How pretty Jeanne! Just the right touch for starting my day!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Thank you! Have a great day! If you get a chance, stop by my Garden Blog / Diary. I posted some pictures of my Mom's Ceramic Dolls she sculpted in the 1990's. Have a good one.....

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Sounds like your summer is paralleling ours..lots of rain.
We've gone from frost to mosquitos..the weather is driving me crazy.

The strange weather seems to be everywhere ...#@&*^% mozzies!
I have never seen so many in my life! those lazy little frogs of mine must be very full!,the shark warning for the rest of the Summer season is a bit scary, a poor bloke yesterday lost a large portion of his butt ...but got away with his life, a lot of nibbling going on as the sharks just love this type of weather. It seems that this big wet stirs up a lot of the critters like it stirs us up! the ticks, snakes and spiders are all on the attack so far not too many deaths but a lot of victims. So I have to wear the dreaded gumboots now ...Shari pass me a rumball :) do you do the rum soaked dates in dark chocolate?
here pass them around! (wish I could) I will pop in to look at your dolls later tonight 77 they sound great! bye for now everyone, don't drink too much egg nog!

Jeanne, your mom's dolls are works of art, they are incredible! Not only are the faces wonderful but check out the detail on the hands! Making the dolls must have been pure pleasure for your mom because I can't imagine how many hours she must have put into creating just one of her babies. How wonderful and unique to have such a lovely collection, your mom left a beautiful legacy...
Jen

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

THANK YOU, Jen!!!! How sweet!

They are very special to all of us! We love them! My oldest granddaughter was staying over one night and she looked all around at the dollls and said, "I just love this room and all of the dolls!" Mom thoroughly enjoyed making them! It is a wonderfull legacy!!!! Thanks again!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Chrissy....I hear you about The Wet!!! The mozzies are horrendous! Everything is soggy...especially me! 3cms of rain last night....12 the night before. The earth (what little there is on top of lava) is saturated...outdoor chores on hold and the weeds are growing with abandon!!!! Yes...3 months of this is enough!!!! Have seen the sun for a total of 23.7 mins this month!

UP PERISCOPE!!!!!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Carol, that is what we were talking about in Texas this spring/summer. Killed everything I had that was supposed to be for here because it required little water. The hollyhock blooms were slimey..yuck.

Yes the grass is starting to get that sickly yellowish tinge that says "help we can't breathe" ...and I am starting to worry a little about things ripening without sun.Just the same as I said before, fires are worse and the milder temps are most enjoyable compared to the usual "fry an egg on the bonnet" type of heat ... ha ha ha the big fat grubs and the big fat bugs are just loving it! holes in almost every leaf ...never mind whatever the weather it's Christmas time ...lots of love in the air as we all come together,
that is what it means to me L O V E ...
never mind the weather so long as we're together ...
sending hugs to you all!
PS 77 beautiful dolls! how wonderful.

Jeanne - adore the dolls - such exquisite detail! Beautiful!

Carol, the sun you got must have been while we were there, cuz it was so gorgeous walking through and around your property! I intend to post a bunch of pics, but probably on a new thread...this is getting a bit longish. Is it okay to post em?

Rum balls on the way ladies and gents, or would you prefer an amaretto one? Make em both. Dont do dates Chrissy - ick. But those sound like my Mom would adore em! Do like the dark chocolate bit...bride just brought us some peppermint bark that one of her students made her...layer of dark, layer of white, layer of crushed candy canes! Soooo sweet, but yummy!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

All sounds good! You can post the pictures here! It's OK!!!!!

Thanks for all of the compliments on the dolls!!!!! We love them!

Chrissy, Carol, Christi's right....boy did we go thru that this summer. I was just waiting for "directions From Above to build an Ark"!!!!!!! It was terrible. Hope y'all dry out soon!

My energy is just about D R A I N E D with all of this shopping and running errands! Probably will go to bed early tonight!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I hear ya Jeanne,
It's been a mad house here at work, think it might be a banner travel year.. working overtime again this weekend..

Wayne from Zone9 is headed to HNL tomorrow.., I'll be holding down the fort. Shall I tell him to bring a jacket?

I'll do a Sun dance Chrissy, Carol, Jenny...!

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

For me the rain was warm, but he may need a snorkel for the car!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah..I'm having coffee with him tomorrow morning...how long do you think I'll last before I try and "rain" on his parade? Oh, Wayne...you know it's been raining there for a month now dontcha!? But at last, his answer would be my answer...who cares, theres plants and botanical gardens..and it's warm rain...

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Hip,Hip, Hooray!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Randy, don't work toooo hard! Do take care of yourself! I plan to get some rest, right after Sat. Everyone will be here, then Sun....REST!!!!!! Yeah!

Are you working Tues, also?

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Just hate it. Now that everyone is here and ready for a party, I'm ready to retire for the night. My grandson who has lived with us for the last 6 months moved into his own abode today. It was an amiable thing and we are all in agreement that it is good. After cleaning his room....well, enough said. I am exhausted.

(could have grown a garden under the bed...)

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

night, night.

Just turn the lights off when you come in.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Night Christi!!!!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes..I am working on tuesday...my holiday will start when this is all over...someone needs to work behind the scenes so the others can have a good holiday..
hip hip hooray Saint Randy...NOT>..heheh..sounded good though...
I will start vacation Jan 6th when all this rat race has subsided...

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Gee Christi - you sounded just like Carol...that is exactly what she said the night we spent there!

Night, night sweetie! Pleasant dreams!

"and I wonder ... still I wonder who'll stop the rain ...la la la"
yup still raining!
sleep the sleep of exhaustion everyone ...Christmas is nigh!
Rest will come soon ...so will the leftovers!
chrissy

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Amazing!!! Today dawned bright and beautiful!!! Promise of sun all day...drying everything out! I kept waking up all night wondering where the rain was - sounding like a herd of buffalo running over the roof - and what was wrong!!! SO much to do I am in a panic!!!! Last houseguest left last night and I just want to sit around an vege...but must do a million chores in the gh and on the property. There is no way to even take the small cart out as the 3" of topsoil/lawn are so saturated there would be MUD! Fans will go on mixing the dry air with the saturated air in the house!!!

Glory Be!!! Chrissy, there IS hope!!! Hang in there, Mate!

Carol

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

So glad you are drying out Carol, amazing to have all that rain when you are so close to us, we have had sun since the "big storm". Hate it when every thing feels damp, even the bed sheets!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Thanks, Jenny...it is SO wet here! When I have some extra time I will take all the sheets and towels and run them thru the dryer...they get so musty!!! Cool here...cold last night... Well, off I go.... Can't decide whether to do everthing I left undone or start new chores I couldn't start when I should have! OH, the dilemas of life!

Calm down ...nothing needs to be perfect,it's Christmas time and it all always works out ...every year there is panic at the last minute it is part of the deal, your guests will be coming to visit their mates and won't care about mud and mildew *smiling in sympathy* they are coming to see you! ...chill out ... laugh at life's little absurdities, what the heck ...this too shall pass and Christmas will be Christmas no matter what.
here have a rum date mate! ...still raining here ...at least we didn't get the Earthquake like NZ has just had! 6.8.
I mentioned on the other thread ...the ants are missing, I don't think they have drowned so what's up with that?,anyone else have missing ants? (I don't mean the snowbound folk)
stay safe and calm down ...deep breathes :)
chrissy

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

OOOOOOH..dear. Where was the earthquake, Chrissy...haven't heard about that yet. Do you know where it was centered????

Carol

HAHA...edited to say that I have no worries about the house...it is the garden that has gone neglected for so long. Heck...the dog hair on the floor makes the tile look like a rug!!!! Today foliar fed everyone...tomorrow a killing spree on weeds if I am lucky!!

Your "garden" loves you friend Carol, or it would not be so breathtaking. So, whatever you do, they will continue to love you and be beautiful for you. No one...I repeat NO ONE, will benefit if you wear yourself out by trying to do too much. So pace yourself...as I said to another dear friend recently...it will be still be there tomorrow. Hope you saw my post on the storm thread. I feel terrible that I didn't even KNOW about all this chaos until yesterday!!! What a slug I am!

Yokwe to all my furry friends as well! Thelma, Louise, Braveheart, Candy and of course Pooter!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Seems we are all in the "same boat". I have procrastinated until here it is hours until Christmas and I just went to shop in earnest today. What with Aaron moving yesterday I do believe if anyone came to my door tonight I would go to the back and pretend no one was here. I spent a great deal of time at Barnes and Noble as I really like books. Purchased several for my grand-nephews who are 3 and 5...that was fun. Two by Shel Silverstein for the older one and 3 Dr. Seuss for the younger. I still read them myself. I looked and looked and looked and wound up buying 9 gift cards to B&N. Now that was not truly the cowards way out. Books are so personal and I know their interests but they are all like me...all over the map. They will be happy.
Found a statue of St. Christopher which must be in every garden. My friend has a newish home (3 years) and the garden has languished for lack of St. C.
Were I wealthy in dollars I would send each and everyone of you a fantastic gift. I am wealthy in all the ways that count. All of you are my blessings and it makes me tear up to think how wonderful it is to *see* you everyday. I pray each of you will enjoy these next days in the spirit in which they began. May the New Year bring peace and contentment to everyone. With the tenderest heart...I love all of you.

Christi

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

HaHa...a dear friend just sent me this:

"Just put on your 'big girl' panties and get over it!!"...Motto for 2008. I love it!!!

Actually, took it easy and got a lot accomplished! Sigh. Christi...thank you. You certainly have a beautiful way to express what I, too, feel.

C

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL...I like that saying...

Books are always a winner Christi.....
You ARE a Christmas gift Christi...

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

I agree Randy! I have several "gifts" this year that are certainly not under my tree...they are miles away and yet right here in my heart. Here are a couple that I found while wandering around the Big Island...actually I was wandering around their property!! Here are Carol and Bob by the bamboo:

I have a friend that has been telling me that for a long time, Carol. I can't seem to find my "big girl panties". I like being a child. heheheh

Thank you, Randy. You make me feel like I'm not so over the hill.

Wonderful picture, Shari. Eventually, we will all be together.

Go to "VOLUNTEERS FOR CONFERENCE".

Yayaayayayayay! Are we not the best??? We most definitely are!!!!

2009, Here we come! Or maybe before?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Great picture!

Christi, there is nothing old about you...and I mean nothing. Why we look like brother and sister in the pictures! You know..there are a few pictures of us...we look we're always plotting something..hahaa...

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, Randy. What a wonderful compliment. Not long before bedtime. Now that is a real sign that I'm older. Could stay up till sunup in younger years. No more.

Good night Moon.

Christi

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

OOOOOOh, Sheri...nice photo.

Christi...it is the days in your heart not the years on your passport!!!!

Last I looked I was 4.

Nighty night...turn off the lights when you come in.

Based on our time differences, there are always welcoming lights on somewhere! Candles in the window, dontcha know!

The walk around Carol's property was filled with the most glorious plants! We took a gazillion pictures, but most of them will be dependent upon her to identify! Ha, ha! Should have had the video going so I could record what they were, but then I wouldn't have the stills to show you!

Neat! The palm is Salaca (Salacca?) magnifica, in front different brugmansias and in the distance dracaena and Ti (That tree in the far right is one that blew down!!!)

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Thank you Carol! I will post more on a different thread, and probably in a couple of days. It is Christmas Eve here, and I am wishing you all warmest wishes...see you sometime tomorrow!

Love and hugs to you all!
