Daily Pics Vol 72

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Mrs. Ed, where I live my road makes a loop and it is a half mile. I walk it several times a day. I try to walk 3 miles a day. When It warms up I have a mile route I walk, plus the loop.

JulieQ, I have no idea what they are on! Just some shurbs that in front of one of my neighbor's house!

Saw a couple Chickadee's having a fight today, wish I would have got a photo! One knocked the other to the ground and it landed on it's back. The other one flew down and was on top of it! I thought "OMG, he is going to stab him with his beak!!!!!" Stayed on him for a couple seconds and then they flew off. Blew me away...

How about a White-breasted Nuthatch?

Rose, that Meadowlark is too funny! LOL

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Nanny...I know you could come up with a great caption for the Meadowlark...I'm not very creative that way!

Also...I had a Male Bluebird checking out the yard today and then later in the day I noticed the Female checking out the new nestbox. I sure hope they decide to stay!

Bella Vista, AR(Zone 6b)

Dellrose -- LOVE the cardinals! especially the female! They really are singing more, I noticed that here in Alabama, too.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thank you JulieQ! This is my first spring of birding and am enjoying all the singing and different behavior going on here!

This pair of Eastern Bluebirds were checking out one of the nestboxes. Also had a pair checking out a different box yesterday. I hope I get at least one pair of BB this year...they are so much fun to watch! I snapped these pics from about 100 feet away so not the greatest, but you get the idea! I'm just so happy to see them hope you can see this pic!!

LOL Nanny, now, that tune in stuck with me.
Lily, must be nice to be so close to the river, you must have quite a variety visiting.
Adel, take those peanuts away from them, It distracts them from watching Pelle.
Rose, I bet, your poor Meadowlark was probably upset at the wind for messing up his hair, the ladies won't be as impressed with him . ;))
GG Your little gold finch , must be thinking finally a sunny day, will be able to soak it all in. He must be sick of winter too.

Wow Rose, those BB pix look pretty good to me!! the bottom right looks ALMOST like a wing wave!

Central, KY(Zone 6b)

Cool Rose! Hope you all have lots of BB babies :-)
Where did you get your houses?

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Nice BB pics, Rose! Hope you get some babies too!

Adel, you crack me up with Jay shots and captions!! lol

Marilyn, too cute!

burn, just go with it and dance it out!! LOL

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Burn...I sure hope you get to see the sun soon! Everytime I see your pics I remind myself to not complain about the weather. I love seeing your Redpolls though, they are so beautiful!

Gosh Mrs. Ed...it does ALMOST look like a wing wave. I think the female snapped at him about something so he flew off into the tree! Sort of like me snapping at DH and him going to his shop! LOL! The female was also checking out some of the hay mulch I have on one of the flower beds. I hope she thinks it is suitable for nest building. Thank you Mrs. Ed.

Thanks Sadie! I got that cedar box at Wal-Mart but I have two others made from pine and more "traditional" looking that my neighbor gave me for Christmas. They have been checking out the pine ones and today is the first time I've seen them near this one. DH is going to put up another pine one in the field close to a mulberry tree so we will see how it goes. Surely they will like one of them!!!

I am just thrilled!!!! :0)

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks Nanny!!

BTW...that Meadowlark lands in the top of the same tree every morning and sings his little heart out....now I know what he is singing about!! LOL!

Congratulations Rose! I've only seen Bluebirds once here & that was when they were migrating. I was so excited even if they were here for only parts of 2 days.

Two new birds for me today. I saw a Red-backed Junco for the first time (no photo) & this Ringed Turtle-Dove. Been awhile since I've seen a new species.

Had fun with my Roadrunner friend too... got 4 photos of him
This one he hadn't seen me. He is up on the neighbors roof surveying his kingdom.

Thumbnail by angele

I said hi & he made a bee-line for me, lol

Thumbnail by angele

This is just after he jumped off the roof

This is the last one. I went in the house to get him a treat & when I came out I didn't see him.. he'll be back. I love it when he runs towards me.. just cracks me up :-)

Thanks Angele! I have never heard of a Red-backed Junco so anxiously await your pics! I've never seen a Ringed Turtle-Dove either and yours looks soo sweet! DH and I both love Doves!

We had a Red-winged Blackbird eating at the feeder yesterday...I never could get him to lift his head so all I got was his body and wing!! He must have been awfully hungry as he seemed to eat forever!! I get excited too when I see a bird for the first time!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

OMG angele...that Roadrunner is so cute and how great that he knows you and comes for treats!! How lucky you are...what do you feed him? Makes me LOL also!!
