CLOSED: Second Chance Wishlist #4
Wind, could I try the Rose of Sharon, Lavender???
Wind... AHHHHHHHH What is that daisy in your pic? If anybody got it, that a I want, I need, a please somebody gimmie it. I in lust for that one. LOL
If nobody has it, can ya give me a name so I can try and find some of it?
wind - can I try purple jew (really great in hanging baskets, can easily overwinter cuttings) I have seen pictures in hanging baskets with other plants and they look great!
I think that photo is feverfew. KD
Colchie - I have cleomes to share.
Susybell, I dmailed you about some 'black prince' :)
I updated my list again :)
cat, got you down for the rose of sharon and.....YAY!!! I finally have something to trade with starlight!!! I'll send in some for you :)
The little daisy is feverfew believe it or not. It is one of my favorites. It works great in cut flower arrangements too. It does self sow. I let it pop up where it wants to because I like it so much.
got your request too Seandor :) you'll love it, it blooms all summer. I have read it can be invasive in certain areas if planted in the ground. I use it in hanging basket arrangements.
....I have to go now...have a good night everyone. I'll check back again tomorrow :)
~Diana
Colchie -- I have Fuschia 4-O'Clocks. yours for the taking.
Tuink -- no, didnt choke on it, thanks. very LONG day. but Lunch was great [mexican] and cake was OK. So i just picked at it ...
My dad's SO has has a storage locker [big concrete about 10x15] and been filling it for 14 yrs!! most of it was unloaded into my car .... my sister is going do donate it all... it was awful. So much stuff i couldnt see out the back... the 21 mile drive home in rush our traffic was terrible. but -- we are done cleaning over there... and as i told my sister... at least she is cleaning it out before she passes away... horrid thought, but it'd be much worse if we had to go thru it on our own -- as DH had to do. [sorry for the ramble.... it's been a long day]
KD -- did you still need a head count .... I've got a rough count of 29-30. Two i need to go back and reverify.
Terese
susybell, if you're not out of them yet, I would like some
Antirrhinum majus Black Prince -lots! ( don't need 'lots' LOL...just copied from your list)
wind put up the link, and of course I had to go look at them, and now I can't stand it, they're so beautiful
and if you have any more
Tropaeolum minus, Nasturtium 'Whirlybird Cherry Rose', I would like to try those, too, pls
I sent you a d-mail, too
susybell, I'd like to try some of your Antirrhinum majus Black Prince, purty please. : )
~Lucy
Colchie, I have joe-pye weed for you
Lebug, Speaking of that -- I cannot find the Chocolate Joe Pye weed person. If there was one. I can't get to the whole first thread to check, either. Is it chocllate colored or chocolate scented?
I searched ALL of the Seed Swap threads... and the only mention of it was on Maozamon's WANT list.
Could not find it anywhere else.
I did a quick search, and found a thread back in '05 where a guy was offering seeds... it seems it really re-seeds itself.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/525875/
Hi Guys, wow, this is fun! I had no idea how challenging it would be to get these lists of who wanted what all organized and straight. I'm working on everything- including my want list. I don't know how you with the huge long lists keep it all straight!
tcs, you are too good! thank you I'll tag them for her, I was looking for her want list and never found it too many posts lol
I hope it does reseed, I planted it on a small hill my Joe Pye Weed has never reseeded and people told me it would doesn't look like it does in the field either.
Poor susybell and the 'black prince' this may scare her away from any swaps in the future lol
OK, so here's a question for you pros. How do you determine who "got there first"-which comes first, dmail or thread requests?
No, the black prince isn't fazing me just yet...;)
>>tcs, you are too good!
thanks... and Yea.. i can find just about anything.
suzybell -- I too would go by the time stamp.
Susy, My dmail was first lol
This message was edited Jan 11, 2008 9:18 PM
lol! thanks, Ok, going to go compare some more....
Suzy - I dmailed you about the Chocolate Joe Pye Weed - had some left from SilkieChick's Charlie & the Chocolate Factory swap back in March '07. I'm splitting it between you and Maozomom. Actually, I have 3 species of joe-pye-weed from trades and am dividing it up among you, Maozamom and Colchie, now I am officially out of that one.
frausnow - I dmailed you about your wish for any kind of cosmos - I'm sending you 'Little Princess' and hoping you have enough seed from your have's trade list of Aubrieta Whitewell Gem to share with me.
PamSue - you're going to let me know if you want to take a chance with a trade labeled pink swamp hibiscus - without the latin name, it can be either of at least 2 genera.
Colchie - I dmailed you about Paeonia tenuifolium - you probably were stampeded over that one, so I'll understand if I was too late. The seed I offered you still stands.
Suzy, Michaela and Lea - hope things get better occupation-wise. There's a lot of support in the DG community for weathering tough times like this. Certainly, what coud be more frugal and spirit lifting than seed trading?
Thanks Pamsue.
Here's a picture of Black Prince in a nice combination from Laurie1 that she posted in the PNW forum last summer.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3781413
These are the people I'm sending it to so far.
Suzy
Seandor
LeBug
KD2000
grampapa
Blueglancer
Susybell, If there is any left I would like some.
Robin
Thanks
Hi Robin, Ok, you're on my list. :)
Susy -- Give it to your friends first, then look at the time stamp. :))
That Black Prince sure is popular. Laurie1's picture looks just like a catalog picture.
Blue -- The Joe Pye Weed thing got a little skewed, probably due to my poor pronoun usage and rushing around. I do not need any Joe Pye weed at all, of any kind. I already have it.
TCS - There are other participants you don't know about yet because they dmailed me that they were in (Jan 1!!!) but they were swamped until this weekend and asked how big a problem it would be, etc...I told them to jump right in whenthy could. So there will be a couple more, Margaran and also Peggy, but I forget her user name, add Blueglancer, and Flowerhead10 is in if she decides she wants to be. There might be one more, somebody from the south, to be honest I forget, and the dmails scrolled off, and they may have changed their minds.....
All-- Terese/TCS is doing a huge public service job of combining all your lists & wishlists into a single document for me. The raw data is 286 pages long! and she is distiling it into useable form for me. I have done that before, and I have given up on trying to do it, too, in something similar to this, and it is a HUGE undertaking! Thank you Terese!
Suzy
Please request any seeds by DMAIL so I will make sure to get it. I will confirm back also by DMAIL. Thanks

Ansonfan! Nice list!
Can you tag White Borage for Tuinkabouter, please?
Also, Margaran wants the Toadflax, please
Who was dying for Feverfew, Oh, yes, Starlight! Tag one feverfew for Starlight. (There is a pic of it above that Wind posted)
Did I ask for Balsam Mix - bright fuschia and lavender already? I want that!
I have other things in mind for other people, too, but, peeps, the more he tags the less I have to guess!!
As an aside, The Queen Anne's Pocket Melon has an interesting history. It is VERY fragrant! and was used in the 17th and 18th centuries as a pomander (not sure that 's the right word) that ladies actually carried in their dress pockets as a perfume to disguise their odor, I presume, or perhaps to disguise the odors around them? It smells like a melon, not perfume in case I wasn't clear. It is a little thing -ansonfan, do you also eat it? Can you smell it just walking around the garden? IN anycase, a melon has interesting foliage and is a vine, if you have the space this might be a cool one to pick up.
For the kids who are sending in 35-50 packs of seeds, or more, I suppose, and are chomping at the bit to add some more packs, you can add anything from Ansonfan's list to your envie for "free" (no seed count problems). He says he has plenty.
Thanks,
Suzy

George, great list! You sure did a bang up job!! Now 'she' will expect us all to do it that way lol That's what I should have done, instead of all that writing :)
Well, I'll be a monkeys uncle. I bought a truck load of mulch this year, and 2 of those Queen Anne's Pocket Melons came up in my flowerbed. My DH and I never could figure out what they were.
I tasted one, and it wasn't poison or anything. lol Not bad tasting. Glad to finally know what it was. Thanks George. : )
~Lucy
Yes, good idea LeBug! ROTFL!!!
Everybody may as well paste lists of what they still have here on this #4 thread. Nothing like seeing all the goodies together. If you want to be clever like Ansonfan, you *could* go the extra mile, and put PF links so I have more tagged seed packs, and less work to do. But I would *nev-er* make it mandatory. ;)
Frau Snow, did you see Ansonfan's extensive marigold listing?
I cannot believe that Basil is still there! Get that Basil! That Siam Queen is highly sought after (but I forget why) and EVERYBODY needs regular basil, if only for the fragrance alone! It smells great when you brush up against it. Same with cinnamon & Lemon Ummmmm.
Pesto requires a tremendous amount of basil, but having just one plant will be enough to make that salad with the fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil leaves with a vinaigrette all summer. (My kids know what it's called, but I don't.
Suzy
I have alot of his marigold seeds, I just got from him. Can't wait to get them planted. : )
Suzy,
Forgot to tell you earlier that I've got you down for all that you asked for. I had to walk away from all this for a while!
