Water Cooler - 5

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Candyce, how hard would it be to knock down some of those walls and make your house accessible for my wheelchair? There's 3 - 4 of us in 5 rooms and it's awfully cozy. Oh, but I guess DH's commute to Logan and UMass would be a bit far. xxx, Carrie

Carrie,
Who is the indefinite 4th person? Is that a personality issue?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

No, LOL, it is my 17 y.o. DD who lives mostly with my mother because she nearly flunked out of HS in this town. Here's where they managed to chalk her learning disability up to poor study habits due to her disrupted home and handicapped mother for grades 1 - 10. Now, in a different school with different teachers and some funky meds, she's doing really well. Presumably, SOME college well let her in . . .

I'm glad she is a full person with partial residence.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

She is more than a full person and there are at least three houses with piles of stuff with her name on them! x, C

I somehow could not picture your daughter being a shrinking violet!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Gee, David, (batting eyelashes unsuccessfully) whyever not? Please don't hold my uncouth behavior against my dear, young, misunderstood, tender daughter!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Of course not!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, that's a relief! x, Carrie

I'm leaving for vacation in the morning, and since I came home from work and got on DG, DH asked if I was bringing my laptop on vacation, I said no, and he asked how I'd live without it for a week. Oh well, will have to manage.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Funny, Deb. Have a great time! Skiing?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Out west, Vegas and national parks!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

How will WE live without YOU?

xx, Carrie

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

LOL Carrie!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh, I thought that vacation was for later in the year. Take lots of photos!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I will, trying to decide how many cameras and lenses to tote along!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

When are you leaving, and what airline are you flying?? xx, nosy Carrie

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Tomorrow noon, airtran - non stop flight.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hope the weather is good for the flight. Snowing here now and we have an advisory until 10 AM tomorrow.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I prefer flights that do stop'

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

just not too suddenly...

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm with Amy on this one - stop, but not abruptly. x, Carrie

Thanks everyone! I don't like flying, so am excited to have only one plane each way. Couple years ago on a connecting flight from Chicago, we lost one engine, and had to go back to Chicago - it was the worst feeling - scared and helpless. The pilot was great, and we got back to Chicago - he said he'd do everything he could to get another plane and fly us home that night, which he did.
I still have to pack, but had to get a last DG fix in.

Wishing you a fantastic time. I did Vegas with a day trip to the Canyon a couple of years ago. You will love it! Here are a few of my pics.

Debi - temp is supposed to hit 85 here today, Vegas usually about the same......and predicting unseasonably high temps through the week.....ie, mid 80's! But be prepared for anything! Have a great time!!!!!

Thanks mrsj - I was expecting cooler. Thanks Anita - pretty pics!

I don't want to include a link, because it's so disturbing, but did you all hear about the video that supposedly shows a marine throwing a puppy off a cliff? I won't watch it. If it's authentic and did happen, this guy should be in military prison for a long, long time.

You go Victor! I haven't heard of it, and I don't want to, but I support your opinion. ((shiver)) trying to get that image out of my head now....

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i'm with Harper.

The puppy - I won't watch it. Those men should be put in a cage and thrown - I will stop there.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I wouldn't call myself an animal lover, but while we were in the waiting room today we watched a CNN bit about how as people are losing jobs and being foreclosed on, they are abandoning their pets as too expensive! Seems like it should be in for a penny, in for a pound. x, Carrie

That totally disgusts me. I found this interesting and a good idea. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jgRWYTXz-GJFcPxxDs8ZMAUc613wD8V2BEM00

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I saw that the other day. Bob Barker was on hand at the presser.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I agree, good idea and Bob Barker should get some of the credit, too. I grew up with him saying "spay or neuter your pet". xxx, Carrie

This legislature was talked about in the Pets forum and the point that was brought up was that larger breeds of dogs could be harmed by being neutered so young. IMHO there is just no "one size fits all" solution.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Can't it be done a bit later?? Happened to me after marriage.

i've asked on Jax's thread, but is anyone interested in carpooling to the flower show this weekend?
i'd really like to go, but i won't drive to Boston alone for it...

Cat - does that stand for miles per hour - feline?

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

My dh would never have his male dog fixed (now deceased) - he said you don't do that to a male of any species!
