College Station Spring Roundup-TRADES

Kyle, TX(Zone 8b)

Marylyn_TX, trying to dig and transplant Mtn. Laurel is almost a waste of time. They DO NOT like to have their roots disturbed. If you damage the LONG tap root, it is all over. I have posted the method of propagation (on the propagation forum I think) but will be glad to share it with anyone interested. We raise them by the hundred and it is a slow process. They are one of the slowest growing plants in the world. I am going to bring some to the RU. Gene

Kyle, TX(Zone 8b)

AuntAnne, I had no idea that jacaranda would grow here. Do you have to protect it? We had a small tree in CA. and I absolutely loved it. dmail me with your secret if you don't mind sharing. Gene

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Well, I'm guessing that it will. I got the pod from Anaid in San Antonio. She sent it as a very sweet "extra" to a trade that we did. I opened the pod and there were a bunch of seeds. I'm going to plant some today will hold out some if anyone just wants seeds, or will trade the seedlings (assuming that my brown thumb with seeds doesn't undo me)

Anne

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Adding all requests to my trade list. Please check and make sure I didn't miss anyone.

Charlene, is Alabama Sunset the only coleus you want? I added a couple this morning. They'll be smaller than Alabama, but they'll catch up.

Kim, may I have a couple of your pink crinum bulbs, and a couple of your mom's red lilies? Also, if you have coleus that are different than mine, I'd love some cuttings.

Does anyone have rooted coral nymph salvia? For some reason I can NOT root salvias myself.

Linda, do you have another milkweed, and is there something I can share with you?

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

pbtxlady - Pattie,...I should have some Coral Nymph rooted (if the freezes haven't taken them) I'll be glad to bring you some! Lee

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady, yes, I have more. Do you have any more of that Ragin' Cajun ruellia? They're so pretty!

Lee, I believe I missed your post. Yes, to both! Do you have a Flatwoods Plum left?

Charlene, I can put you down for 2 of the C. pitcheri and one Mexican Milkweed. Do you still have a shrimp plant available? And I'd love to have a jug of manure tea, if that's okay! What a great idea!

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Linda and Charlene, I have put you both down for Ragin' Cajun. I have to tell you, they've always been kinda finicky for me. Isn't that funny? I have all the other kinds of ruellia, and I can't even begin to keep up with all their offspring. Ragin' Cajun is the one I truly love--but it never comes back, never reseeds, and refuses to root in rooting medium. I've only ever been able to root it in water, and that is slow. But I'm starting them now, and I think they will be ready by March.

Updating my list with everything else that was mentioned. Thanks to all.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, I just noticed that you asked for butterfly plants. Do you have a butterfly bush (buddleia)? I have one rooted.

San Antonio, TX

Space resrvd for ......."ME" :) Im gonna try again to attend. Im still growing some of the previous cuts in my green house and Im glad I might be able to trade some off this spring. I'll get my list in here as soon as i can: Yippee!!!!!

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Linda, I will put in an order for your shrimp and tea. Did you want that tea sweet or unsweet LOL.
Charlene

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks to all!

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Just one Flatwoods Plum...thanks, Lee.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I updated my list...please make sure I added your requests. I also added a few more things to it.

Willis....I would love the lutea passionvine and mw, perhaps I could have a japanese plum and an agastache as well?

Linda....could I have a clematis and a cedar sage?

pbtxlady....I know I have asked for so much already....but perhaps could I have an echinacea and a catmint? I don't know the names of my coleus cuttings, but you can take a look at them and decide if you want them. I should also have some daylilies to dig.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Oooo, what kind of daylilies Kim?

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, no problem with the catmint. I have tons of coneflowers, but not positive I can dig them by March 15. If I can, I'll sure bring you some.

You know you and Anna brought me daylilies in October. But I'm having to share them with my mom. :) I'm not sure who brought what, but if you could bring one more of each, that would just be super.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

silverfluter and pbtxlady....I will need to check and see what is up that I could divide. I know there is at least three that are nice big clumps right now.

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

blue_eyes : Kim,..I've reserved 1 each of the butterfly weed, as well as the Loquat and the Yellow Passion flower vine and the blue agastache.
If you have enough,...may I have a pink crinum and a white crinum...also a salvia madrensis pup would be great!
Thanks, so much!
Oh btw, do you have any of the dark pink-wine colored Ellen
Bosanquets? I still have several.

Linda - got one FW plum with your name on it!

This will be our 1st RU and 2nd plant swap (btw - has anyone heard from Nana lately?) Dee & I are both excited about this coming RU.

Lee

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Lee, no I haven't heard from Nada, renatelynne, she was supposed to come to the fall swap but didn't make it, I haven't heard from her since.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim did you get any of those seeds from LaLambchop? Last fall she had more ees than she could plant so she was sending seeds out all over the country.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Yep....I've got some of her daylily seeds too, and they are outside in my winter sow containers. I've already got several sprouting despite the 22F temperature this morning.

Lee....thanks so much! I'll put your name on those.

I wanted to point out here as well that some people are wanting the swap to be a later date as it has been in the past. The last couple have been the last weekend in April rather than in March, and I think some regulars were planning on it being that weekend again this year. I have not made the reservation yet, so please go over to the headcount thread and let me know what you think!

Kim

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I have made a new thread for everyone to weigh in on whether to change the date of this roundup: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/805925/ . Please post what you would like to do.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok...it seems like April 12 has become the new date for the roundup. Here is the link for the new roundup thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/806183/ . Trades can still be posted here.

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Jo....I guess I'm slippin' cause I knew it was Nada...not Nana. Good Grief,...I hope they have a gardening area at my soon-to-be home at whichever "Golden Manor" my family decide to put me in

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh Lee, you are a sweetheart.

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, I'll save you a clematis and a cedar sage. Could I have some mint, please?

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

You can have as much as you want! Lol.....I've got a lot to dig up. Thanks!

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Charlene...I finally got around to checkin' your trade list....may I have a cedar elm tree and a couple of the Tropicanna cannas pls? Thanks so much! Lee

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Lee, do you have any more of the blue agastache? I'm a total goner for blue flowers.

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

I do....& your name's on one of them! :)

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Lee, I have you down for all your requests. I can get plenty of the cedar elms. About how big do you want yours and how many? I can easily get up to one foot tall, larger if needed, but wouldn't want to bring over 18" as they would be too risky to transplant.
Charlene

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Lee, I'd like to have two each of your 'Silky Gold' and 'Silky Red' milkweed seedlings and a blue agastache (if you have another). I've posted a link to my list, but it is far from complete. I'll be adding a lot more over the next few weeks.
Thanks, Patricia

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, would you put my name on a couple of your shrimp plants and salvia madrensis pups? I've posted a link to my list, and I will be adding some new stuff as we get closer to spring. Thanks, Patricia

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Linda, could I get a couple of your clematis pitcheri and Mexican milkweed? Thanks, Patricia

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Pat...will do....the shrimp plants are just rooted cuttings right now, but most are potted up and should hopefully get bigger by the RU.

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Charlene - I'd like a couple....8-12" would be fine & easier to dig!
Thanks, Charlene!

Patricia - I've got you down for 2 ea. of the red & gold MW and a blue Agastache!
Lee

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Pat, you wanted 2 of each? Okay. Could I have a couple of the 'Ice Follies' Narcissus?
