How about if you took out Some of the peanuts and mixed in some boss and sunflower seeds?
Show Us Your Feeders Vol. 4
Here's a fiesty little wren.
He's been around all summer, and I've had the funnest time watching him sing and dance, and climb upside down the fence. Anyway, this quick and easy suet feeder has been up a month, and I've finally seen him feeding from it.
The corn is for a squirrel that climbs the fence when we're not looking.
The pumpkin is for cardinals. They love the seeds.

Very nice pic Paul !
I love the Carolina Wrens; they are such great little characters!
Nanny,
I've not ordered from Best Nest. Would like to see more positives on their rating http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/2640/
I like some things they offer, but just kind of hesitant ordering.
Paul,
I love Carolina Wrens! They're adorable, cute, sing pretty and are a fun little bird! Great pic and great setup!
Thanks pelletory and Marilynbeth,
I was SO excited to see a wren pair stick around this Summer.
They checked out my little flower garden and went in, and out, and up and down, and inside and all around.
I'm trying to figure out how better to attract them to help encourage them to stay.
I've built a nest box, and I've seen them check it out, but its still vacant.
I hear them singing all around my house, in the neighbors trees.
If that's all I get, then it's still worth it. They are competing with my Mockingbirds, as far as their singing goes.
Here's another bird feeder that I had early this Summer.
Sunflower's are such great plants.
Ya'll have a good weekend.
Those with snow, well..... sorry.
I hope you are not without power.
Looking forward to warmer days, but I'm afraid we're just getting started.
Paul
Another wonderful pic Paul, the pine(?) in the background makes the
male House Finch pop.
nanny, Heres one of them on e bay.

I've never seen or heard of these feeders before.
Best Nest has a very poor rating on the Garden Watchdog; I would not order from them at all until their rating improves greatly.
Paul..great pics! I have one Carolina Wren that shows up from time to time...they are so adorable. I planted sunflowers this year also and was amazed at the number of birds that showed up! It was fun to watch them hanging upside down going for the seed.
Pelle, that is a good idea on changing the feed in that feeder. They have eaten about a fourth out of the NoNo feeder.
No I won't use that particular company.
Sharpie?
pford - I like how you have set up the suet feeders on the fence. We have a fence like that so now you've got me thinking about how to expand the feeding areas.
Thanks pelletory, dellrose, and original_sybil,
Here's a close-up shot of the feeder. I made it real quick with five little pieces of wood that I cut from the same board.
I simply put a cardboard backing behind.....I put a thin piece of wood inside to cause the suet block to sit close up front...I then cut a piece of hardware cloth from a roll that I bought at Lowes, way outside in the garden center....and stapled the mesh to the front. Whenever I need to change the suet block, I pry the staples out and replace. For it to sit on the fence, I screwed an angle bracket to the bottom piece of wood, and it just slips between the fence board and the 2x4 - just sits up there for easy removal. I've made two feeders so far, but will make more for christmas gifts.
Paul
Looks like a Coopers to me Dave but if I'm wrong than it can only be a
Sharp-shinned.
Beautiful shot Dave!
Very nice dellrose; yes they love the peanuts!
dellrose - thanks for those great pics -- everyone included in that also.
My main reason was to attract some little downy around the neighborhood, but I haven't seen any woodpeckers on them yet.
One cool thing. The other night it was raining pretty good, and I walked out my front door, and stopped immediately. It was a hoot owl, next door in the tree. Then another across the street, and then another on the other side of me. I believe I had up to four hoot owls (don't know which kind - I guess most owls hoot - huh?) And it was dark and rainy. We did see one in a bare tree, or actually saw it's large eyes, and it was turning it's head all around.
Pretty cool
Love the pics of the finches.
Paul
I love the Downey's also. Wow..4 owls! I've only seen 3 in 26 years since living in SW Mo..although I do hear them at night during good weather. I walked out on my front porch today and saw the little Carolina Wren that I've been stalking!! I threw some food out there and a little saucer of water. Hope it comes back..I just love it.
Here are a couple of finches sharing or fighting over some BOSS! I usually have Purple but these are smaller so perhaps House?
Love that little GF that looks like he is hopping!
Very nice pics dellrose!
It looks like Purple Finch in the first pic.
Mostly Purple Finches, but the one "on top of the treat block!" is a female House Finch, and the one "Under the feeding table!" is a male House Finch
Resin
Thanks for your comments Pelle and Nanny, and thanks for the ID Pelle and Resin. Just when I think I can tell the House and Purple apart I get confused again! (normal for Moi)
Great pics everyone! ;-)
Did not take them long to try it Marilyn; nice pics!
At this one,so far, I've seen Blue Jays, Chicadees, Pine Grosbeak, Juncos, WP, Sisken, Redpoll. and either house finch or purple finch.
Pelle and Rose, thanks!
Rose and Burn, nice shot and pic!
