Underwater arrangements

South, TX

They have a Parrotlet? Or another Parrot? Boy Parrotlets do talk. Lots of Parrots do. I have seen You Tube videos with great stuff from them. Especially Grey Parrots.

The Tile cleaner is Bissell I think. It looks like a thin carpet cleaner. Does a great job. I hate mops. I have a thing about clean floors, LOVE 'em.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I'll have to check out that Bissell.
I am guessing from what I have learned from you Sally that he is a boy parrot, cause he does talk a lot. He is quite old as well and has a vast vocabulary. I haven't checked out U Tube, will do that one day when I get spare time.

South, TX

Lots of other parrots talk whether they are boys or girls. I KNOW, this is nutty! ha. Parrotlets seem to be a bit different. Tiny too!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Oh gotcha now. What you have is a smaller parrot? Okay, now I get it! Another blond moment LOL!

South, TX

five inches long at most!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Here are our parrots, they don't say much at all LOL!

I talked to Diann today (my co-worker with the parrot) - Hers is a blue-fronted Amazon - sexed female and talks up a storm.

Well, your parrots are great, a bit on the flat side, ha. That is a beautiful area you have arranged. Is the cage empty?

I bet that amazon DOES talk a lot, great!

Hi sally!
I'm working on an underwater arrangement! Hope you are on the mend and everything is ok.

pretty parrots!

South, TX

I can't wait to see! I have a pretty yellow rose in a flower aquarium, that is all right now. I better get busy!

I am doing well.

london England, United Kingdom

I have yellow lilies! have you tried lilies underwater? I haven't.

This thread is getting very long, it's time for a new one Sally!

See you later with the underwater yellows.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

There is one in the cage Terri and he wears a bell.

Can't wait to see yours Terri, you always keep us in suspense!

Candee, is that a REAL parrot in the cage? or it is one of the gang there? never can tell with your Arty talents!!

I'm afraid I'll have to keep you in suspense until tomorrow, my underwater ingredients are not ready yet.
I'm waiting for my yellow waterballs to swell.!!!!!!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Yellow waterballs? I believe I saw you use them once before? I never did find them anywhere - can't wait to see what you have designed.

No he is not real, but is made of metal and is welded onto a perch and does swing in the breeze and the bell makes a faint jingle when he is getting his exercise! I do come up with some interesting stuff don't I? Guess you can tell how my mind goes to those strange ideas, but they work for us! When I am not coming up with some "wacky idea" then Steve is, what a pair.

Super neat cage and parrot!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Thanks, got the cage at the antique mall and found the parrot in one of those catalogs with everying from soup to nuts!

South, TX

It is a cool cage for sure, as long as the parrot is not alive. Cages sure have changed! My little parrot has a mansion, but she also gets to fly and play with her playgyms near me. Sad when birds are in small cages and do not get out.

Your parrot is so cute.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Thanks sally, I agree, I sure wouldn't want to be cooped up. LOL, I used to have cockatiels. They loved the perch they had in the living room. I kept them clipped so they would not fly way far away. Their names were Teal and Jasmine. I took them outside one day, they loved sitting on my shoulders. I went way down back away from any place I though they might skip off to. We were enjoying the sunshine and then suddenly Jasmine took off, soared about 2 ft. off the ground and then up, up and away all the way from the back of the property to the front, across the road, out across the field and way out into the tree line and I was just sitting there stunned. Well I was about devastated, so Tasha and Steve took off over into the woods with one of the perches high on a pole and started calling for her. Steve was all bitten up with bites upon their return empty handed. A bit later Tasha went out and with the binoculars she spotted her up in a tree out in the woods. Steve went back over and I along and he had to climb (with his back out of wack) part way up the tree and we coaxed and coaxed and Jasmine finally got back on the perch and we took her home safe and sound.
I had a friend at the time who adored those birds, so I immediately called her and told her to come over and at that point realizing I was not a fit person to care for them I graciously gave the entire setup of cockatiel land to her with my blessings! That was many years ago and haven't heard there whereabouts in a while as I don't see her anymore since changing jobs 13 years ago.

You were NOT a bad person at all! This does happen and you didn't mean it. Even clipped birds can fly, be carrried by a gust of wind, fly from fear, etc. Chipper has a little play cage for outdoors. That is the only safe thing you can do.

I love parrot forums, you can really learn a lot and help others. Please do not blame yourself, you didn't mean for that to happen. This really happens to people a lot.

I am SO happy that you got her back. I am sure the birds are well.

london England, United Kingdom

I would love to make an arrangement with that cage Candee!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Oh Sally, I had no idea others had similar experiences. Steve and I laugh about it to this day, cause I recall when I was headed out the door with them he thought it a not so good idea!!!

Terri, I would love to see what you would do with that cage, I can't imagine what you would do with it? Now you have made me stop and think again!!!

london England, United Kingdom

I don't know exactly what to do with the cage, but it would be fun to experiment!

Here's my yellow lilies, in a blue vase, which makes them look green.

Thanks sally! I didn't like it very much LoL! The lily petals fell apart as soon as they went underwater.
Oh well, it's all part of the learning experience.
Looking forward to seeing your next one.

I like the lantern thebest Terri, nice job!

london England, United Kingdom

Hi Sally, How are you? Hope the hurricanes don't go your way. Stay safe.
Haven't made anything for a while, how about you?

South, TX

Well, Ike WAS going to the North of the Gulf, now it doesn't look as positive for us in the southern area of TX. Spooky. We are watching carefully. I just got home from my African Violet club meeting. They were talking about it.

I am fine. I can't wait for fall so I can enjoy my outdoor gardening more. SO hot. The flowers and plants all look good, but I really can't enjoy working out there.

I just keep putting roses into my flower aquariums. I need to do something new. They stay that way for WEEKS, SO NICE!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Sally, hope you folks can dodge this one although looks like it is headed in your area of south Texas. Guess more will be know about the path tomorrow. Are you near the coast?
Fall gardening sounds splendid, fall gardening here is yanking up bulbs and winterizing a lot of things and bringing in all the tropicals, not so much fun as work, work, work.
Your aquarium roses - well if they last keep them going as they are lovely.

Hi Sally, good to hear from you. Hope you will be ok and Ike doesn't come near you.
Did you make an arrangement for the AV club?
I don't have any roses blooming!! would be nice to see yours again. I have a glass vase which has a piece of wood stuck inside it, might try something with that underwater next.

Candee, It's off to work work work we go!!!!

london England, United Kingdom

Hi there elle, good luck with the festival, looking forward to seeing what you've made.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I just happened to bring a piece of driftwood back from the cabin this weekend that may work well in a small something.

london England, United Kingdom

well fancy that! Last year I made an arrangement with a piece of wood, and still can't get the wood out the vase, so underwater it goes!!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

LOL, stuck in the vase, that sounds like something I would wind up with!

South, TX

Terri, my roses are not the big tea roses. I USED to grow MANY of them in CAL. But here in the humidity, they are not fun to grow at all.

I have Knock Out and Butterfly roses though.

I BUY pretty roses for my flower aquariums.

Here is one of them.
