I sympathize Harper! It only gets tougher from here as they get into the teen years. You are forced to deal with the mistakes of other parents.
Harper's Birthday - part 3
We had the same problem. What we did was to reverse the invitation. That is, we often invited the 'brat' to our house. You'd be surprised at how much good behavior can rub off.
My daughter does the same thing, invites the brat to her house. That way she knows what her girls are up to and has rules in her house that the brat is expected to follow also.
I had an issue with a girlfriend of mine who allowed her 10-12 year old children invite who they wanted to their birthday parties, and they invited all my girlfriends friends - so all adults, and no kids from their schools. I think it was because they got better presents from the adults. It bothered me that she let them do that.
That's a new angle.
I knew of a little girl who only invited BOYS to her parties.
Smart cookie!
I think little Paris did that too.
She probably still does that.
I just looked up her bio and her birthday is February 17th, in case you want to send a card.

That date rings a bell. Might be Michael Jordan's as well.
It's my sister's birthday as well.
Your sister and Paris aren't twins, are they?
Oh my!
That would make Candyce and Paris sisters!! Are hiding something, Candyce? If she were my sister I wouldn't admit it either!! eleanor
LOL!
Nope. Not sisters. Not even cousins.
I haven't given them an answer yet, but whichever house we go to, I'm laying ground rules and I won't let them play alone together.
Hey, did yall get snow yesterday? It came in and dumped 3" on us in two hours.
Nope. We didn't get snow here. But we are supposed to get sleet, freezing rain, and snow tonight. Should make for a very interesting commute tomorrow ~ for those who commute, that is. I just commute from my bedroom to downstairs.
Only about an inch here on Friday, Harp. We're looking at an ice storm tonight. Yuck!
About an inch in Bridgeport - but more in Danbury and it took me about 2 hours to drive the 23 miles home from work!
Candyce - that's tough commute !! I don't even have to go downstairs! LOL Eleanor
Goodness!
It's been three days since we have wished Harper a Happy Un-Birthday! So, I'll jump to it. Happy Un-Birthday, Harper!!!!
Yeah, Eleanor. I love my commute! Well, that is, I love it on the week days! Mostly on the weekends I want to stay upstairs and hide! (Not really. I have a lovely family!)
Would that be 'whine', Sherrie?
Maybe sherry?
Ugh. Paris Hilton made it to my birthday thread. Now I'm complete.
Thanks for the un-birthday wishes Candyce!
i had to drive home from danbury to new haven on sunday night. i was sore all over on monday from being so tense the whole way back. i hate that drive in the dark in good weather.
I'm the same, Amy - especially if I'm not too familiar with the way.
There is no good way to make that trip Amy.
Harper, Easy solution. Tell them your child is suddenly allergic to their child. Works like a charm.
That's funny too Dave!
Driving in the dark has never been a pleasure for me, either. Talk about white knuckles!! If I know where I am, it's just a bit less tense, though. I just hate roads lined with unfamiliar trees. I never know if one of those will jump out when I least expect them to!
I hear ya there, Sherrie!
We don't drive at night either. On the dark country roads all it takes is one person with their bright lights on behind us to blind the driver and sometimes the passenger. There isn't even room to pull over and let them pass.
and even more fun in all the rain Sunday, which was forecasted to turn into freezing rain. (thankfully it didn't while i was driving!)
yikes.
I might venture out in the dark to drive - if I have to. But I will NEVER drive after dark when it's raining! Never! Ever! I'll call 911 first!!!
Being nearsighted, the glare from oncoming cars' headlights used to just blind me. Then I learned that by closing my eyes I could avoid that.
Not while you were driving I hope!
That's my joke and I'm sticking to it!
Closing your eyes will solve the problem alright!
Gee, I thought I was the only one who didn't drive at night and when I have to, I go so slooooow!! I will drive around town cause there are street lights, but that's it. It's nice to know I have lots of company. One thing I really hate is making a left turn at an intersection when there is a car coming off the road I'm entering. With their lights in my eyes I can't see a thing and just hope I stay on the road. I have to go way out into the boonies tonight to a nursing home to play for a group singing Christmas songs and someone has to drive me if they want a piano player!! (good run-on sentence) Yes, there really is a nursing home out in the boonies - in fact it's in the middle of a corn field. eleanor
