Have fun playing in the boonies tonight Eleanor!!
Harper's Birthday - part 3
Yes - have fun, Eleanor.
it's where the children of the corn retire to.
Corny!
Coney Island in the winter.
I heard they're going to be closing down most of Coney Island's amusement park. Whhhha! I still haven't gotten down there to ride the Cyclone yet.
My mother and her friend went on it when it was still fairly new. It stopped due to some malfunction and they had to get out and walk up and down those steep slopes to return to the ground!
Eeeek! Maybe I won't go on it now.
A couple summers ago DH and I went to Darien Lake theme park, and were waiting in line for the roller coaster, and I changed lines to a shorter line, and DH said big deal, we'll get on one sooner. Well. we went on our ride, then as we were walking off, the next coaster up got stuck just before going down the first hill, and was stuck for 30 minutes or more. I was so glad we got on the one before that one.
Eleanor, Nice of you to go out in the cold to entertain the folks at the nursing home. They can get so lonely.
Ooh - lucky for you Deb! That would freak me out.
We have some of the most unselfish people on this Forum!
Eleanor, I commend you!!
We used to go almost every Friday and sometimes Sunday afternoon in the fall/winter and late spring. But this past year has been hard for people to get together. We tried to do every nursing home in the area at least twice a year. I sometimes have Colin so late that it makes it difficult. The residents had a wonderful time last night. It really does brighten their lives. It is an awesome sight to see a resident with Alzheimer's disease responding to the music and sometimes even singing along. We are a goofy bunch (good singers and even some professional singers) and encourage them to join in!! It's a group that does hugs as well as sing!! Eleanor
p.s. It was good to get my fingers moving again after not playing much lately!
Group hugs are the best!
Wonderful, Eleanor! I'm sure you brightened their lives more than you realize.
Yeah, you brightened my life hearing about it!! Good for you!!
Thanks guys. I hate going out at night in the winter - I like to hibernate - but I always return from a nursing home feeling a lot better than before! Eleanor
Happy holiday-birthday, Harper!
"The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."
- Numbers 6:24-26
I used this verse on the inside of my Christmas cards this year.
Oh, Sue, that's the sweetest! And the same to you, my friend.
Sue beat me to it! I was going to wish you a happy holiday AND a happy un-birthday.
I hope your days just get better and better, Harper.
and God bless us, everyone . . . :-)
Candyce, that is the nicest thing to say and I wish the same for you. Big hugs to you and your family this Christmas.
Amen Michaela!
Yes. All the best for my DG friends!
Happy Birthday, Harper - and Merry Christmas to everyone! I LOVE Christmas!
Same to you Michaela!!!
Merry Christmas, Harper!
You too Memory!! :)
Harper, did you have a grand Christmas birthday celebration?
I miss Christmas already.
Happy holiday birthday, Harper.
I did! I did! Thank you Sue and Candyce. Same to you both!
We're in 4th place on postings for last week. Obviously we need to keep wishing Harper a happy birthday - either belated or early.
Happy New Year, Harper. I hope it's a good one for you.
Yeah - who woke up Tropical Gardening?!! Must be the weather. We tied mid-South!
Happy Birthday and New Year, Harper
. . . . say, Harper, since apparently EVERY day is your birthday - how old are you? And does the changing of the year make any difference?
Harper is ageless - "forever young".
I notice Harper seems to only appear on this thread lately!! C'mon Harper, don't be shy. We love you and would like to see you on the other threads too!
Happy New Year Birthday!
Harper, did you wish for snow for your birthday? 'Cause that's all we seem to be getting lately. Snow! Snow! Snow! Oh. I forgot! We had one day of rain.
Happy Birthday once again!!! And a happy new year!!!
