yup, alot of garbage companies willl not take landscape waste, if they won't take it you'll probably have to burn it.
I had decent luck with it, it was at my old house and it was in a certain design and I had planted it on a side that got alot of shade so some of the flowers didn't come up.
The problem I had with it is I thought being it was on a mat I thought it would block out weeds, but it was almost like they were seeded alonng side the flowers cause after one good rain you couldn't see what was flowers and what was weeds but if I had a chance I would definatly try it again!
Need advice on planting a hillside
shakey11,
Good thought, but they take everything regardless of what's in the trash. This guy was just being a jerk. They use one of those trucks with the grabber things that come out and pick up the trash container, dumps it up into the truck, and then puts the trash can back down. To do what he did, he had to get out of his truck and walk around it, throw out the weed, get back in the truck, and then operate his little trash can grabbers. There is only a driver on these trucks.
My daughter could have carried it to the back of our property, about 600 feet, but she pulled it out up by the road so that's why it's in the trash can. The toad is going to pick up the weed next week whether he likes it or not. When my daughter saw what he had done, she was not amused. I was, hee, hee.
I wish they had separate landscape waste pick up like they do where I used to live. There they recycle that waste by composting it, and anyone can go down and get compost for free.
They don't have recycle pick up here, so hardly anyone does it. It's a shame. We take 80 percent of our trash to the recycle bins.
Thanks for the input on the flower mats. I had heard from others that weeds coming up in the mats was a problem. I've not tried them as they are a little costly.
Take care,
Karen
