Tags feature for DG?

The browser I use is Google and in order for me to use bookmarks I must first create an account.

Google isn't a browser (unless they've got a new thing out that I'm not aware of, which is entirely possible) Google is a website, the browser is the software that lets you see the website. Google the website does have options where you can keep bookmarks and things, but if you don't want to sign up for an account with them, then you can use your browser instead. (only trouble with doing it through your browser is that if you use multiple computers, your bookmarks will only be on the computer you were using when you saved them)

If you look way up at the top of your screen, you should see some things that say File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help (the words may be slightly different depending on what browser you're using; the ones I listed are for Internet Explorer version 6). If you go to the one that says "favorites" (or maybe "bookmarks" or something else along those lines), you should see an option that says add to favorites. Clicking on that will add whatever page you're on to your favorites list.

I have another question. Are you going to announce that the Favorite feature is no longer active? There are quite a few people on here that have no idea that this is taking place and have not even heard about the new Tag feature. My good news is that I figured out how to save what I want to save!

That would be a question/suggestion for Dave. Possibly it can be done with an alert or dmail to each person that used the favorites feature.

I think a lot of people never even knew it existed. That that did use it will quickly see the new feature. Maybe a brief tutorial link for that page?

A tutorial with visuals would be a GREAT idea!! hint-hint...LOL

What about putting a permanent home on the homepage for a New Thing alert? When something new is added to DG or something existing is changed - the link to the announcement could show up - otherwise it would be "invisible". Maybe a little, animated bee for the new buzz. (OK - don't everyone groan in unison!)

I like that idea AYankeeCat, that way the people that are not on daily or that might miss something that was posted can see that a new feature is being added....and the buzzing bee would be great!!

I really like the idea of an animated buzzing bee. Would prefer to see it before a new feature or enhancement is added or implemented rather than after the new feature or enhancement has already occurred. I don't know if having had a buzzing bee this time around would have helped when Favorites was replaced with tags but it might have given people time to create work arounds or provided them with an opportunity to learn about it before it became reality.

Please help. I am not familiar with tags. Is there a way to see just my tagged pages? Under favorites, there is a list of pages etc I marked for myself, but under the tags tab, there are lots and lots of links. Is there a way to view just the ones I tag? I looked over the entries, but didn't see this, so hopefully, this question is not a repeat. Thanks!

Great Idea YankeeCat! I know I sometimes miss banners and things on the home page but if I saw a little bee flitting about (doesn't have to have an annoying buzzzz sound), just the little bee would catch my attention and I would know there was something new to check out! Love that idea! And, a little bee would be the perfect attention getter!

Click "My Info" on the menu bar under the banner to go to your member page.

On your member page, choose "View your tagged pages" in the box marked "Your Actions". This will take you directly to a 'cloud' with just the items you tagged.

I think there is an error now on the page for the general tag cloud. The bottom of that page used to have a link to view your tags. Now it has a link which says "Click here to view all tagged pages..." which, of course, takes you back to where you are. Isn't this an error?

Yep, you can go in circles with that link!

I access mine from My Info page.

I'm really enjoying this "Tag" feature! I've only saved three so far but will have more very soon I'm sure! It sure will make it easy to find something when I'm looking for it ... instead of having to scroll back through so many threads I can just go to "My Info" and easily find it!

Yes, if you try it from the My Tools tab, it takes you to all of the links, and I couldn't find a way to limit it there, which is what I had been trying. But if you go to the My Info link next to the Mail link, there is a link on that page for "View Your Tabbed Pages" -- I just tried that and it works!
