DAILY PICS VOL. 61
Wonderful pics wallaby!
gee, I was gone all day and you all have out done yourselves!!
Resin and Pella. I am going to try and get a better close up of the female cardinal when the sun is out. Maybe we can tell better then. BEV Can anyone tell me what these birds are? They are not in my bird books. I have never seen them before. Thanks BEV
The first and third are of the male. The second is th female but got her back to me.
angele, It's a combination of different seeds like milo, millet, sunflower, nijer, suet and molasses. It obviously attracts many different species of birds. We've had Mourning Doves, California Quail, Magpie, Flickers, Starlings, Juncos, Blackbirds, Redwinged Blackbirds, Sparrows of all kinds and now ducks eat off the blocks. We have one sparrow that I've been trying to get a pic of that's buff in color. Will keep trying till I get it and will post it when I do.
Susan
dragonfly62, The first one is a male Redwinged Blackbird. The other two are females, but the third could be a very young male. I see no red shoulder patch at all though.
trois
Thanks for the info Susan, I think you are going to be eaten out of house and home with the ducks joining in :-) but then I can't believe how much seed I am going through.
Looking at everyone's photos has made my day. I'm guessing at least 75% are birds I don't see around my home. Beautiful; every one of them.
Boojum--
Yes, thanks for going the extra mile to get the photos of the owl. They are awesome. What a lovely bird.
Wow, that is a great shot with those pecans Jane. I'm just a little north of you in Elephant Butte and the wind kept me indoors most of the day. It was a very cold wind too!
Thanks angele! It has been windy here for the past week. We even had a few snow flurries here this afternoon.
Just curious, have you seen any eagles aroung the lake this year? I went to Caballo the first week inDecember; but didn't see much of anything there.
Wow! Never saw a yellow here.
Glad you liked the owl pics. I always take a glance there when I drive by. My Kaufman says, " Mostly nocturnal, sometimes active on cloudy days." Bingo!
I have just seen one Eagle flying near my home & he was soaring way up high. I could only tell it was an eagle after I looked at the picture I took. I can't see the lake from my home so I don't know if there are any over there. That's a great yellow finch! I've never seen one either. Congratulations on the wonderful photo too!
another wow photo Trois! beautifully illustrates the wing.
Troupial.... Icterus icterus
Thanks Ned & Burn.
I have a hard enough time identifying the North American birds. After Ned identified the troupial, I was able to find it in the World Bird Guide. It lists it as Venezuelan.
The zoo in El Paso has a nice enclosure avarian with a pond, rock cliffs and lots of trees. They have some beautiful birds that are free to just fly around where they want. The troupial was one of them. Here's another bird that I found pretty neat looking. I was able to identify this one as an Inca Tern, which is also from South America.
Thanks, Angele.
Wow so many great pics!
Wonderful pic trois!
Holy Mackerel I just noticed we're already up to 152 replies!!!
