I know..I shouldn't complain. I'll take the snow over those terrible storms! My thought have been w/those people all morning.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 11
Speaking of those storms....has anyone heard from Nancy, Gloria, and Sharran? Arent they in the path pf them?? I hope they are all OK!
Sharon is in KY and Gloria is in AL. I haven't heard from either of them. I'm not sure about Nancy.
I ask because it hit more than just one or two States. This is what I just read:
"Twenty-four people were killed in Tennesee, 13 killed in Arkansas, seven killed in Kentucky and four killed in Alabama, emergency officials said. Among the victims were Arkansas parents who died with their 11-year-old daughter in Atkins, about 60 miles northwest of Little Rock."
I hope all our DG members are OK, and G.B. those who were in the storms path.
what the heck is that a picture of, Victor?
Last year, on Groundhog Day, a tornado went through the Villages in FL where our winter house is---It touched down about 2 miles from us, did horrendous damage to some of the newer villages, & wiped out several trailer parks, killing several children. I shudder when I hear of them--we had a hoax here last summer during a very bad storm--we were babysitting about 40min. from our house, watching TV & reports came in of a tornado doing substantial damage in our neighborhood--they even showed a pic of the tornado--only thing was, someone had sent a photo of a tornado from a file, said they were with the police, & all our local TV stations broadcast it--we went flying down the highway, thinking our house & dogs were gone, & it was a hoax--they never caught the person responsible.
Scary stuff!
Mushroom, Amy.
Hurricanes always set of a pack of tornados in FL, oftentimes miles from the hurricane eye. Every now and then you see the storm tracking vans out there, with all the equipt on their vans. I could'nt help but look up at the sky whenever I saw one... even if it was sunny. ☺
ROBINDOG - I had to chuckle at your mention of the Pink Shell cottages. We always stayed there for a week in the summer when I was young (even though we only lived about 20 minutes away). It was the tradition when I graduated from high school to stay there with a group of your friends. That was a good time. I hate that they got rid of the old cottages. .....The Spoonbills are also my favorites at Ding Darling. I selected a license plate here that has a Roseate Spoonbill on it......love it! And the funds from it go to support the Everglades. For me it was a win/win. My DH got the golfer tag with the funds going to the First Tee, I think.
watercan - i love those branches! what a beautiful pattern. i doesn't even need darkening - the contrast is fabulous. this is for a class in projections, and i think that would project very well.
anita - that leaf has such lovely variation in color. it is really lovely.
Great Amy, very happy I was able to help! ☺
Temp 44.4°, humidity 77%
WC - your temperature is nicer than mine. Now it's 36 and there are raindrops on the window pane. Birds are chirping as though spring had arrived.
Still snowing and blowing. The birds are hiding.
Temperature has nose dived.
-10C
12F
We had a small front w/high winds pass by here last nite, it brought us to where you are now @ 36. Those birds better keep their mittens handy for Sunday when we’re supposed to drop again. ☺
33 and overcast. Stopped raining just a while ago.
Sunshine, 37, beautiful blue skies with a few clouds scattered and the birds chirp on.
Wet snow. Delay at the school I work at. Just shoveled the car off and off I go. 33 degrees.
Pirl - I need to figure out what planet you live on so I can move there ;) I don't recall you talking about how hot is is there in the summer either.
Sort of a quiet day here - 15 and cloudy. We got maybe and inch of snow while 40 miles south of here got a foot - so that makes me feel good.
Thunder storm late last night with a burst of rain more like July than Feb. Didn't last long and dropped the temp ten degrees. Overcast with occasional light rain and a steady light breeze, 34 degrees.
That's the beauty of the east LI coast - the ocean is a nice moderator. I do remember Pirl reporting some high temps though.
Nothing like Texas, Florida, California!
Our high temperatures are sometimes in the high 80's, seldom in the 90's but working outside in the sun can make it feel much hotter. We do have our share of humid days.
It is snowing here now. Temp has dropped to 30 degrees, darn we just got rid of most of the white stuff. I think they said a coating to an inch only though.
Hi everyone. I'm new here and checking in from the Mid-Hudson area. Currently in the upper 30s with sunshine. Wish it was 75 degrees!
Hi mamasita! Welcome aboard.

Was hearing some of the snow totals so far this year from the upper MW and it's incredible. Chicago already has the most in 30 years and it's only early Feb! Celeste, how common are days above 90 degrees for you? (I'm sure you'd take one right now!)
Welcome Mamasita from here too! Ah 75 degrees, I remember that, seems so long ago and far far away.
50 and a bit breezy here on the Island Mamasita, Welcome! ☺
Welcome Mamasita!! You'll like it here :))
Still snowing and still 12F.
Hi Mamasita!
Rain last night, changed to wet snow, snowing lightly now, 38 degrees F. Street outside is slushy, but trees very pretty in their winter dresses.
oh, and did I mention the foot and a half of new snow??
(looking for sympathy)
3 G's.....you have MY sympathy!!!!!! I only got 7" this time but we are in for a big storm Sat. into Sunday.
Victor, I would guess about 10 days of 90 and or above.
Welcome to mamasita!
Pixie - normally I wouldn't make corrections but you failed to note any snow for tomorrow night. Anything wrong?
No, nothing wrong Pirl, the GL decided to give me a break I guess. I need at least a few hours to get supplies for the one coming in this weekend. Whipping winds, loss of power, lots of snow with drifting. He know's I don't like driving in the snow! LOL
I applaud you and threegardeners for your excellent attitudes.
Thanks for the welcome everyone! Has anyone heard whether or not January was one of the warmest we've had - at least in NY?
