Wow how cool to stop in at this time... my eyes are almost closed...LOL I think I would like the seeds... Are they kinda easy and could someone give me hints on how to grow? I am getting two new bio domes for xmas from my youngest son Mike.... He got me the Big 80 cell ones... I can't wait... So seeds would be nice... Who do I send the postage to?
Hugs, To all as I am off to bed... Will there be a Jan bingo? If so I will donate a prize.....
Susan
Happy Holidays AV BINGO the game continues!
No postage will be necessary! Dawna (Ccino42) will send out your seeds after the holidays. Congratulations!
WOOOOOO HOOOOOO I won something... Yeah...........
Susan
LOL Congratulations to Susan51! Been off line all day sp just catching up.
Susan - what are you doing still up?? Aren't you ahead of us timewise?
This has me really confused?!
For some reason I can't sleep... There has been so much going on and runing that I already took my sleeping pills at 11 and I still can't sleep....
My time here is 2:09am as I type.... I will pay for this tomorrow.. I don't have allot of running to do so I will more then likely take a nap..
I also think it is running in my head about the Bio Domes my son got me for Christmas ... Like what am I going to plant in them, will I be able to grow things??? Just my stupid head playing games.... Also has been a hard two weeks at work so my body is also paying for that... Hey I am off for the next 12 so I am really happy... I can play on the puter and visit my new GD Lydia :-)
Ok looking at petsmart on line to see what I can get my 4 legged babies for xmas... As they had to wait until after the two legged babies got there things...LOL
This is so bad I was in a swap that I have no idea I signed up for... I got the box on a Friday and it went out on Tuesday I just retaped it and took a little package of stickers and a little pencil and pad... I still can't find out when or where I signed up for it..LOL
Ok this time for real I will chat more tomorrow...
Hugs,
Susan
I'm WICKED confused too!
Am I the biggest loser 2?
I still had 1 call on my card not called and #18 was the first call I DID have?
If I am the biggest loser #2........Bingo! *lol*
This has been SO much fun!
Edited to add..........I hope I'm the slowest starter *lol*

Susan,
You sound SO excited about trying seeds! I too am trying seeds for the first time! It is SO MUCH fun!
I have some seeds on my Streptocarpus Party Boy (which I so proudly pollinated myself) ripening right now :)
In a few weeks they should be mature enough to harvest. Would you like to try some of them? I have heard that fantasy streps don't come true from seed or leaf cuttings so I have no idea what they will look like but I plan to start a few myself just to see as I love surprises! If you like surprises and the fun of growing from seed, I would be happy to share some with you :)
Jill, I wanted to say that I am SO happy you are getting the Victorian Lady as your decor sounds as though it will match her to a T! I wanted her to go to someone who wanted her and not someone who ended up with her because there were no other prizes *lol*
I am SO happy to report that because of everyone's generosity here on the AV forum, I have baby streps from the leaves my friends sent to me in October that I removed from the mom leaves yesterday and put into their own little "apartments" to get bigger and stronger. HOPEFULLY this will give me some trading plantage for the spring! I know most of them are probably ones everyone already has *lol* but maybe I will have enough to do a couple trades come spring.
I am having SO MUCH fun with my plant stand and my babies this winter that it doesn't seem like winter sometimes. I get lost in my plant stand for hours on end and forget about posting and taking pictures etc. I'm hoping that after the holidays I can relax a little and do some "catching up". Maybe by that time my babies will have grown big enough to have their pictures taken :)
Update on the smoking thing.......tried REAL hard on the Commit but couldn't do it. Made it almost a month but was totally miserable. Went to pick up my prescription for Chantix and will start that on Monday. Found out the Chantix actually ends up being cheaper for me than the Commit! Have heard REALLY great things about it so I am still determined!
Hope you all have a VERY Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! From Maine to all of my friends here
((((( HUGS )))))
Kim
Kim, I am so proud of your determination to quit smoking -- I know you can do it! I have heard wonderful things about the Chantix program. A friend's husband recently started on it... he asked her if they could afford it, and she pointed out that if he stopped buying cigarettes for even a couple months it would pay for itself. She said he wasn't in the mood to hear about all the rest of the cost/benefit analysis of having him quit smoking, LOL.
So, I'm sure everybody has been checking back... did anybody have to wait as long as Kim to get a call on their card? (Her first one was 18. Ness' Cranberry Lace.) I know Lin won't be able to stand keeping us in suspense much longer, and then she'll let us know who the winner of the "Slowest Starter" Merry Christmas plant from Bluebird's is!
By the way, the person donating the plant from Bluebird's says the winner can pick a single plant, or, if they'd prefer, they can just spend $10 on whatever combination of plants/leaves/etc. suits them... and the prize donor will cover the cost of shipping (with heat pack) to the destination. I think they want to remain anonymous, so the ordering might end up just going through me... but I love playing "Santa's Elf," so that'll be fine! :-)
I'm sorry for the confusion... We have not 2, but 3 prizes left because somebody donated an extra at the end. The extra prize is now our "Slowest Starter" prize (see post 5315525), and the other 2 prizes go to the "biggest losers" who need both of the 2 remaining calls. Susan is one of them, and she has chosen the Chirita tamiana seeds (from Ccino42) as her prize.
I still have one on my card and I was sure it would be called. THis has been a real fun game as usual. I hope every one has a wonderful Christmas. Critter I hope your mother continues to grow stronger everyday. Elaine
So, Jill, to further clarify things...there will be no more calls? Correct? All is done and accounted for? LOL
I am so happy for this is the really first time I got to play Bingo when I signed up... I also want to thank Diane for helping me with my card when the baby was being born... I will have more pictures of Lydia very soon to show....
Kim, I would love some seeds.... I will have some really pretty snapdragon seeds after Christmas to share with you if you would like some of them also I don't know if you ever grew them but I still have a few more seeds of the passion flowers so if you want some let me know and after the holiday I will send....
This year has been really trying in allot of ways for us but I have to say it could not have ended any better with the birth of our new GD :-) Joe does not have that dreaded MRSA anymore thank God and all his sores from that have gone... He was tested a total of 3 extra times for it and all were negative... What a blessing that also was.... Also all my children will be around for the holidays....
I got my Christmas bonus from work yesterday and put most in the bank but kept out 100 for Kevin and 200 for me... Hey is only fair was my check...LOLOLOL I am saving my money for things to buy for my plants...LOL what else huh?????
Have to pay some bills and run around a little then I will be back later... I have missed you all so much....
Hugs,
Susan
Oh Sorry Kim, How do you take away from there mother and at what stage? Any pictures would be of help to me as I do better seeing then reading with things like this...
Hugs,
Susan
Susan,
I didn't think there were going to be more prizes so didn't watch as close as I should. I am glad you were able to be here to check.
CONFIRMED KIMSKREATIONS is winner of the "SLOWEST STARTER" prize! Congratulations Kim!
It took her awhile to get going in this game ... she did not have one on her card until #18 Ness' Cranberry Lace was called.
There's still another BIGGEST LOSER out there! So, one prize left - a box of AV leaves! I know a lot of folks who would love that one - lots of new babies to grow ... A GREAT prize ... now, we just need our next biggest loser to come forward and claim their prize.
I guess if that person doesn't speak up I could put all the remaining cards in a box and pull out the winner like we've done in the past ... will wait and see if she responds.
Makshi: I guess since it's Christmas and this is the Holiday Bingo Game, the last one was a Christmas Surprise from Santa! I think I remember another bingo game awhile back with a prize for the slowest starter.
So we are looking for the next slowest starter?
OMG Lin are you SERIOUS?
Whoever donated the "slowest starter" prize...........I want to THANK YOU WITH ALL MY HEART! What a WONDERFUL idea.
It was funny....Jill would call and call and call and I would say........were those even one's I could have chosen *lol* as I didn't have anything on my card for days *lol* Thought maybe I had a different list or something *lol*
I was just sent home from work with the flu and am just now brewing a pot of coffee for myself. I have hubby's flannel pants on, a sweatshirt and am wrapped in my favorite blankie and am FREEZING. Yep, momma's coming down with the flu I think so this will be a WONDERFUL way to spend the morning. I am also thinking that I can post some pictures today! Yesterday I stayed home and waited on my sick husband and kids so today is ME ME ME day! I have SO MUCH I want to post etc. and have just been trying to find the right day. This is it I think :)
I NEVER win anything so to win the slowest starter prize is a REAL TREAT for me! I am SO tickled! I have never ordered from Bluebird's either so this will be alot of fun!
Jill, as promised your lady was mailed this morning.
Lin, a box should also show up in your mail soon ;)
If I haven't said it often enough.........you ladies are truly the very besssst and I feel so welcome here. It's one of the few forums I even check anymore. I'm glad I found you all.
Off to shop.........then I will post some pictures :)
Kimber
Nope ... the next biggest loser. There were two ladies who still needed more than one call. Whoever has the most left on their cards are considered the biggest losers. So, there's one more lady out there who still needed more than one to win the game. I have not seen her post since the game began so I don't know if she's even been playing her card! I guess we will let Critter make the decision as to a time frame - how long we should give the lady to post if she is "watching".
Critter: What do you think? Want to give a deadline for that last person to post for winning the last biggest loser prize of the box of leaves? Then I could put all the remaining names in a hat and let my hubby draw out the final winner?
Makshi, the neat thing about the way the "Slowest Starter" and "Biggest Loser" prizes worked out at the end of this game is that it wasn't necessary to watch super closely...
Kim, congratulations!! See, and I'll bet you were so bummed when it was taking forever to get that first call on your card... now it's won you a lovely plant from Bluebird Greenhouse! That'll brighten up your winter!
I thought we were all done figuring out the prizes, but...
Lin tells me that our final "biggest loser" winner is Lilac58, who lives in Canada. Between postage costs and customs regulations, sending leaves to Canada is probably not a possibility in any season -- in December, it's just not going to happen. I'm sorry, Lilac. If you send me a Dmail next month when I've hauled my seed out for sorting/packing/trading, I'll see if I can find you something fun... it won't be gesnariad seeds, but I'll bet I can find something in my stash that you can use!
I was mulling over a variety of alternative schemes for awarding our final leaf box prize... but I think I like the simplicity of Lin's idea! Lin, if you would, please put into a hat the name of every player who 1. lives in the US and 2. hasn't won a prize in this Bingo game. If the person whose name she pulls out lives somewhere too cold to try to send leaves at this time of year, it's up to Elaine -- she can opt to send a box when the weather permits, or Lin can pull another name from the hat.
This has been such a fun game to run, with all the friendly chatter and the generous prizes... there's a lot of holiday spirit in this forum, all year round! :-)
sorry -- I had a couple of phone calls while typing, so there were a couple more posts before I got the above posted... hope it's still reasonably clear!
LOL Kim! I am really laughing out loud here! You were sent home with the flu? You sure don't sound like you are under the weather little lady! :) Going Shopping ... and playing on the computer and playing with plants! hee hee ... sounds like a new flu strain is flying around, huh? Love it!
Ok, I just realized you probably meant off to shop on-line! LOL. Seriously, you take care of yourself and don't let that awful flu bug take control. Stay warm and toasty ... drink some hot tea ... plenty of fluids and rest, rest, rest!
Can't wait to see your photo's ... oh yeah, and please tell us all what you choose as your Slow Starter gift from Bluebirds! I have ordered from there a few times and always been happy with the plants they send!
Ok, I'm off to do some last minute shopping! I will check back in later to see where we stand with the last prize.
Have a great day everyone! ... but before I forget:
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Diane!
Okie Dokie.....shopped and shopped and picked my 2 favorites :)
I promised I wasn't going to do any African Violets..........but........well...........there is a semi mini fantasy that I found that I think is too cute :)
I picked:
Nemantanthus Tropicana
Little Chatterbox Leaf (page 2 on the semi-mini link, isn't the name cute too?)
Now, growing from a leaf for African Violets is new to me and I am just LOVING trying all this new stuff!!
I want to thank whoever donated this wonderful prize with all my heart again as I have wanted a Nemantanthus Tropicana for a LONG time :)
(((HUGE HUG AGAIN & AGAIN))))
Kimber
Thanks Lin!:)
I don't have my First Class with me... but isn't 'Little Chatterbox' a Pittman hybrid? Whoops! Nope! It's by S. Sorano! How could I forget that we've now got so many cultivars entered into our very own PlantFiles?! Here's the link. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/135935/
Rob's Violets has great instructions on growing from a leaf, and I know there's more good info and links in our sticky... no worries; you can do it!
That Nemantanthus is gorgeous!
Congratulations, and I sure hope you recover quickly Kim... remember that you're supposed to rest a little at home today, LOL!
Happy Birthday, Diane!!
Happy Birthday Diane!!!!!
Hope you have a WONDERFUL day full of blooms and many memories :)
Kim
Thanks to both of you, Critter & Kim!
Kim- Feel better soon- and any time you can shop when sick- I say go for it!LOL
Happy Birthday, Diane!! Kim - LOL at you shopping while sick. Hope you're better really soon.
I am confused about the biggest loser thing, but will be watching for our last winner. This has been a really fun game.
I see the other biggest loser hasn't spoken up for that last prize of the box of leaves yet. I am really curious if she is even playing. I know with the holidays here, a lot of folks are super busy but she hasn't posted since the game began. She may be one of the players who just "watch" and don't post during bingo games but I would have thought she would have claimed her prize by now. I do understand that at this busy time of year, she may have a lot going on and totally forgot about the game.
Critter, maybe you can put a deadline for her to respond and if she doesn't post by then, I can have my hubby draw a name from all the remainder cards for that last prize?
We will be gone from Monday morning until Wednesday evening so I don't think I will have time to check in during those days.
I also want to thank you all for this was truely a wonderful game for me.. Not just the getting a prize just being able to have fun and relieve a little stress...
Kim I have never won anything either... I am not the luckest person... I am in many other ways but just not in this type of stuff...LOL
Hugs,
Susan
Lin, I'm sorry, I guess you didn't see my post about that... gosh, did it go through? Since she is in Canada, she can't get the box of leaves anyway. I told her to Dmail me, and I'd find her something in my seed stash. So go ahead and put names into a hat for everybody in the US who hasn't won a prize in this game, and have DH draw a name for that last prize. If it's somebody in a frozen location, Elaine can decide if she'd rather wait and send their box of leaves when it gets a little warmer or just have you draw another name...
edited to add that yes, the post did go through, but I guess that part got missed... scroll up to what I posted at 11:02. :-)

I don't know how I missed that Critter! Ok, hubby went to have the oil changed in his truck. He normally does all that stuff himself, I was shocked that he was taking it in cause he usually won't let anyone touch our vehicles (he knows all about cars - an auto mechanic before he was an aircraft mechanic before his military days and before he became a college proffesor). He has a new (very large) truck and I guess the Toyota dealership does free oil/filter changes so he decided to have it done today. I will put all the names in a hat and let him pick as soon as he gets home! Sorry I'm the one ending up holding up the last prize of this game. Give me the booby prize, LOL! Don't know how I missed Critter's post way back there!
Back in a few minutes with the last winner!
Lin, you are too cute! Booby prize, I don't think so. You have been a joy during this game! Thanks so much for holding the cards! Jill, you have been wonderful as well, with all you have going on in your life, you ran a very smooth and very fun game! Thanks so much! I hope your Mama is feeling well. I may have missed a post where you updated us on her condition, I will go back and read the rest, I know I missed some of them...LOL Just keep popping in to check and see what is going on.
Thanks, Janet! I know it got a little crazy at the end -- but it usually does!
Mom is doing all right. We're waiting on some test results this evening... a couple of little glitches that could be just due to the stress of surgery, but they want to make sure there are no other underlying causese that might need to be addressed before they send her home. We sure appreciate everybody's thoughts and prayers! My folks have been pretty private about this -- not like it's a secret, but they haven't put her name up on the prayer list at church and so forth -- but they think it's pretty neat that a bunch of folks they've never met are praying for a lady they only know as "Critter's mom." :-) Thank you.
Hey If you are our friend that makes your family our friends... :-) Will keep her in our prayers still ... Go Mom :-)
Hugs,
Susan
Give your Mom a great big Hug from Maine and tell her we all wish her the bestest of the best. Prayers being said from Maine :)
Well ladies, I screwed up! And I owe you all an apology for not posting sooner. I was waiting to hear from Critter but she must be at the hospital with her mother. Anyway, I made a big mistake: The other Biggest Loser of this game and winner of the last prize is Lilac58. I told Critter that Lilac58 lived in Canada so we thought she wouldn't be eligible for the last prize of the box of leaves (since you can't ship plant material across the border without first buying that phytosanitary certificate thing that costs somewhere in the area of $60.) Therefore I was going to put all the remaining names in a hat and have my hubby pick one for that prize.
Well, I made a mistake! Lilac58 lives in Virginia! Don't ask me where I got the idea that she lives in Canada ... hey, I'm getting old and I'm blonde and ... well, my brain is addled - blame it on the holidays or all of the above facts but anyhow it was my mistake and I apologize profusely! Lilac58/Donna still had two calls left on her card also and is our second biggest loser. I have gone back and checked and double checked. Here is the final list for all prizes in this game:
1st Place: Jannich/Jan - chose the 1yr membership to AVSA - prize compliments of Critterologist
2nd Place: Dispatcher1/Lou - chose $15 cash - prize compliments of Jannich
3rd Place: Ccino42/Dawna - chose $15 Gift Certificate - prize from anonymous donor
4th Place: Mrsbonnie/Bonnie - chose Gift Certificate from Velvet Leaf - prize compliments of Critterologist (traded for Victorian Lady Doily that KimsKreations so generously made and donated to the game)
5th Place: Biggest Loser: Susan51/Susan - chose the Chirita Tamiana seeds prize - compliments of Ccino42
6th Place: Second Biggest Loser: Lilac58/Donna - a box of AV leaves - prize compliments of Kamikid
and, last but not least:
7th Place/ Slowest Starter: Kimskreations/Kim - $10 gift to Bluebird Greenhouse, for one plant or combination of plant and leaves, compliments of anonymous donor who will cover postage also.
Again, I sincerely apologize for making this so crazy here at the end! I really should get the Booby Prize! I know everyone has been sitting and watching and waiting for the final outcome. I'm sure Santa will put a bunch of coal in my stocking for messing this up here at the end. :( So sorry!
I wish you all a Very Happy Holiday and Many Blessings for the coming year!
Lin
p.s. Critter, I hope your dear mom is getting better and will soon be recuperating at home!
Well, I think I probably screwed up a couple of the prizes too :( I'm on a roll! I'm not sure if I got the prizes right for 3rd and 4th place, but you two ladies already claimed your prizes so you know which prize you chose!
I'm going to bed now!
:)
This was so much fun, I don't want it to end:(
Thank you Lin & Critter for doing the game!!!!!
Congratulations to all the winners!!
Life really is short- enjoy every moment you can
Think of all we've been through in this very short time-
Births, life-threatening illnesses & operations
Loss of one's family member
Trying to achieve better health by quitting smoking
And all in the busiest time of year for most people
I feel as if I've really gotten to know all of you and shared in your life's
joys and also a few sorrows.......
So glad to get to know you all...
Sincerely
Diane
