but is easy to control - we're happy to have it everywhere. Beautiful yellow flowers. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/37920/

M. guttata - Dawn

Edited to add: I will add to this list when/if.

I do if you can. It would grow in my sprinkler areas that don't dry up.

Anyone want some Baccaris Pilularis? I have several that are going crazy from seed and they are low low maintanance and grow in all situation, swamp, drought, clay. I can see my babies have flowers and I can start some from seed as soon as they go to seed, they grow fast.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

OK Dawn. I will dig them a few days before the RU.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Thanks girl.
Sherry do you have seeds or seedlings from salvia Nemerosa? anyone have either of Nepeta(Walkers low) or penstemon linariodes, seeds or seedlings?

I am winter seeding this year in h20 bottles. (no lectures about going green, we have a arsenic problem out of control here right now and they are working on it but for now, it isn't worth the cancer risk). I hope to have a lot of stuff by the RU. I had nothing last year.

My Wooly Pletranthrus died and I am waiting to see if it comes back because it bloomed and grew into a monster until the first freeze. I am sad. My red Hot poker survived but never bloomed, and a few others too, but only lost a couple of things. I have a Leonotis that did good almost all winter and now, I am seeing if it comes back too.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Dawn, I do have nemerosa seedlings, but those are for the business side this year.....will have more stock built up to share next year.

weege, when you mentioned citronella geranium....is it p. citronellum? The big one (5' tall), same as Mabel Grey? If so I would dearly love some cuttings.......
Sherry

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Sherry, I don't know but will look it up, It gets pretty big and has little purple flowers and smells like citronella. It was given to me as citronella geranium. I have plenty so if anyone else wants some, let me know.
Sherry, will snap a picture of it later, taking mom to breakfast for her birthday today.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Happy Birthday Mom!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoy your breakfast AND your wonderful daughter.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

weege, if it gets that large, then it must be p. citronellum. I don't know if there are other lemon scenteds other than p. crispum. Don't bother with photo or looking it up...that must be what it is. Anway, I'd like some please....thank you.
BTW, I'll bring your plants up when I come up for the BBQ.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Sounds like a plan Sherry.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

weege, may I also have a rhizome of the 'maybe Sugar Blues'?
Sherry

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

You betcha Sherry!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

That is cool Sherry. Thanks anyhow.

Happy BD Weezy's Ma.

I just saw this...you guys are the bestest. I will have to show this thread to my mom, she'll really appreciate it. She turned 78 yesterday and although she has slowed down a bit, she's still a strong lady. She used to love to get into the garden with me and weed but the past year I've noticed she's really not able to do much of that anymore and she feels so guilty that she can't be out helping me. We did have a nice breakfast together with my aunt who will be 80 in January. I tell you, I come from very healthy stock!
Thank you all from my bottom of my heart.
Arlene, thank you for the sweet comment.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I missed that! Had to go back and see what I missed...a very Happy Birthday to your MoM, weege.
And Thank You again...
Sherry

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Happy Birthday to your mom, weege !
You're a lucky kid !

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yes, I am, thanks Mike.
