Too cute Rose, I am definitely not the alpha bird in this neighborhood, lol. I'm gonna have to get me some of those mealworms!
Janet I think those Blue Tits are the cutest things ever! My little Verdin would have a run for his money against those cuties
I've discovered a little secret that helps my "Bird Food Bill".
At about 5:20 pm, just after the sun goes down, and my back yard is shaded and cold, the thousands of sparrows go to roost, and leave my yard.
At that time, about Eight couples of Cardinals come back to my yard for feed.
If I wait until the Sparrows leave, and then go out and put bird seed out, the Cardinals don't have to compete, and can eat in peace.
The same is true in the early morning, before the Sun comes up.
The Cardinals are the first on the scene, so I'm sure to put some up at night for them the next morning.
Here is a wide picture taken from my back door.
They're hard to see, but there is about Eight birds in this pic.
Early Saturday morning, I counted Eight males, and about Six females.
There are also feeders to the left and right of the picture.
Those are beautiful 'through the window" photos Gary, you'd never know it!
Pford that is a lot of Cardinals & a good tip. I've noticed the birds seem to have certain times if the day they like to come around too.

Very nice pics GP!
Gary...great window shot of the Chickadee!
GP...I love your pics...they remind me of warmer days to come. I just learned that we sometimes have the Painted Buntings in our area so I will be watching this spring.
pford...I noticed that all the ground feeders feed early in the morning and late at night.
Here is a collage of a Carolina Wren taking a bath in the heated water bowl!
Very cute dellrose!
Thanks Pelle, it was a real treat watching the bathing and preening!
