Here's a close-up shot of the feeder. I made it real quick with five little pieces of wood that I cut from the same board.
I simply put a cardboard backing behind.....I put a thin piece of wood inside to cause the suet block to sit close up front...I then cut a piece of hardware cloth from a roll that I bought at Lowes, way outside in the garden center....and stapled the mesh to the front. Whenever I need to change the suet block, I pry the staples out and replace. For it to sit on the fence, I screwed an angle bracket to the bottom piece of wood, and it just slips between the fence board and the 2x4 - just sits up there for easy removal. I've made two feeders so far, but will make more for christmas gifts.
