Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi all, I'm up and caffeinating and reading everything. I'll be writing back very soon.

's-Gravenhage, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

TCS1366,
You didn't choke on the cake, I hope?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

FrauS. nd I'd like the Wheatstraw Celosia (Spicata Group) Celosia argentea var. spicata - wine color

Unless I already asked for it. LOL!

Suzy

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

PamSue, Can I have these, please?

abutilon bella mix (c) ( 10 seeds ) 1 zones 8b + winter
abutilon bella deep coral ( g) 10 seeds same as above
perennial geranium unknown 8 seeds

If somebody else wants the coral ones, I will trade 2 of my mixed seeds for 2 of their coral ones. (I want the mix, but I want to make sure I get a coral) I can do the seed switching here if somebody reminds me in February to do it.

Suzy

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I would love coral ones - or any ones! :-)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

There ya go, then. We'll just ask Pam to count them out for us. LOL! Pam, Do you have time?

I keup saying I'll do this and I'll do that, but I really have no idea if I will be able to.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Illoquin - I don't think anyone is keeping score - we will all be getting sooooo much that it doesn't matter if everything doesn't turn out exactly as we plan. :-)

I just found out one of my classes was cancelled, so now I only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a 1 hr lab late Monday afternoons.

Whooohooo! Lots of time for the gardens!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Yay! More time!!! Does that change your paycheck, though? That would be bad!

Suzy

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Ok, I think I got everyones request, if you didn't get a dmail from me from today let me know I may have missed one.

Who was asking me about the green envy seeds coming true yesterday, I had an emergency and was hurrying and not sure if I put them in your envelope I looked for the dmail and couldn't find it :)

Lea

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Lebug, Speaking of that -- I cannot find the Chocolate Joe Pye weed person. If there was one. I can't get to the whole first thread to check, either. Is it chocllate colored or chocolate scented?

Suzy

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi LeBug...I hope your emergency turned out ok...I asked you about the green envy :) I really love it and have been buying if for the past several years now...don't you like it anymore? I was on a green kick for awhile (still am) as well as plants with burgundy stems!!!!

I'm trying to get to moving my list over to this #4 side, will get it moved later today hopefully with updates.

I still have the tall red/burgundy amaranth, here is a photo

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

lol Suzy, I was so busy all summer I didn't get to smell it to see if it was chocolate scented, the flowers are white and sometimes it's bronze colored, seems like it starts coming up bronze colored then goes to almost green on the foliage, I have a feeling this is one of the joe pye weeds that don't come true or at least stay true to their nature. I'm going back to check and see who it was :)

Lea

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, income for the term will be less by $2800. sigh . . .

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Wind, I just didn't like the green envy they were too pale for me and they got floppy I won't grow them again but I don't have the great full sun like you all do on here my sun is weird lol I did put some in your envelope :)

My DIL was just running a very high temp. yesterday so had to run in to take her to the hospital and was in the middle of doing seeds when my son called they don't have anyone else to call in town :) Everything is alright though she's got the flu.

I got laid off and was working 12-15 hours a day plus Sat. 8 hrs. and now depend on dad for money quite a change for me! If it wasn't for planting all of these lovely seeds then the plants I would go crazy not to mention missing the money and having to depend on someone else for money which I haven't done in a long time! I feel like a kid again, daddy can I have a dollar? lol

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Now you know my pain...I am a stay at home, so I have the time, but sometimes money for ME and my hobbies (as opposed to the household) can be a problem.

Wind: Me ME! ME!!!! I want the burgundy Amaranth....

I hate that name. Amaranthus is different, then? Are they the same genus and different species, or the same or what, I wonder. I wonder because of cross pollination. Did you grow others kinds of Amaranth(us)?

Suzy

Good grief - thunder! gotta turn off the computer.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

no others now*. I did notice that every now and then I get a green leaf with burgundy veins plant. I'm intrigued by it, as it is beautiful too. This season it did grow in the patch then I yanked it out! But I've done that before and I still get tons of red, just like the photo, amaranth. So if you get a green leaf one with red veining you can decide which color scheme works best for you :) The green leaf got a more lavender toned tassel.

It is a prolific self sower I got from a local community gardener so I don't have the exact id. The ladies name was Vetty. So I call it the Vetty plant!!! often I dig up babies and move them because they pop up just where I don't want it :) Easy to pluck out the babies, is not invasive.

* I did try to grow Hot Bisquits and a green tassel one which I really wanted but they just hated the spots (which were dry, clay soil, opposite end of the yard from the red) they didn't come back.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

so Suzy, I got you down for some burgundy amaranth :)

note for red okra seed takers:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/803331/#new

Hi, everyone. I finally got a day off, and have finished organizing all my seeds for the swap. Here they are:

Digitalis Lutea – originally from the botanical garden – Trinity College, Dublin
Jasione Montana – Sheep’s bit
Larkspur
Lavetera Ruby Regis
Marigolds – tall yellow
Nigella – pale blue
Oleander – pink – from Greece
Paeonia Tenuifolium – from the former soviet republic of Georgia.
Papaver somniferum - fringed deep red
Papaver somniferum – mixed colors – singles and doubles
Red Castor bean
Rocky Mountain Penstemon
Shirley poppy – mixed colors
Tall single dahlias – seed originated in the garden of Mrs. Mary Byrne – Donegal
Trumpet vine – orange – from Greece

I am soooo excited to join up as I’m starting a Master Gardener program tomorrow, and am ready to be knee deep in muck. I will have way more seeds next year (if I’m invited back). I was gone a lot during the summer, and lost a few things.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh WOW! I am soooo envious! Very best of luck with the Master Gardener program.

Keep notes so you can clue us rookies in on gardening secrets :-)

Vashon, WA(Zone 8a)

Say, I would love (LOVE) if any of the following were still available:
Verbascum - any
Hellebore - especially if it's white
Abutilon - the coral sounded nice
Rudbeckia - ?indian summer, Prairie sun
Cleome - pink and white mix
Purple amaranth
Agapanthus - especially if it's storm cloud
Evening primrose - tall or ground cover types
Four o'clocks
Joe Pye Weed

(sorry, I forgot to list those)
Caroline

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

You have madrona tree seeds???? Really? Wow - I doubt they would survive here, but anyone in zone 8 or so, that can provide well drained soil - like a hillside, and wants a truly beautiful tree, this is it!
