North Texas Garden Party - April 19th
Come one, come all to Waxahachie, TX for a day of sensational swapping, fabulous food, tremendous tours, and refreshing relaxation. We will meet at Getzendaner Park http://www.waxahachiechautauqua.org/getzendaner.pdf at 10:00am. Map: http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m&lat=32.401853&lon=-96.870603&mag=3&q1=I-35%2C%20Waxahachie%2C%20Tx&q2=400%20South%20Grand%20Ave.%2C%20Waxahachie%2C%20TX%20 We will have a small swap, then have a pot luck lunch at 12:00(I will assign entrees, sides, drinks and desserts once we have a good headcount, let us know what you WANT to bring) After we get our bellies full, we'll take a carpool (1:30ish) on a tour of Waxahachie's nurseries and public and private gardens. Depending on what time we get back, we'll either take time to allow folks to situate their plants, make quick trips back to the nurseries to get a plant they just have to have, and/or just visit with each other. Around 6:00pm we'll head back to my place where drinks (alcoholic and non) will be served along with brisket, and sides. Bring your spouses, kids, and plants for a great time in the Crape Myrtle Capital!

umm question who's driving the bus???? is this a city bus or a private owned one or ya gonna high jack one from the school district????
I think it might be a car train - a bus would be nice...
ok well If you could get a a school bus free and a certain someone(clears throat) can make it then you would have a certified Texas school bus driver to drive it ..would just need a co-pilot to know where to go LMAO

Phyllis, I would love for you to drive! I can navigate. I don't know yet if it will be one big bus or 2-3 small buses. Need to get a good headcount, first.
I have it on my calendar, and barring anything unforseen, I'll be there.

well keep in mind Bronc most buses now a days (big ones) hold 78 but that is thinking they are all kindergarten...
so you figure 2 adult sizes to a seat so maybe 48 adults 2 to a seat comfortably (if there area 12 seats to a side) give or take a lil depending on size and if there are kids you could probably put one in with 2 adults.
I am going to put in tomorrow for it off I don't know of anything on the calendar so there shouldn't' be a problem and IF they have an issue with it well then I will just say my goodbyes and only drive the school bus here and pick up field trips....we already know I need more time for plants and gardening so I can get flower beds, veggie garden and what not planed out for my yard LOL...I didn't move to Texas to have to work my life away

My mom's church has a bus and I'm hoping we can use it. If not, I'll have to look into renting a bus. We'll have bus one way or another!

We'll have to cross that bridge when we get there. We've got 3 months. I'll have it all sorted out within two months of the event, I promise!

Well I need to go put in my reservation uh I wrote it on the calendar at work tonight that I was out the 19th of April ..there was nothing written in for an event so I WILL be there.....do you have a tent and sleeping bags for anyone that wants to stay later instead of driving all the way back home that night after the after party??? LMAO

Thanks Mitch--I'm going to try and make it. Since my daughter's up at college station its lost its luster as far as general tourism goes (and for her too, I might add) for me. At least this way I can go to a town I can honestly say I don't ever remember being in. I hear they have a nice looking courthouse or is it a city hall up there. Archetecturally speaking (always been spelling challenged here and not even going to try and tackle correcting that word! lol).
That it is - and the story of the faces... maybe we can make it on the tour! There are so many stunning homes too...
and I bet they have stunning spring gardens too! Maybe we can "gawk" at some of them from the sidewalk. =)
That they do - there is one home - ohhhh I would love to be rich and could buy that place.
