Hi sally, just reminding you!
Dalfyre, that is a stunning frog! YOu will have to post it also in the FROGS IN A BASKET thread!
Well, the only way I have been doing ararangements underwater is when it rains. Right now the tide is in again at 1.5 inches and we have water everywhere!
I think I just need to add a flower to this vase!
Sally, your arrangements are stunning!
BB I don't know where you are but we must be in the same rainbelt as they are predicting 2 more inches here today as well. I think that my zinnia seeds are just drowning and that is their problem.
Nice to see your happy smile Sally!
Lovely floating arrangement.
Nice frog dalfyre, what flowers have you got for underwater?
HA, that's what I look like when it is 95 degrees and HUMIDITY! I took that as a test pic. before my hubby got home. It was our anniversary. I can't take pics inside where it is COOOOL because I close my eyes with the flash. It's hard being me! :)
Dalfrye, thats reallly neato! Dont forget to post your frog also to the Flower arrangers tool box! Now thats two more threads for you to show in!!
Sally, thats why I never try to take my pic or get it done! I look like my ugly shot on the drivers license! LOL! So thats why I keep doing the WILSON thing going incogneato! Happy Ann. BTW! Congrats. My hub and are going on 20 years this month ! I would send you some rain, but dog gone, the wind just dont blow that way from here, but you have our blessings from the bottom of our hearts!
Haighr, Illinois. Yep, you and are are in the same wind tunnel. Looks to be clear for a day or so... but I am sure more rain is coming.
Well. gotta get to my next project. One day I will try my hand on these.. Just too much going on and just enjoy peeking in here!
Keep up the great workls! They are all awesome!
Dalfyre, how pretty! Great job. I think water and glass are so sparkley and pretty!
I can't believe you have TWO bird vases like the one I got from my Grandmother when she passed away.
Where are your vases made? How old are they? I cannot read the bottom of mine. I am curious about mine.
Here is mine. I love it so much!
Sally - I never realised the birds were vases!
I can't make out the markings on the bottom either.
Mine have Made in ? a number 8 in a reddish ink & numbers stamped into the base.
They belonged to my Husband's Grandmother who passed away 2 years ago aged 100.
I suspect they date from the 1940's or thereabouts as much of her china & such is of that vintage.
If you have one all the way over there they must have had a fairly big production run so should be info somewhere online.
New project for me :)
I hope we can find out more! Glad I could tell you that they are vases! ha. I really love the way they look, the soft glaze. My g. mother passed away three years ago at age 93. Nana.
Nice to meet you face to face Sally. And lovely roses in the bowl. Dalfyre you made a great one for your first time at this. Really like the grasses coming out the top. Very nice bird vases you have both got there as well.
Thanks, I just wish we could learn more about them. SO hard to read, red ink. I even used a good magnifying glass. Doesn't make sense.
the grasses coming out of the arrangement are cabbage tree fronds - cordyline australis.
It is one I had cut down a few years back but it is re-sprouting.
I need to cut it back & poison it.
I actually like cabbage tree but the fronds are incredibly fibrous & ruin motor mowers very quickly of you run over them.
So they are very unpopular in the suburbs...
my neighbour offered to come over & cut it down for me.
He was only half joking when he said if I hadn't brought the garden guys in to take it out he would have hopped over the fence in the middle of the night to cut it down.
I have two other cordylines in pots, they are a lovely red/bronze colour, C. australis 'Red Fountain'
they don't shed like the green ones do and are very popular in landscaping here & in Aussie.
They must be mighty nasty if they ruin a mower blade, wow.
Hey Dianne, could you start a new thread for the underwaters, this one is getting a bit slow even for cable service.
Nice arrangement dalfyre and lovely vases!
Sally!! I think Candee would like you to start a new thread.... Blonde!!!!

Sally - I think our bird vases are Made in Slovakia...
I found one on e-bay, different colour bird but the same style.
There were other similar ones from Slovakia or Czechoslovakia...

WOW! Thanks! I do believe that is the same stamp! The vase is almost the same, diff. colors, you are right. I appreciate your help, it was bothering me!
Oh, your next job is to find the year it was made! ;0)
