CLOSED: Second Chance Wishlist #4

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I had to start a new thread, and what better timing than Weezingreen's announcement that she has a winebox full of seeds is one its way fro Alaska to INdianapolis?

We came from here:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/802375/

Weezingreens made this announcement, and we'll go from here. If you posted after this, and think it's still relavant, go ahead and repost here.

I'm not going to put my list up on this thread, since it is too long. Basically, I've sent Illoquin all my past trade seeds, keeping only the ones collecting in 2007. The bags of seeds stuffed a wine case box. So, except for a few things I ran out of over the last year, my DG tradelist is what I sent. I also sent two gallon ziplocks of seeds I culled out of my personal tote, some older than not. I don't know how Suzy plans to offer these seeds, but I trust her to do a good job seeing they get used up. Once we get rolling on this swap, I'll update my tradelist, but for now, I'll leave it up as a reference.

And then I replied,

Hi WZ!!!

A wine box?? You're sending a whole wine box of little seed packets? LOL!

Thank you behalf of all the little oinkers!

I hope you have at least scanned the thread, because if you have, you know one thing: A new list brings a stampede! I'll go crazy with trying to keep up if you post a list until I see what is what when the box gets here. It will all have to be on paper and those little lists can get lost and feelings get hurt. If I have the seeds, I can list them in different batches, at different times of the day so the people who work a normal shift get just as much chance as the people who are on the west coast, or whatever.

In fact, what do you think about not putting your list up at all? There are a number of people who have maybe one things on their wishlists I would like to fill from your stock, or at least scan ahead of time, and then there are a few people who are sending in way more than they've taken, and they need to be taken care of. Maybe I can offer them first dibs on 5 things, or if a wine box is what I think it is, 10 things? Enough to give them something wonderful in return for their offerings, but enough to have lots and lots and lots left over for the trough?

Your tradelist has links to the pictures and it is wonderful to be able to click instead of going back and forth to PFs copying and pasting.

Suzy

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Lea -- that is the plan... i have to see if I have more edits left for the day so i can add that in.... but it almost seems that #1 has died down.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Thread #1 is dead in the water and I had Terry close it...so whoever was talking Castor Beans, I didn't see anything!!!

Oh, my, I am exhausted after the flurry of new thread making! Thanks to Terese/TCS for helping me out of my, "I can't get to my own thread!" jam!

I need to get dinner started and maybe look around and see if I can clean up a little.

Susybell from Virginia has just joined up, so she'll be posting her list soon. I'm not sure if she's done a swap before, but she is new to seed colelctig, anyway. If she posts a wishlists, will you all look into your untagged seeds and give her some choices?

Gotta run, BB Later

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

It's okay, I have at least one caster bean request covered, Illoquin :-)

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

I have Castor Bean (4 mixed cultivars)
How about that Blue Myth. I thought someone had lost their two front teethhhhhh.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi all,

Um, other coast....yep, the left one... ;) I'm kind of in-between Rachie & Pamsue.

I've been having so much fun reading (and trying to follow) you that I decided that I'd like to join you!

Totally new to being part of a real seed swap, although I've gotten a few SASBE seeds from a couple of you (Hi LeBug!) and I think I'm doing a plant trade with Fairy1004 and another one with LeBug this spring.

I really don't have a whole lot of seeds to offer yet, but I will put up a list later. Need to run away from DG for a bit now, though.

(Zone 7a)

Here are my updated lists for available and tagged seeds as of 1/16/08. Since I'm not always on top of the threads, I hope you will dmail me with any wishes or changes.

Regarding the tagged seeds, there are still others I have tagged but not yet included in this list, and some I'm waiting on in the mail that Weez might like to have. Since the butterfly seeds are planned as leftovers from those not tagged, y'all feel free to let me know if you want any of these and - if you see any mistakes.

Suzy, I'll pull the datura, buddleia & hibiscus before I send any not taken - let me know if you think any others should be pulled. So far, if my arithmetic is correct, I count 101 tagged for others, 18 tagged for Margaran's butterflies, and 32 tagged for me + 11 from Weez. I'm glad my seeds found homes and I am so delighted with the ones tagged for me, that they are enough - am not expecting 50 or more seeds back.

This is what some of us are calling the "Suzy Seed Swap"

basically, we all are posting a list of the seeds we have to swap to others, and
a list of seeds we'd like to have, from others list.

It may be a confusing pain to have to read thru some 800 posts ... but if you just look for the really long ones with seed lists, you can see what others are offering.

or -- just post a list of seeds you would LOVE to have, adn others will offer to set them aside for you.

THEN, you pack it all up and mail it to Suzy ... re-read the very first post on this thread for directions.

hope this helps

OPsss. you will find the "rules" here

Mamajack, I had to close it to new people. Just did it, as a matter of fact right after I saw how many dmails I had! I can't juggle even one more thing. or one more person.

We'll catch you for the CG Swap in Nov and I'll do this again next year.

Suzy / Tcs - Do you know how many players we have? Thanks so much. KD

Orrville, OH(Zone 5b)

This has gotten so large and busy, I don't know how you're doing it now. But you're doing it well. The Mighty Illoquin our Super Hero.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Okay I am back form dinner and dishes and all.

Bummed because I just found out my dd #1 didn't get the job she was sure she was going to get in Chicago, and all I can see if how much rent she's paying. GULP!

I had to close the signups because I couldn't watch over one more thing or one more person. And I had some foreign dmailes, but it gets so dang complicated, and the Feb 1 deadline is right around the corner for international mailing.

Ansonfan, same here on the Blue Myth LOL! That was my exact thought. Blue Mist Mlue Myth -- say it three times real fast!

Blue, I love the rating system -- and I feel somewhat certain that you are possibly the only person here who even knows what those things even are! Naturally my first inclination is to say, sure, they're yours, but also, I am not sure what's coming to me....little seedpacks? Big bags of seed that needs to be cleaned and counted out and packed? I cannot commit to even one single person, not because I dont'want you all to get every single pack of seed you want, but because I can't make it happen until I see what is there.

We have a masterlist of 29 people, KD. Dryad is working up a spreadsheet. I have a feeling it is 26 because we haven't seen anything from those 3 that joined all together.

Fairy, I haven't read iHorticulture in years, but in the olden days, Horticulture had about 2 issues a year that interested me -- really really interested me. Then there were 2 that are just weird and modern: a house built on a mountainside with weeds growing below it , or something they called a garden in the desert mountains, or a garden made enntirely out of cactus or containers..things that were educational, but nothing like what I could ever hope to attain. The rest were usually middle of the road good. They might have an entire issure devoted to mushrooms or Aconitum. So I enjoyed the Aconitum, but not the msuhrooms so much. LOL!

Suzy

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks so very much for agreeing to let me join in at the last minute. I'll do my best to not be too high maintenance, even though I'm a newbie!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL! You'll be okay. I just hope you can find your way around the lists of seed. Just let us know what you'relooking for and we can check our own lists.

Uggg, i can let you know tomorrow... i'm half way thru the very first thread, creating a DOC for Suzy... i'm tired -- so when i get back at in the AM... i'll try to get a good head count... at one point i read Suzy say 19, but i think a few more jumped in after that.

toronto, Canada

Thanks, and thank you both for all the work you are putting into this for us all. Have a good night. KD

Polkton, NC(Zone 7b)

I want to jump in right here and say a big THANK YOU to Susy. I have absolutely no idea how you are juggling this thing on top of a real life. I am just a player in this swap and I am on the edge of obsessive/compulsive behavior here counting seeds and baggies and lists. If I can help PLMK, otherwise I am going to back away from the trough for a bit and let the dust settle. I'll still be keeping up with the posts and of course responding to any requests.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Was just thinking of you-- can I have some Hearts and Honey Vine, too, or are you all sold out? LOL!

Regarding real life, I am just ignoring it for the month of Jan. Kids are gone and this is what I want to do. My house doesn't get *that* messy, except for the seeds, of course, but I keep that confined if I can.

Truly, this has been a whole lot of fun forme....well worth the time. Don't you think it's been pretty entertaining?

Suzy

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

It will be more fun for me next year. : ) This year so far, I'm having a hard time getting a grip. But, you are right, Suzy, it has been entertaining watching the lil chicks, er, I mean lil piggies. lol : )

Tuink,
How hard is the lapageria rosea to start from seed? That's been on my wish list for a while, but I'm a seed newbie.

's-Gravenhage, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

Susybell,

I don't know! I got these as a present from Thompson & Morgan (being a regular with them) but as my zone 8 is too cold for it, I thought to make someone else happy with them. If you don't mind hauling it back inside over winter or if you have a greenhouse, you may want to try this one....

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Tuink,
Well, as it looks like no one else is interested, I'd like to give it a shot if I may?
I'm still working on my lists and I feel funny asking before my stuff is posted, but with your early deadline I hope you don't mind? Could I also have these?
1x Lathyrus latifolius Pink Pearl (20 seeds)
1x White Lychnis coronaria

Thank you!

's-Gravenhage, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

Susiebell,

I have many more seeds to offer!
However, Lapageria, Lathyrus Pink Pearl and Which Lychnis coronaria have been tagged for you!

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Yanno --- I see everyone mentioning "Veronica" i honeslty have no idea "what" that is.... so i think i have to have some.

Suzy -- out of any extras that come in... toss some on my "can". Color doesnt matter.

I in all honesty... i just have to STOP looking... yea, i know i've said that before.. but i will be so overwhelmed when all of this comes in and I have to WS it all... or find places to put it all.... I was even "dreaming" about sowing!! too many seeds spinning around in my head.

Suzy -- so sorry to hear your DD didnt get that job. I know the move to Chicago was a big step, and probably and expensive one... 'specially being in the city. I'll be sending good vibes.

I'll be around part of the morning, working on your DOC and stuff... but i have to go to Evanston today with my sister and will be gone til probably dinner. Uggg, almost dreading this, but I'm getting Lunch out of it, plus BDay cake, which dad's SO insists on , that i'm not even supposed to know about... she chooses her fave, Black Forest, and I dont even like cherries... but.. thought that counts... she loves to buy cakes. ... just what i need, more cake.

as I said... i'll be in and out for a few hours.
