Daily Pics. Vol 50

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I have been invited to kick off with a new thread.

We came from here,

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/802548/#top

Robin landed on the fence a short distance from me while I was under a bush, to do his thing and fluff up his thermal feathers.

His feathers were fluffed to maximum to soak in the warmth.

Wonderful pics, Wallaby!

It feels like I could caress him, so cute he is!
Haven't seen my robin around yet...

Very nice pics wallaby!

Thanks for starting the new thread!

Dellrose those pics at the end of the last thread were great!!

Klamath River, CA

These California Quail think that Spring is near. It's stopped snowing and it's up to 37 degrees. Power is back. Only took 23 hours to re store it this time.

Oh yes he is so cute bonitin, I think the female is around too as I had heard a little reply when was singing. I'm not sure if the female sings too, they are supposed to look the same.

You need to walk around your garden with your camera, if there is one resident they are curious and will follow you around.

This one I took today, he was on the shady side of a tree singing his head off.

I'm always fascinated by the birds that frequent other yards... not just those in the UK... where a Robin looks a whole lot different than they do in Georgia! But finding quail in a backyard has to be pretty cool, too.
So often, I look out to see what's interesting at my feeders and I say "It's just a red-headed woodpecker... just a Carolina Wren.... just a ... you get the idea. I enjoy watching them all, but go looking for something that's not such a "frequent flier." I forget there are those who would trade me one of their "just anothers" for one of my "just another's"
Regardless... they're all beautiful, and so much joy to watch and feed.

Poor quails look like they just don't know where the food went Adelbert. That must be awkward being without power so often.

Thanks pelle :~))

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

I also feel sorry for the California Quail Adelbert...

I could use some of the enthusiasm of your Robin, Wallaby!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Beautiful pics of a very beautiful bird Wallaby! They look like you could just reach out and touch them on my computer screen.

Adel...Those poor puffy Quail...shall I send some birdseed for them? LOL!

Thank you Wallably and Pelle! :0)

Another Hawk flyover. One came down into the yard and when it left it was flying a few feet behind a blackbird...not sure how that turned out.

OK, the next two pics aren't birds, but still backyard visitors.

I just found the Bird Watching Forum yesterday and have been so impressed with all of these wonderful photo's! Just last week there must have been a hundred Robins in a tree in my neighbors back yard ... but, alas I did not get a picture! The minute I opened the door they all scattered, flying everywhere. I tried, I really did, but I am not great with the camera and when I downloaded them you couldn't see a bird! I even tried cropping but it was very fuzzy. I have a few feeders in the yard so maybe I will sit outside in the next day or so with my digital camera and try to get a good picture or two... meanwhile I will sit back and enjoy all your wonderful pictures!

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

Very good, wallaby1
. Great detail in the feathers.

Marlton, NJ

Hi Plantladylin! Welcome to the forum!

I usually sit outside and wait for the birds to come back . It can take some time but the more you do it the faster they'll come back.

Melbourne, FL

This backyard visitor was ID'd by Debnes and Resin as a Little Blue Heron. Thanks to you both for your help.

Thanks dellrose, kaperc and trois, it was lucky for me he didn't know I was there, I was only about 7 or 8 feet away.

Nice shots gardenpom, I like the hawk, sun showing up the wings nicely.

bonitin, if you take a daily walk weather permitting to look for birds, it will give you enthusiasm. I enjoy it and it surely brightens my day.

jo11, I have never seeen such a sweet looking sparrow!

One more for now, a row of Gulls in the field which was being ploughed.

There is a park I drive by on my way to work where there are always ducks on the water. I'm going to have to find time soon to get over there with a camera.

Plantladylin, I just saw you over in the Dave's Garden Party thread. I'm very frustrated with that whole thing, but it's nice to see you here in birding! I've just been here a few weeks, but I'm loving my new hobby!

Gardenpom, awesome hawk photo!

I saw an American Goldfinch today for only the second time, but didn't get a pic.

(Zone 1)

Good to be here in the birding forum! I have been a bird lover and bird watcher and bird feeder for many years ... now I just need to learn how to take pictures of them!

Yep, the Dave's Garden Party sounded like so much fun ... sad that it won't happen next year but maybe some day there will be a Nat'l DG type gardening get together and I will definitely attend!

Really loving everyone's photo's!

Saint Paul, MN

Linthicum, the pair of Eagles is fantastic! All of your photos are good.
