Water Cooler - 5

i think some people identify just a leetle too much with their pets. i feel really strongly about people getting their pets spayed and neutered, so i should probably say no more.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Or sprayed and noodled.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

That's not up to your usual witty standards, Victor...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Stop trying to change the subject so the animal lovers won't remember what you just said!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

what..?!?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

ID-ing too closely...Those are fighting words to animal people.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

As in, not getting your dog neutered because "No male should have that done to him." Which is an argument i have heard (from men)before. i think that is identifying too much. Especially when one considers the results.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I think Amy's statement was more strongly linked to men than animals:)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm all for spaying and neutering, so I'm not the person to ask. I have never heard any guys say that. Two of my friends have had vasectomies!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Amy, we cross posted, but I am like you. Unless someone is a real breeder, get the snip snip done.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Amen to that. There are so many unwanted animals out there, it is really sad...

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

True Amy, but I can say that progress has been made. A feral cat was a common sight 20 years ago along with their roadkill bodies on the sides of roads. I have not seen that for years in these parts which makes me very happy.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Changing the subject - did you hear that Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer?! How awful. That's one of the worst.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Victor, I thought your "sprayed and noodled" remark was up to your usual witty standards - it got a chuckle out of me!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I thought it was funny too Victor. I'm with Amy on the spaying and neutering subject. I think she put it very well.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

And that got a chuckle out of me, Sue! ♫♫ Pancreatic cancer is a hard way for anyone to go. ♫♫ Carrie

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I just saw that also about Patrick. Hope he can beat the odds and anyone else who's gotten that diagnosis.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Carrie, aren't you just the cat's pajamas with your little musical notes!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, I am! ♫ Carrie

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I feel strongly about spaying & neutering teenage humans. Only for a decade or so.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - long procedure.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I think there should be a switch. It doesn't get turned on until a woman actually wants a baby. Then it gets turned off when you don't need 'It' any more.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Funny, I've been saying that for years, Anita!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

now if they can only make it so!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I don't think it's too far off. It would be very controversial of course.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I wouldn't mind...I swear!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Not controversial with me.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Not controversial here either! I think we're speeding too fast toward overpopulation anyway.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I see an implantable device for girls that gets removed or 'turned off' when they want kids. There are plenty of people who would object to that. Same ones who say you don't have a right to have a gps device on your kids. Ridiculous.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i think the objection would be the same one raised against any means of birth control for teenagers - that it "encourages promiscuity."
(And now i fear this may be treading in forbidden waters...)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Probably is. I'm getting my ark ready for tomorrow!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Better fit it with skiis, Victor. We just suddenly are covered with white stuff again. still coming down.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh yuck! Ours is supposed to be all rain and I sure hope they're right.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

We're expecting 2 - 4" of rain. If that was snow, would it still be 2 - 4", or would it be more? How do they calculate that?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

It would be more because snow has air mixed in. x, C

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I've heard each inch of rain equates to 10 inches of snow

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Wow! Really? That would mean 20 - 40" of snow!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I've heard 10 inches too.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I've already had enough rain...what do you think?

I have new ponds in my yard too Anita. It's raining again and is supposed to all day! enough already!
