The one thing man has absolutely no control over...the weather.
Play hookey, and tropical gardening in the greenhouse!2
Yes pepper storm has been here for several hours now, what ever it hits covers with ice, lines must be heavy the tv has blinked several times,if I lose cable,I also loose internet!
Christi...weather and cancer!
If we loose power, the greenhouse is where we will have to go!!!
The gas furnace uses electricity to light the fire, one of those new ones that doesn't have a pilot light!!!
Greenhouse all have vent free gas heaters,no need for electricity.
Have a propane gas stove to cook on,so it won't be too bad, happened couple years back for a few days, trees were down everywhere, and a big one on my roof
Had to have that tree cut down,it lost huge limbs, branches were everywhere, just missed the greenhouse by a couple feet!!!
Glad to hear your weather has gone back to normal, where expecting at least 2 more days before this front moves to the east!
Pepper, TM, Take care of yourselves and your families. We will keep you in our prayers! Praying for your safety!!!!!
Jeanne
I bet you love staying in there it sounds cosy ...did I ever tell you that when I first moved here there was a 100ft greenhouse all set up, sadly the first month after we moved in the awful winds tore all the coverings to shreds ...I only have the naked frame now ...sometimes I dream of putting it back together again but hubby is too busy and it could be ripped away again ...such a shame it looks so lonely.
Your greenhouse sounds so enviting, I forgot to say before re the fireworks fire , yes it was a beauty ...don't know if it will effect New Years Eve on the Sydney harbour yet or not.The fireworks people have been feuding for years ...they found a body so I guess it was the culprit ...time will tell.It is big business Australia does most of the big Fireworks all over the World.
So sorry to hear of the foul weather you guys are getting, please don't go out unless it's absolutely necessary. This is one of the reasons we left Mass and NH so many moons ago! Keep warm and safe.
Aloha
Didn't hear they found a body!!
Yes we see your fireworks before we see ours!!!
BH,were all tuckered down for the long haul, hopefully it will be over soon, and winter hasn't even begun yet!!!!LOL
Crossing arms...pouting! Just be glad you don't have us as neighbours! You'd be having us over, often!!
Cruel, cruel friend!!! Save the carrots for me, and the potatoes.....
Kel says he could smell it from over here!!!
I never thought of doing leftovers on the grill. Sounds good there. To cut on carbs, we use pita bread!
I know, everything in moderation. But we love to eat, so we sub alot!!
I like Pita Bread...is it that much lower on the carbs? Works for me!
Love meatloaft Tropicman. Looks like DS roast the other night.....meat and lots of carrots and taters! Yum Yum!
We did Quiznos' tonight. Busy day and didn't feel like cooking! It was great! Black Angus steak on Rosemary bread with Honey bourbon sauce, onions, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and TOAS-TY!!!!! MMMMM Good!
Love the chilli at Quizno's. Kel's fav. the Angus too!
Heaven,look how ,T77 spelled toasty!!!
I think she had a tad bit too much Honey bourbon sauce!!!! LOL
Tman, it's you that has been swigging the sauce :P She meant the toasted rosemary bread!! Right Sis ;)
Now lets not bring Rosemary into this,The Clooneys were big drinkers you know!!!LOL
Oooh...I love Rosemary Clooney...come on over my house!!! Too bad the new torch singers ain't like the old ones!
Nite now Tman...stay away from those strange plants!
I only make my own ropes with it!!!!LOL
I love those toasty sandwiches, but here in TX, you have to draw it out.....and they are Toast----TEE, any way you spell it! Right Sis? They are the best! Even their chicken is gooooood!!!!!! I like their clam chowder also! Their Chilli is good, too!
We love Quiznos! Plus they are so reasonable! MMMMMMM Good!
Gonna call it a night folks! See y'all on the flip side! Have a good night's sleep and sweet dreams to all!!!!!!!!
And back to gardening......I have the prettiest little Light pink Hibiscus in bloom today. It is one of those that I got from Lowes for a dollar awhile back! It is so beautiful! Took it's picture, but haven't uploaded them to the puter yet.
Happy Gardening!
We have a quiznos, but never ate there, wife has,but just not cup of tea!
I like the subways!
But then again I like making my own too!
Nite girls!
Thinking of you all this morning, hoping you are all okay with all the ice storms around. Check in when you have time (and power).
Lucky here so far, no bad storms nor ice...yet....
Just have to water the plants out there!! It's been a July weather in December for the past week!!
28* very cloudy bitterly cold!!!!
Winter wonderland of ice, tomorrow will be a great day, expected to get to 38*
Have to water today also, just about a full day of it too!
See on the news that a million people are without power this morning - just awful. I feel bad about complaining about our three day power loss, we didn't have freezing conditions to put up with at the same time.
Also see that a tropical storm has hit in the Caribbean, I think it's south of John, hope all you folks in that area of the world are okay...
Thinking good thoughts for you all
Goodness, the weather is upset worldwide. Got an email from DIL this morning from Tulsa and their power is back on. Don't know how big an area that covered. Jennie, loosing power wherever you are is not an easy thing to deal with these days. Especially since it effects the water supply almost immediately.
I, for one, would never, ever want to live in the "good ole days". We have been going from ac to heat to ac and back again for the last 4-5 days. Temperature extremes of 60 degrees from one day to the next. Raining again today. That is never a bad thing here. The weather forecasters are at a loss to explain the whys. Now that a little time has passed, other than the papayas and pipes being washed up, did you have other damage?
We are just fine, the news makes our flooding look so insignificant...most of our damage has been cleared up now, although crews are still clearing the debris from the parks and all theKamaole beaches are still closed. The beaches are making a come back very quickly with the sand being redeposited twice a day with the tides. The folks up in Kula have finally got their power and water back on, the worst area hit was the Hawaiian Homesteads. It's going to be a while before the ground up there is cleaned up, they had so much vegetative debris washed down the mountain and some of the homes were badly damaged.
Ground at my house is still soping wet even with our good drainage. Just shows how much water there was. We have a beach clean up scheduled for this weekend if it is considered safe enough for us to be there.
Saw on the other thread RJ's suggestion for a get together in Hawaii, great idea RJ!
Optimist he is. Don't doubt that I will be raring to go again. The excitement is rising...
Hiya Dahlins Jennie and Christi!!
Hawaii sounds grand.....it's been decades since I'd been there. RJ...I am suspicious of your "green thumb" charm! I truly believe you 'voodoo' them...learning that in Liberia :D
Don, leftover meatloaf today?
BTW, Chrissy, how's your Aunt Maria's garden?
Catch all of you later! Off to pick up some seeds for these lost birds...
LOL!Maybe in a day or two!!
Still raining here ...and black outs etc, but we are ok, I have my brother staying at the moment and I can't get onto the computer as he is sight impaired and needs help getting around, but I see everything is still the same, food and weather! ha ha ha you won't believe what I made for him (his favourite) meat loaf ha ha ha and meatloaf sangers today for his lunch (leftovers by request)
I don't recognise a lot of the dishes you are talking about ...as we don't eat out ...hubby like home cooking.
But wraps are the way to go 77
Rosemary Clooney ... did she do the Little Green man? or was that Pattie Page?
Take care everyone I will pop back when I can :)
chrissy
