Great snowflakes!
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 11
Beautiful Snow Flakes!!
Those are really nice Debi and WC. Make mine look snow.
Love that one, Al.
Still going for those sheep,Al?!
The snowflakes were courtesy of RIT students.
So many sheep jokes but so little time.
Thanks for giving credit to the students, Debi. They deserve it.
I only believe in the hallucinatory sheep in Al's mind. Real sheep don't count!
But they get counted.
I better not let my girls near Al or they will try to herd his brain. Another glorious day for working outside. It will be in the 40's until Thur. I could get use to this. Here are the gals herding balls at the beach on Sat. We are taking them again today after we get an old fence taken down (I won't count it}. Patti

Patti - tomorrow will be close to 60 degrees!!!
Today has deteriorated to overcast and no sun. I will put off the outside work until it gets better, but no snow storm or ice or nor'easter and it is Feb. I shouldn't complain. Making plans to go to Fl for a little BBall at the end of the month. We will get to do some birding. But the poor dogs can't come, but we have a great dog sitter who treats them as the princesses that they are, usually.

Have you been to Corkscrew, Patti? Two yrs ago we were there & saw a painted bunting--male--on a feeder they had set up for him--great looks without even using binocs. Last yr did not get there, but to a smaller Audubon area near Ft. Myers--also hit the Everglades--saw many birds, but no lifelisters. 35 today with flurries, not a day to walk. Lucky you have a dog sitter--no one wants to sit for the airedale--my neighbor used to, but he died in July--we really miss him.
It's dark. We had a few flurries earlier, but they gave up easy. Now it is really dark, and i am hoping any precipitation will hold off till i'm done with this load of laundry...
Outdoor washing machine?
Down the stairs, out the door, around the (long) building, and down more stairs into the basement.
this is what they meant when i asked (before we moved here), "Is there laundry IN THE BUILDING?" and they said yes.
The laundromat in Astoria was only a little farther...
Should I ask about the bathroom?
: P
Brr. Just back from the laundry room and is is pelting down something. Tiny ice pellets - i think of sleet as wetter, and snow as softer - i dunno what the weather tem for this is, except "ick".
Ha! I have to go outside to get to my bathtub!
I saw the painted buntings at the feeder at Corkscrew, too-my fav place in FL for birding.
ROBINDOG, I am so glad you mentioned Corkscrew as I have meant to go there for years. I just printed out the map, so I will be going this year for sure. Many thanks. We go to Ding Darling a lot as we stay on Sanibel. Now I see boojum goes there too. I will take lots of pictures for her. I know that is mean as she can't go, But maybe someday a Northeast DG Snow Birding RU in Fort Myers.
I doubt we will drive down to the EG this year. We use to spend time in the Keys, but my MIL sold her place there, and bought something boring, in our eyes, on Boca Grande. We only went there once. A very sad day for us when she sold the little old house in Islamorada that they had since the 50's. She was an avid birder. It was amazing to go out with her anywhere in the world. Her specialities were Buteos and shore birds, but she knew them all. I know a tiny fraction, but I do love seeing them. DH knows many from growing up with a birder, but has not studied them. We travel with our guide and binoculars, always. You never know. Patti
Patti - YES!!!! Great idea for a NE DG Snowbirding RU here in Fort Myers!!!! I'm THERE!!! Because I'm HERE! LOL
We're going to Ding Darling on Thursday and then we'll have dinner with friends on Sanibel. That's 20 minutes from our house. Most Sundays of my childhood were spent on Sanibel. At that time there was no bridge, so we did the ferry. We had good friends who lived there, so we spent a lot of time on the beach there. The seashells were unbelievable there then.....much harder to find the unusual shells today, but I can't resist beachcombing whenever we go.
Somehow I lost this thread, so I've just read all the way through it. So many nice photos! Al - I swear you should listen to all the comments and get your pieces into a good gallery. I think you could support yourself with your photography.
As I was reading that you guys were having some nice days in the 40s, I was feeling envious....LOL!!! It's really warm here now......tomorrow may break a record....pretty humid!! When I finished working outside, I was soaking wet at 11:30 this morning. Breakfast outside every morning is still awesome though!
DonnieBrook, The house I stay in Sanibel is on the site of the old post office and I think ferry landing. I used to sleep in old Post office, but my friends donated it to the historical association and finally built an insurable house when they moved down there year round. I wish there was still a ferry. I don't miss the giant snakes that lived in the overgrown old house and cistern. That was old Florida creepy. So are we all sleeping at your house for the winter RU? Patti
ZZZZZZZZZZZip code!
Patti, I'm looking forward to seeing how your DH does with "our" camera when birding! I was surprised to hear that your MIL lived in Islamorada. I went there for a week when I was 9. My DBF was also there as a kid so we made a pilgrimage when we first went to FL together. When I was a kid, there was a woman who had a restaurant named Fern Butters. She told us stories about hurricanes (standing in a bus up to her neck in water) and roses that never bloomed until the day Roosevelt (I think) died. I had my very first key lime pie there.

Boojum, I think I have her old recipe. I will check. Her old "Fern Inn." was sold years ago to a great Cuban couple named Manny and Isa who, strangely enough, recently sold their restaurant to our neighbor on Nantucket who opened up a French restaurant down there called Chantileer South after he sold his well known restaurant here. There is no resemblance to the old "Fern Inn" that you remembered, just at the same mile marker, as the property had undergone many renovations even during my short time down there. Isa made a good pie too and not with a graham cracker crust. We gave her picking privileges on the key lime tree at the house when we weren't there. Yummy stuff.
DH's family knew Manny and Isa very well as they were one of their first customers when the opened in the 50's, plus DH could chatter with them in Cuban. When DH's dad was terminally ill in 1980 we took him down for one last fishing trip . Manny showed up at the house with a huge array of Cuban food and a massive Spanish Paella as a special treat for him. I loved their picodillo. My DH parents started going down after WWII to bird and fish. After Hurricane Donna,1960, flattened the house that they rented each year, they built their own. DH and I went there often and even for our honeymoon to go bonefishing until his mom sold the house. It was on the Atlantic just down a couple of blocks past that great neon sign for the Green Turtle on the old road. We still have good friends down there, but haven't been back in too, too long. Now you have me wanting to head on down for some couch fritters, stone crabs and key lime pie. But the old haunts are mostly gone. The idea of eating gourmet French food down there seems inconguous, and you know how much I love great food. Patti
Very foggy this AM. 37 degrees.
35 here and we have a snow/sleet/ frz. rain mix here. Some places have lost power already! Good day to bake. Come to think of it I've had a lot of good days to bake this winter. I should be 15lbs. heavier by spring!!
45 here, overcast, a bit windy and rain predicted for late in the day.
47° here - supposed to go up to the 50's
Al, are you sending me your weather?? We have snow/sleet/ freezing rain for today and tomorrow is about the same.

I'm sending it everywhere - I can't get rid of it!
Milwaukee is supposed to get a foot today.
Endless winter for you guys!
It must make spring and summer all the more wonderful.
33F and foggy. freezing rain last night. Calling for severe winter storm tonight and tomorrow. Front coming up from Texas...lol...can't blame Canada for this one :)))
Rain bands moving through, but mild at a balmy 47 degrees now. What are the key strokes to get the degree symbol? Thanks, computer challenged, Patti
Inquiring minds....I don't know either.
Patti, so interesting that we have yet another connection!!!
Rain, rain, rain.
