CLOSED: Second Chance Wishlist Swap #3

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

That works for me. Thanks.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

What is the limit-I'm at 43??

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

>>If you're getting close to your seed pack limit,

Limit?? we have a limit??

OH -- I see, 100 packs coming back to a person. gotcha.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

OHHHHH-no where near it then!!HE HE HE-YEAH AND WZ IS COMING!!!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Oh, wow, I HOPE I don't come anywhere near 100 packs coming back to me LOL. I'm trying to clean out...honest...I am! (somebody blindfold me when weez's are posted, pleez??)

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Weez always has good stuff. I can hardly wait, You piggy's back off and let me in thar. My turn to go oink, oink.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Grampapa -- I sent you a DMail earlier -- I had asked for:

NY aster 'Wood's Purple' w/chaff
cypress vine (ipomoea quamoclit)

are they still available?

Terese

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Terese, in all this madness, you must have missed my reply d-mail LOL. Yes, I have both marked for you :0)

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

thanks.

I .... think i'm DONE.

with totals of 28 coming to me,
14 packets promised, and a bunch of other extras going to Suzy for give a way.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

You don't get to be piggies the whole swap! LOL! Edited to say: Not really, and I didn't mean it to sound snotty. Somehow, I have to think of a way for the people who are sending in hoardes of seeds to get a look at her list, too, though. They aren't logging in as often, and keeping track as closely, and I'm afraid they're getting lost in the shuffle. There will be plenty. Maybe I should have everybody list their top two choices and then open it up. Any ideas on fair distribution are welcome, but I won't know anything until they get here!

The 100 packs will go by the wayside, I imagine. If people have over 100 packs already reserved, with more lists on the way, then what can I do? But here's the problem with that: I have no idea about postage! It seemed to me before that the postage is all over the map. The people on the coasts paid a lot more money than the midwesterners. I might have to hold your envie hostage until I get emergency Paypal money from some of you! If you don't want a huge postage bill, hold it to under 100 packs, and if you think the seeds are worth the extra $4.00, then go for it!

Ah, TCS, You're never done in one of my swaps -- it is never over!

Is your trade list still up to date? Are any of the things on your list good for butterflies? Maragaran, another who can't get her list out for a week, requests butterfly flowers. Can you fix her up a little baggie, please?

Did you look for your name on my seed list #2 post at the top? I htink I have one TTd for you.

And can you come over and organize my seeds for me?

Just kidding you,

Suzy

Thanks!

Suzy

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Suzy... She welcome and have some Dianthus addign to her pack for Carol too when she sees her.

Wind.. Got ya Apple of Peru

Will update my send out thread in a minute.

Added a few more.

Will have other stuf f coming over the next coupel of weeks in too that I know I won't use everthing and wil add some of them.

Will be busy a coule of days this week so if I mis s ya on this thread. Dmail me and wil get back with ya from there. : )

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Well that's really cool! I'm sure she'll love them!!! Thank you!

Needless to say, in Zone 3, there are certain seeds she can use, and certain ones she can't :)

(Cathy), MO

Am I wrong in thinking Sunrise, Twilight and the hybrid echinecea's won't come true to seed?

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

cat, that's true, but you never know what interesting plant you might get. it depends on whether you have patience and interest, or really want the original. you have to be prepared to toss the junk.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Cat, You're right -- I just want some Coneflowers that are slightly different in color than the purpurea or the purple one. I wanted a whole corner of them for the butterflies. I have Purple from Distantkin, purple from Seandor and Pink from Seandor. I'll add these and see what I can come up with in terms of some variety. Of course, after I see it, I might be happier with just the plain purple. LOL!

I would also like to see what you get from these seeds. I have heard very little about it except they don't come true or a lot of them are plain purple. I haven't seen anybody post all the details I want. :)

You know what else I want? Coneflowers with droopy petals!
I sound like an old grouch, but I want flowers to look like themselves. Well, sometimes :))

I will take some seeds from each pack and seal them back up and send them down to Margaran for the Florida Butterfly Heaven.

I like to look across at the area I am planting, and the flat plane of the traditional daisy shape doesn't show up as well as the droopy petals. Make sense?

Suzy

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Cat.. Grampaparight. That is how new cultivars are developed. I buy alot of seed from Sunrise and so far haven't had any problem. It depends on whether they doing the hybridizing or the bees.

There is always the chance of a wild gene or two show up even in most of the comemrcial mix, though that rate is alot lower .

Somebody asked for some Sunflower. Italian white. I knew I stil ha da few of them aroudn somewhere if that person wants them. Couldn't find the thread again. Can't find my brain half the time either. LOL

Soebody I think and could be wrong asked for Azalea seeds. I have a few left from a trade. They cam e of f Ben Morison if ya want to try. Need alot fo patience with tre e and shrub seed.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Suzy -- i've seen the droopy petaled ones in catalogs before... neat looking.

OH, and if i lived closer, i'd come help out... but a 3hr each way is too much for me to take.

I found this page http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consumer/factsheets/butterflies/butterfly_index.html attracting butterflies

that will take you here Nectar Flowers http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consumer/factsheets/butterflies/text/butfly_nectar-flowers.html

and out of this list.. i have [obvioulsy] 4-O'Clocks, cosmos, zinnias, bachelors buttons, scarlet milk weed, common milkweed, butterfly weed [blooms second year], coneflower [blooms second year] Gaillardia
and maybe a few more.

some things that i do have, i didnt list in my HAVE's because i got them in trade over the last summer and havent had a chance to sow any yet.

I did a search in both pages of this thread, and could not find any mention of Italian white sunflower. I used "Italian" as my search word, came up empty.

though i do have a few seeds myself... just havent sown any yet.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Starlight-I'm the one that wanted the azalea seeds-I want to hedge both sides of my yard with them...if you still ahve them would LOVE 'em!!

(Cathy), MO

Hmm...in that case, I would love any of the hybrid coneflower seeds to try. If one of them turns out to be something awesome, I can save that plant!

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

here my just now uppdated. Probably won't let me update anymore til tommorow.

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/editpost.php?pid=4368719

I hope I did that right, if not I am on January 6th at 6:03 am.

Fairy.. Ok wil add them for ya.

tcs. Thanks. maybe by the time we all get done in a coupel weeks whoevr looking for them wil stil have them on a wish list. I didn't answer at the time, cuz I couldn't find em and didn't want to say ya and then have to say Opps. Thanks for checking though.

Also, thought I saw somebody ask for Hydrangea seeds. I still have some left from 2006 if ya ant to give some a try. Foudn them too.

Then somebody aske d for the Pink Almond bush. I have several small shrubs but have never tried to collect seed from it. Remind in the late spring and I will se e if I can find them for ya. Afte r the get done blooming can try and root ya somecuttings if ya want.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

It was me again for both the almond bush (which I deleted thinking it was a long shot) and the Hydrangea Seratta-Lacecap. Will Dmail in the spring for almond bush if that's OK!!

(Cathy), MO

I've been trying to go back thru the thread and see who had the hybrid echinecea seeds. and can't find them. Anyone know offhand?

Orrville, OH(Zone 5b)

suzy- you have to separate the gold from the Peedee yourself, you can't expect me to do that for you [grin].
did you want two cerinthe major trades? If so, I have plenty of it. Everything else is tagged.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Sure thing Fairy.

Hope I have the right person.

Fraus... Do you still happen to have some Zina Giant Enchantress and Candy Cane left? If so, may I get some.

70 degrees today. Time to go play in the dirt and start clean up from artic cold. Rake leave s and plan new beds. Hurry up spring. : )

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Gram - Sorry, I didn't see your post when I posted, but yes! Gram and Cat were right, plus Gram has the best advice you'll get all day, maybe all year if you apply it to your clutter: Be prepared to toss the junk!!!!!

Starlight -- I'm happy to hear that about Sunrise. Very happy, since I'm getting seeds :)))

All (and Cat)-- And if seeds are in short supply, I will happily split up the packs and not send them to Margaran...where is that girl, anyway??? The butterflies are perfectly happy with plain purple! LOL Anybody got those? LOL! I know somebody has a boatload! Do you think 7 seeds each is enough? Or 10 seeds with fewer people sharing? I will be happy with 7. Six to kill and one to live. LOL!

TCS - Excellent! and you'll bag some up for her? Pretty please? They are for the butterflies, so she's looking for quantity, not quality. Well, you get my meaning...keep your seeds for yourself, and our midwestern butterflies. :)

Fairy! You got your azaleas!!!! and Hydrangeas!!! And Almond Bush!!!! That was fast! This would be an excellent time to dmail Star because she may or may not see your post.

Rachel wanted a lot of my sunflowers, I bet the Italian Whites were for her. Rache, If you see this, post here so I know you see it, but dmail Starlight so she knows who they are for.

Cat -- On the Coneflowers, if you get one that is awesome, you can name it after your kid or your best friend or your mailman (who brings you wonderful seeds). Make sure it is NOT a dog before you name it...I've seen that happen more than once! You are the only person in the whole wide world who will have that same, exact plant. (It's considered very bad form to name it for yourself, so at the turn of the century in England, they would name plants Mrs. Alec Whitestone III (or whatever) so they still got their name in it LOL!)

Cat - Toddle on up to Maozamom's list -- there are 2 or three left on there.

All - You *have* to be amazed that I can recall people's lists like this! Even *I* am amazed!

No doubt somebody or other posted while I was typing, I'll catch you on the short short. 60 degrees today! But I have ankle deep leaves to rake up. Wet Ones!

Suzy

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Suzy -- yes, i've already made a hand written list for when i venture back down into the kitchen, where my seed basket is.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Mao, She just needs one pack, but thanks for asking.-- tell everybody about it ...I know somebody reading this would like a cool reseeding annual that comes up very, very early and can take the cold and looks good with daffodisl -- hey! maybe that's enough!

Mao - What is Miss Willmotts Ghost. I know what it is, but Echinops ritro isn't it? Or is it?

Orrville, OH(Zone 5b)

Starlight- I have the zinnias, I'll tag them for you.

Orrville, OH(Zone 5b)

suzy- Echinops ritro is right

cat I'll d-mail you on the echinacea

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

I've just updated ... got all the ziploc baggies stuffed and ready to go .. now i just have to find that big bubble envie for shipping.

Suzy -- I did the "collection" for Maragaran -- there is 1 envie of "mystery seed" which i believe to be the coneflower .. take a peek at it, if it is... toss it in the bag for her. It could be the Black Eyed Susan that is considered a coneflower... .I just forgot to mark the baggie when i was out pilfering neighbors flower beds.

AND -- if you DO NOT want 21 baggies of 4-O'Clocks, I can just do a post for Free Seeds for SASE and send you how ever few you want.

Here's the link to my "finished" post. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=4366096

Terese

Uggg, edited to add the forgotten link.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

cat64...I had some coneflowers...Ruby Giant and Twilight. I took them off the list, but if I split the packs a litlle thinner you can have some of both. I think there will still be plenty.

(Cathy), MO

Thanks! I would love to try them
